  1. Yup, Lincoln did it, Chrysler did it. But it took GM to execute it properly. This is a very attractive car that shows the gravity of permanence in its style... it is not a flavor of the munt that forces people to re-learn what it is about.
  2. The People want crossovers, crossovers they will get. The CUV is, above all, a very functional type of vehicle... high seating position, wagon hauling capability, AWD security... what's not to like, if the thing is made to be nice to DRIVE.
  3. New LaCrosse has optional AWD.
  4. The high gloss wood is an option, just like it is on the Lincolns that have it. No Lincoln today has that much wood, gloss or not. You're right about that. The whole brand is pretty flaccid right now.
  5. I said to the young hipster princess at customer service... "I know this is weird, but I need to return this broccoli, I just bought it..." she happily obliged, after weighing it and checking my receipt.
  6. I am baking broccoli and cheese casserole for early Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow over at Dad's. "Fresh" broccoli heads at grocery store looked like they'd been cut 6 munts ago, but I picked through and bought the best 3 I could find. On way home, I realized I have a locally famous farm stand not 2 miles from my house... so I took a turn and stopped in. WOW... the broccoli is fantastic there, and only ONE DOLL HAIR per head! So I took the other crappy stuff back.
  7. Hmmm... thanks for the sincere replies. This actually happened, but my post is supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek reference to my Tesla parts rant a while back.
  8. Had a dark blue '02 Firebird Trans Am Firehawk come in to the shop this week, wrecked down the side. Needs a fender repair, door and quarter replaced. Kid ordered the car new from the factory and was sick about the damage. I went in to write the estimate, and a lot of the parts are discontinued from GM! I had to call around to locate USED PARTS! My question to you is... why can't the world's largest auto manufacturer (for 70 years at least) come up with a way to make parts for their cars forever? THIS IS SO STUPID!!!
  9. Appears that the risk has paid off. This thing looks cool! AND IT COMES IN BROWN! I need to know when they are coming out with a car called "Pet". Please advise.
  10. I am going to change my posted opinion on this car after coming to realize how it blends Avenir with first-gen LaCrosse and comes out the other end looking GAWJUSSSSS. Also, wayback machine dictates that I dredge up the fact that I found the second-gen LaCrosse looked too high and narrow when it debuted. This one has no problem looking long, low and wider.
  11. Congratulations on that, Drewbert.
  12. My house was built in '86. I wonder how much it would cost to go through and update the electrical system... breaker box, etc. none of my outdoor outlets work, and apparently they're tied to some of the inside outlets. I'd also like to install an outlet in the garage for a car.
  13. A beautiful update, to be sure. It is a shame to me that Hyundai stole some Buick DNA with their bigger cars (Azera? Genesis?) a while back... that now it could be perceived that Buick is actually the thief. Sad state for a proud American brand. Love this new LaCrosse though. Want to see it in person.
  14. Oldsters around here might (or might not) remember my piss and moan when this generation Escape replaced the previous. I thought it looked too far removed from what an SUV (even an artificial one) should look like. The public proved me wrong, yet here is Ford, putting a (mild) truck face back on the Escape. I think it is an improvement.
  15. I was more of a fan of this MKZ (but only with the V6) before this hasty refresh... it was unique in a good way. And for Ford to intro the latest "new face of Lincoln" on a junior model instead of allowing the Continental to take that honor... is like a suicide door for the Continental... its impact is permanently blunted. Also the blatant combining of two MKZ threads is painfully obvious, as there are two comments offering opinion before William's informative post. William's post should be the lead here.
  16. Prolly destination charges
  17. *squints* cannot tell if this is real or a mir... nevermind
  18. Still resembles a horseshoe crab.
  19. I've asked this question before... it is as if Ford is dearly missing all of the British luxury brands they used to own. Explorer looks like a Range Rover. Every Ford car looks like an Aston-Martin... and now they're making Lincolns look like Jaguars. Creepy.
  20. We had the long, low roof six window fastback highwaisted look, pioneered by the Audi A7 and carried by the Fusion, MKZ, Impala, and others. Now we have the wide, low, oval themed look, as seen on the new Lacrosse, Verano, Cruze, Malibu... and now this Elantra.
  21. Well ya know... there is a car spotters thread posted every month here @ C&G.
  22. I think it looks better than the Miata, especially after seeing it in photos next to a classic 124 Spider.
  23. They may as well have made it a hatchback. It's got no ass.
  24. That's $15,000 more than MSRP on my 2015 Colorado LT extended cab 4X4 3.6L. I'm satisfied with what I got. I can butch it up with tires, flares, body color grille and black bowties for a heck of a sight less than $15k.
