  1. That drove us nuts in the shop once until we figgered it out.
  2. The Spiderman pictures... holy $h!e.
  3. Segway
  4. I think my grandfather's 1977 New Yorker had a vacuum-release parking brake.
  5. From what I remember, the pieces are made of different material, depending on which panel you're looking at. The front fender ones are plated plastic, and I believe those are the most prone to bubbling. IIRC, the door ones are metal, and the rear quarter ones are plastic as well, but not as prone to the bubbling. We used to keep the fender ones in stock because they were such fast movers.
  6. SAmadei, I think the term "coke bottle", when it is applied to car design, refers to a pinch at the rocker panel area, accompanied by a pinch and a kick-up at the rear 1/4 of the belt area. I don't think it applies to anything above the belt... if someone could confirm or deny my understanding, I'd appreciate it. Yup, on the '58, every model had 4 lights, except for the Impala, which was only a coupe in its first year, and which I understand has a different body altogether than the lesser models of that year... you have to see them side by side to see many of the differences. On the 1971-74 ('75? I forget the last year of the Bel Air) Bel Air, it had a different rear bumper/rear body finish panel and only 4 taillamp elements. Your photo is of an Impala I think.
  7. I would check around for a set of the narrow, bodyside upper chrome trim pieces, too. There was an issue with the finish on those.
  8. I agree with Dwight... make the Chevy this nice, and upgrade the Buick. What engine will the rumored LaCrosse GS have?
  9. On the sweet little GMC van, at first I thought the front bumper had a blue stripe... but now I see it's had a giant swath cut out of its middle! What is the purpose of that? It's roint!
  10. I kid you not - a late model BMW 3-series PICKUP TRUCK, in non-metallic orange. Upper bed contours of a Chevy Colorado, including tailgate and taillights. Looked very well done. Stopped by a local Ford dealer. 3 new Foci, a Blue Candy SE hatch, white SE sedan, and a Kona Blue S sedan... which, incidentally, was not locked, so I took a seat. Honestly? I am kind of meh... the interior is certainly no nicer than the Fiesta, in fact, I like mine better than the bigger, more expensive car... the door trim panel, for example, has a top section that you can grab and pry away from the lower section with your hand if you so desire... and it only had TWO power window switches on a 4-door sedan... are the rear windows manually controlled? This is like a Dodge Neon all over again... CHINTZY. The S was over $18k, the SE sedan had one option, the automatic, and it was over $19k... the hatch was $21k, and it had cheap looking wheel covers, for crying out loud. I also like the cleaner front end and taillights on the Fiesta.
  11. Sounds like a nice one, Dwight. Pretty darn close to what I'd propose.
  12. The blue Catalina... balthy, did you say it's a 4 door? Also, that little Ranchero is nice!
  13. Got my winter mat package, five mats, floor and hatch area. $148.09 wholesale. They fit like a glove, but I wish I could put something over the dead pedal area, as I use it a lot.
  14. SAmadei, please post a link to a photo of a '72 Biscayne and Bel Air showing 6 taillight elements. I think they had 4. The '59 I am not as sure about... we need an historian to locate rear end photos of '59 Impala and Bel Air for comparison.
  15. Dwight, it sounds like a recipe for ice. I'd love to see it.

    Zoom?

Man oh man... what a ride it's been for you. You'll bring 'em all to the yard with that thing. Big congratulations, and hopefully it'll be drama-free for years to come.
  17. Some very interesting schtuff you don't see every day, balthy. That Lincoln is cool, it's a convertible WITH a reverse canted back glass! And I guess I need to wikipede "Ford Escort", I didn't know it was such an historic nameplate.
  18. SCROTE... that newly posted photo of the blue 2012 Malibu shows off the new design beautifully. Love the wheels. This is easily the best looking car in the class now.
  19. Hope you're enjoying the varied Terrain out there these days.

Funny, I am bookended at 6.6L V8 and 1.6L I4. For a self-proclaimed "truck guy", I've owned more cars than trucks. I've owned 6 V8s and 7 I4s, with a mix of 5 and 6 cylinders in between. A varied diet is good. Now I need a nap.
  21. How about this: it reminds me of a '71-'72 Chevelle Malibu. This four taillamp element thing has been going on at Chevrolet since... (let's see...) 1958? The Camaro borrowed it in '70-'73, and uses it today. To quote Hank Williams, Jr. ... it's a family tradition. Perfectly fitting, comforting and a reminder of home, continuity... with all the changes we've witnessed at GM in the last few years. This is a car that will appeal to those who remember, and to those who are too young or indifferent to care what came before. It deserves to sell in great numbers.
  22. To those here who decry those of us who are not turned on by electric and/or hybrid propulsion vehicles, you can just go kicking and screaming into the past.
  23. A stealth jet, surely. Such a beautiful car.
  24. As I often do. I should be blind soon.
  25. It must have been British sports car day... sawr a red Bugeye Sprite and a maroon TR3, both beauties. And a really nice white '57 Bel Air 2-door post with Cragar S/S wheels.
