  1. The Quick detailer will work well. LOVE silver cars. NICE choice. Forget what BFG tire I have exactly...but def. not a winter tire. I run Blizzacks in the winter, and my winters are much more mild than yours. Also like the tail light treatment on the two door Cobalt. Used to ahve a 71 Chevelle with the round tail lights...the 'balt from the rear reminds me of that car. Plus the swept roof line on the two door is one detail item GM just nailed on these cars. Gassed up next to a red two door SS Supercharged last night after work. WOW...what a car. Chris
  2. At least they didn't buy a Genesis or an Avalon! Chris
  3. I run BFG on the Miata, decent tires. Seems like car and driver in august perhaps did a great article on performance tires. Given your care...both cars ought to be immortal. Ever see the old Woody Allen movie where a guy wakes up like 400 years in the future...finds a VW beetle in a cave...and it starts! It won't be a beetle, it will be your Cavi. Someone will flush out the fluids, put in some fresh Mobil 1...and she'll be good for another 400 years. Cavi is white, yes? What color is the 'balt? Chris
  4. +1 Chris
  5. Would be what I would want to do. Or take it to a good mechanic and find out the real problems with it. The $3000 for a tired bird would make the Buick good enough for another 100k miles or so. Chris
  6. Sweet! Love the two door in both cars... Chris
  7. JB, it runs and it's not RWD, so it's down on two counts. Chris
  8. Let him speak. I'm tired of the PC BS about offending people, be they liberal, conservative, muslim, christian, or whatever. Chris
  9. All the more reason to enjoy the 'balt and the 'cavi with her. Your only young once. When I was younger my wife and I were doing something on a rather freqent basis...think flat blade or phillips...small VW compact...you get the general idea. Still happens on a damn good regular basis now, actually... Hopefully your keeping the Mrs. very happy in this regard. So what are you really thinking, Dave? I think a Cobalt 2 door at some point would be a great car for you...esp. if you could get an SS Supercharged or Turbocharged. Chris
  10. Sweet looking 'bird, I just miss the cars of the 1970's so badly. Coming back from meeting with Z06, his fiancee, and Oldsmoboi my 16 year old son and I were running with the top down on a beautiful evening at sunset. Perfect, restored 66 Mustang ragtop with the top down passes us and then runs with us in traffic for about 60 miles. Perfect! Sweet sightings...Lotus elise...perfect red stock restored 68 Camaro with a big block...neat old 53 Chevrolet... Chris
  11. Damn, Dave...she's going to let you have that Prius after all? She must be a great wife! Just kidding. My wife chose a first gen Scion xB, which we bought new...so far, after 118,000 miles, its doing pretty good. Wife wants a Volvo C30 Next. Chris
  12. I've seen cars rusted much worse. Saw a Z71 Extended cab today that had rust into the pillars, around windows, etc. Wow. What a steaming pile! Chris
  13. Dude...pardon me for saying this...but your thinking short term. GM is done building the kind of RWD cars you and most of the people here want to buy for the most part. Think about getting a new style Camaro when you get out of school and get a good paying job. In the mean time...drive the cutty. Save your money. Buy a "targetmaster" or whatever the current name is new GM 350 Chevrolet from Jegs or Summit or GM or whomever. Add a TH 350 and stir gently. Work on getting the Regal right. Another junk motor will just set you back more Cash. Better to do this in September and get it right than do it next week and watch it blow up in your face. The Regal will be a great car when your done...trust me. But look at how long Dodgefan has been working on the Intrepid and how long Camino has been working on the wagon and the camino. Expect getting the Regal right to take time...it's not like one of those model cars you shake the box and watch come together. But good luck...I am happy to think of how the Regal will be when it's done. Chris
  14. Given that the economy is going to be in the tank for a long time to come... You may want to plan on living on a cash basis for a very long time. It's what I'm thinking about. Chris
  15. When you get ready to finish the basement, I can come wire it for you. Chris
  16. You would be better off fixing the Buick. However...to each his own. Chris
  17. Methinks the woman is nuts. Chris
  18. As a father of five, all I can say is...keep roproducing! Or tell her you want to practice.... Chris
  19. Go Steelers! Chris
  20. Yes, thinking if I do go Cobalt would be SS. The Supercharged and Turbocharged cars are wonderful! Chris
  21. Methinks you worry to much. Have you seen the new wagon, the one built on the new Golf platform-looks good! The only reason to get the VW IMHO is to get the TDI with a manual. TDI+Manual+Wagon=Good car for reg. Regular 5 cyl golf with an autotrajic...might as well buy a used Astra, kind of. What do you want this car to DO, reg? Fuel economy, handling/auto-X, highway touring, easy to park, what are your priorities? We know what these cars each do well, what do you NEED and WANT in a car? Chris
  22. I prefer the Cube to the Soul as well. Chris
  23. Keep it and run it into the ground, big time. IF it doesn't go to the junkyard when your done, your not doing something right. I like her idea of a real vaccation. Next year I plan to come to Michigan, and Z06 and I are talking about getting C and G guys together for Autocrosses and track events. Wouldn't suggest running the J body open track, but it would be fun to autocross. LeMons is kind of on hold for right now, but other things may be in store. Chris
  24. I could possibly look at this for you on my way home from work Thursday, if you wish and if it is still available. I work in Chillicothe and could Detour home possibly through Lancaster if you wish. Let me know! Better to spend your money buying a whole 'bird than my money to buy a wrecked 'bird. Chris
