  1. I'll still look to GM first but if Ford makes something I want more, then I'm not going to feel bound to buy from GM.
  2. Driving around the backroads of Rural Alberta.
  3. The Huff Post hates America in general, not just GM. Glad to see Welburn mention 20th Century design greats like Eero Saarinen and Harley Earl.
  4. I agree on all points but FYI the new LaX has a 17-18 cu ft trunk.
  5. That's a 64 Impala, the 65 Impala was the one you're referring to
  6. Frankly this is an interesting statistic, I had no idea the numbers were so staggering. Calgary has 3 Cadillac dealers but out of all the Cadillacs I see on the road in Calgary almost all of them seem to come from two of those three dealers.
  7. It's well understood 'blu. The hating of GM in the media needs to stop, I cannot listen to it anymore. They are, contrary to the media spin, building PLENTY of cars that people want (Camaro, Malibu, GMT900, CTS, Lambda, Impala... I could go on). If they weren't they wouldn't have sold as many cars as FORD OR TOYOTA OR HONDA last month. [/venting]
  8. I don't think so, in fact I'd say that's next to impossible. The Impala gazelle came off, but so did the "LS" badge on LS models. It's aimed at cutting costs and saving money period. When/if a newer Impala comes out on EPII I would expect the gazelle to be back in all its glory. Not sure I like this new Buick though. The more I look at it the less I like it. If I was to compare it to the CTS in style inside and out I'd say the CTS is a much more well executed design (and I really find it appealing). The LaCrosse has an attractive interior but the center stack puts me off of it somewhat, the exterior styling looks as if they're trying to be BMW. I'd still rather have a DTS or Lucerne or even a CTS4 over this car.
  9. I saw several of those Challengers yesterday as well. One Red R/T, three Orange SRT-8s, and two Black SRT-8s. From what I saw they have to be really popular.
  10. Yup. He's Insane. For a 25 year police veteran I don't quite get the RWD hate either The way he sees it RWD is the way of the past because we've made configurations that are "way better in the winter". I know when we bought the Impala the salesman and I were talking about Zeta and he wasn't at all receptive.
  11. Roadtrip to Edmonton and Back today (Impala got 38MPG) -2 F4 Camaro, 1 F4 Firebird -1958 Impala 2Dr HT -1958 Dodge Coronet 2Dr HT -2 1st Gen Mustang Convertibles -Lime Green 2008 Charger Daytona -1 C4 Corvette ZR1 -1981 Coupe DeVille, mint -1965 Cadillac Sedan de Ville -Hummer H2 SUT with a 2nd Gen Escalade front end -2 New Camaros on the Road -W-Body Cutlass Supreme vert Red on Black with the top down -1965 Corvair vert Additionally my dad was at the dealer we do business with yesterday and saw the new Camaro (it was a 2LT w/ RS Package in Black) and he said "very nice striking car, I'd love to have one, and I'd buy one if only it was FWD or AWD"... He also professed his new appreciation for the current gen BMW 3-Series which I found very odd (not that I disagree).
  12. Wow it's like you're reading my mind. I'm sick of the media Toyota ______hangers digging GM a grave when the exalted Toyota is selling less cars and losing MORE MONEY. It's just sickening- Three companies that have contributed more to the American landscape than any other entire industry and the public is eager to sell them all for Tundras and cheap-ass made in China electronics. No country has remained a convincing world power without a credible manufacturing base. ever.
  13. Nice to see a Canadian company getting the nod instead of Fiat. ( ).
  14. Nice Car! But with all due respect I'd rather have the red Marquis next to it.
  15. 1) 2007 Chevy Impala LS (Dark Silver)- Keep. I will be transferring this car into solely my ownership this spring. I plan to drive this one indefinitely (read not into the ground). 2) 2008 Chevy Cobalt LT Sedan (Slate)- We'll be keeping it, transferring it to my brother this spring. 3) 2006 Chevy Malibu Maxx LT (Sport Red)- We'll probably keep it for 3 more years until the extended warranty expires Next Up 4) 2009 Chevy Impala LT- My dad will be picking up a leftover one in the spring when my brother starts driving and I permanently take over his current Impala. We're thinking of going with the LT this time but will settle for the LS if we have to. In absence of an Impy LT or a properly equipped LS like the one I've got now he will get a 2009 Lucerne CX as he doesn't seem very receptive of the ancient stereo and look of the LaCrosse. In the Future... 5) Five years from now GICs I recently rolled in mature. The intentions of my investment is to buy a nicer car when my insurance goes down. What I'd really like is a 2009-10 Cadillac DTS in either Black, Black Cherry or Navy with the Bench seat and gray or cream leather. I will probably end up traveling to the Sun Belt (Nevada/Az/Nm) to find what I want in the rust free state I'm interested in. That's about all there is for me when it comes to the near-distant future.
  16. Satty nailed it, random decontenting. Just like I watched progressive decontenting from 1999 to 2002 to 2005 on our 3 Ventures. Keyholes, locks, vinyl door panels replacing cloth, glovebox lock and light, upholstery quality itself etc etc.
  17. I'd love to go but there's that living thousands of miles away thing... I do appreciate Cadillac as my favourite division.
  18. My dad made CDs from iTunes and played them in the stereo in his 2005 Venture... But I think that was a stereo that had MP3 support.
  19. Where's your 1969 living then?
  20. I'm trying to get a couple of housework items done on the Impala and trying not to think about it. I test drove a beautiful black DTS Lux II with Bench Seat recently and I'm really taken with it on all levels. I think maybe that's a car I'd be interested in buying if I could find one on the cheap in the future. That being said go for what you want, like DF said.
  21. Can you think of another thing GM had "No Plans" of doing that they did anyway?
