  1. Thanks, Derek. What's your impression of the Electric steering in your Mom's Malibu relative to the electric steering in the previous gen Malibu Maxx that I'm used to (and don't like all that much). I'd assume that the Malibu option would be predicate upon the presence of the 6-Speed, I heard they're kinda doggish without them. As for fit and finish I always thought (and still think) the W-Body LaCrosse was impressive with all the soft touch materials. Even though the design was archaic it was a real quality package. Easily the best quality GM car interior, followed by the Lucerne/DTS, and then the Malibu. We already considered some others that were eventually shot down... 2009 Pontiac G6 SE, 3.5L V6 -Puny Cobalt-size trunk -Putrid interior 2009 Buick Allure CX, 3.8L V6 -Old, tough to navigate stereo without an AUX jack 2009 Pontiac G8, 3.6L V6 -My dad liked this one the best, but he's adamant about FWD.
  2. I usually just have the Kappa rolls.
  3. That's one Yankee's opinion. http://www3.telus.net/linguisticsissues/Br...ianAmerican.htm
  4. Never been to Illinois but I have experienced first hand the California road system- you have a point there. I had by far my fewest encounters with bad drivers in Nova Scotia, Arizona and Washington State. Quebec still remains my worst observations... You know you can't make a right turn on a red light in Montreal? It's chaos esp in urban areas there.
  5. LOL! I love the part on the Conservative website where they talk about how he likes cats.
  6. Yeah hopefully we can find one in that nice Brown/Tan scheme or even just plain black. How did you find the 2.4 in respect to the 3.5? and did the Malibu you drove have the 4- or 6- Speed?
  7. It totally doesn't surprise me that it was a Quebec driver. They're the worst I've ever seen.
  8. Prolly should have said the pictures were merely representative... If possible a 2LT Malibu would be better with it's Ultralux interior, proper wheels, and the possibility of the V6. We likely would have just kept the black Impala and bought it off my grandmother but we didn't need four cars then so we let it go. This one would be primarily driven by my father, I'm getting the 07 Impala and my brother will be getting the 08 Cobalt.
  9. So come January-February we're aiming to have added another car to the fleet, looking to spend no more than 23995$ (CDN), as a Used CPO Fleet or Demo vehicle with no more than 25000km (15k miles). Our choices have been narrowed down to three and I'm wondering if I could get some commentary/opinion from people who are more familiar with these choices and the powertrains (how the 2.4L Malibu performs in comparison to the 3.5L V6, how the 3.9 does for fuel economy relative to the 3.5. There are of course some pre-requisites: OnStar, XM Radio. "The Known Quantity" 2009 Chevrolet Impala LT 3.5L VVT V6 Pros: Known Quantity Dual-Zone Climate Biggest Trunk of Group Cons: Tight Back Seat It's kinda dorky to have two of the same car in the driveway "The Florida Option" 2009 Buick Lucerne CX 3.9L VVT V6 Pros: Most Interior Space Cadillac Chassis Most Horsepower Most Comfortable Seats Cons: More Expensive than Other Options Least Fuel Economy of Group "The Wild Card" 2009 Chevrolet Malibu LT 2.4L ECOTEC I4 Pros: Best Fuel Economy Most Rear-Seat Legroom Split-Folding Seat Standard Best Material Quality Cons: Least Power Wimpy Trunk "Fascia Spoke" Wheels Same Price as Impala
  10. So it's been a while since I checked in... here's a pic. Cleaned up the Malibu and Cobalt this week so they're ready for the impending snowstorm that's no doubt coming soon. Luckily I didn't need to put the effort in on the Impala. I spotted a rust spot on it behind the chrome trim on the trunk-lid and after the body shop fixed this under warranty they did a whole interior/exterior detailing job complete with wax, tire shine and a steam bath for the engine (score). The chip and rust spot are invisible now and a great job was done (Pics on that later).
  11. Mary Kay Pontiac Grand Prix (final gen base model)
  12. Series III goes to 2009 with the Allure slash LaX Series One was present in the Dustbusters for 1995 so there was a year of overlap. The Series I Supercharged engine served alongside the naturally aspirated Series II for one model year in the Buick Park Avenue before the inception of the Series II Supercharged engine.
  13. Brand new Astra XE 5-Doors, more loaded than the one you tested, are going for 11'900 here in Canada, brand new.
  14. First Ford to have those directional turn signal thingies was the 1965 Thunderbird to the best of my knowledge.
  15. Go with a Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon. The early GMT-360s were unreliable, as were the S-10 Blazers... not to mention how unsafe the latter was.
  16. Here's another 1994 Cutlass Ciera, 71K http://nh.craigslist.org/ctd/1340022791.html
  17. Hey DF! http://nh.craigslist.org/cto/1365365959.html The GM FWD A-Bodies were like battleships and this one only has 70'000mi. That's probably the best 850 you could spend.
  18. 1990-92 Toronado 1995-99 Aurora 1993 Sixty Special 1994-96 Fleetwood 1997-05 Park Avenue 1961-68 Cadillac (All Models) 1953-56 Cadillac (All Models)
  19. I had a first hand opportunity to put about 500km on a brand new 2010 Fusion Sport AWD (Sangria Red exterior with Red and Black leather interior) with the 3.5 Duratec just last week. I think it was a taut, good handling car and it had much better materials than the Malibu especially the center stack. It's got a better trunk layout than the Malibu as well (even if it's not quite as deep it's got an opening you can do stuff with). That being said the Malibu is roomier, has better interior design and delivers better low end Torque (3.6L vs Duratec), and the Radio is more user friendly. I`d still have the Malibu.
  20. GMTG, Congrats! You are one lucky duck to be driving around in that beauty of a car... Take care of it and hold on to it so that future generations may know what a REAL Cadillac is.
  21. Not even a DTS/Lucerne?
  22. GS is appropriate but it'd be a SIN to call some FWD Eps. a GNX.
  23. I think I can sum this up in one sentence: This is all kinds of wrong.
  24. I'm an ISTJ
