Well I have news. I called the sales manager at our Jeep store this afternoon... he said the vehicle has been built and is either in QC or it has been sent to a holding yard for shipment! That is super fast, having only been ordered on Feb 28th... hopefully that is a good thing, and any new-vehicle glitches were ironed out at the Brazil plant before North American production began. Not sure how long it takes to get here from Toluca, or how it will come. And, RIGHT ON CUE... my reverse camera has not worked on the truck at all today... and it is out of warranty by 1800 miles... YAY.

I'd been thinking of supporting my employer by going with a small affordable crossover. We sell the Tucson, CX-3, CX-5, Encore, Renegade and new Compass. For various reasons, I decided on a new bodystyle 2017 Compass Latitude 4X4 with six speed manual transmission in Olive Green Pearl. It was ordered on February 28th, and the last production phase update I got was that my vehicle is in "trim". I am not certain what that means, whether the factory is lining up parts for the interior, or whether it is currently having the interior/exterior trim installed... if anyone knows exactly what happens during Chrysler production phase "G", I would appreciate some enlightenment. So anyhow, yup, I am going with another small green Jeep CUV. All the online reviews I've read have been positive. So I am psyched!

Nevertheless, it appears to be a very useful vehicle for its intended purpose.

My dad currently has one of these 3.6L Impalas. He is a steadfast Chevy man. Before this he had an older one with the 3.5L... the a/c ate itself, and with the prospect of a $1500 bill to fix it, he traded it on his current Impy, dark gray over ebony, with the crosshatch grille and body color trunk molding. I had to tell him his 3.6L has 300 hp, not sure if he believed it. These cars are true workhorses though.

Cherry picking parts here and there do not qualify as being "based on the Econoline".

Currently they use the Ford 3.7L V6.

Nissan Versa sedan - more utilitarian than versatile
ocnblu replied to trinacriabob's topic in Reader Reviews
Speaking of... I helped my mother lease a 2015 Versa Note hatchback after the Kia dealer refused to help her get into a second Soul lease. I believe hers is the SV (comes with power windows/locks/mirrors) in Peacock (blue). For a very small lady in her early 70's, it is just fine for putzing around in. I took her to get cat litter (40 pounds worth!) yesterday and I drove her in her car because it is hard for her to get in and out of my truck. For a cheap, rather unrefined, CVT-saddled transportation device, I have to say I have a modicum of fun driving it. We were on a busy 4-lane road with her holding the oh-shit handle the whole time, and she said between grimaces of fear... "you like driving this little thing, don't you, whipping it around in traffic..." I had to agree. I actually thought for a while about buying one for myself as a work commuter. There will always be a place for cars like this. -
That's one of those taxi things, I forget what they're call, bro. I wonder if they're still in bidness?

Excuse me you said you sawr your first one on March 18th in this very thread. Radiation again? Are you dreaming... or fibbing at us?

Congratulations on it!

Wow, at that rate, it's a wonder I don't see one on every corner. Triple black Lincoln Mark III, bounding through the streets of Lancaster. A welcome sight!

Well I have 37,300+ miles on the truck. Winter doldrums have me at about 19.6-20 MPG per tank these days. Since I have a new toy ordered, I went over onto the NADA website to look up the value of my truck. NADA is saying it is still worth about $25,150, after taking a deduction of $225 for the mileage, which is on the high side for its age.

He says he gets 22-23 on the highway. After researching my Members Rides thread, my best tank was 25 MPG, which consisted of a road trip to Ocean City, MD.

My dad's truck is a 2004 extended cab 5.3L 4X4... built before all the extra complications, and his truck can easily match mine in fuel mileage. So what is the problem? He's no hypermiler. This is what we're talking about with the burden of regulations that don't solve anything... they just add cost. A truck is a truck. It still needs to move loads, it still needs to be a capable vehicle.

When a midsize truck gets 19.8-20 MPG and a fullsize can match it, it becomes obvious how difficult it is to build a product that remains viable and meets the ridiculous standards.

I've seen a few of those XLT Flareside Rangers. Light green '67 Chevelle sedan in beautiful shape... being driven on our wet roads with salted remnants.
