  1. I am so glad my mom is not that deluded (and more so by the day) beeyotch Hillary Clinton. Hillary likes to use the phone at 3 a.m., according to her ricockulous commercials. :AH-HA_wink: Well, we went to Lowe's and bought patio blocks, etc., and she wanted to go to Red Lobster for lunch, but there was a 2 hour wait (last year there was no call-ahead at our local location, this year, BAM, errbody was just walking in after calling ahead, leaving us dummies no choice but to find another joint). We ended up going to a pizza and salad buffet place called CiCi's Pizza, with one of those goofy, super-enthusiastic crews that you want to punch in the head for being so smiley. Then she made me work. I helped her build a small patio.
  2. 4 2 Congratulations to Diehard on #2. Your perseverance is paying off. Much improved here on perspective and proportion.
  3. I was looking over a Caliber rental the other day at work, returned by a customer. That thing is not a pretty car by any stretch. Useful yes, pretty, NO. And I haven't seen any SRT-4 Calibers, except at the Auto Show. I do like the Avenger sedan, even if it reminds me so much of a mid-70's Dart in execution, especially in base trim (which has an appeal to some folks, a workaday car you don't have to pamper). The Avenger SXT and R/T are distinctive and appealing, at least to me, especially without the spoiler. The Charger is a very good product with the 3.5L and Hemi. I am starting to see a lot of Sebrings without green "E" stickers. I think my main problem with the Sebring is the way oversized headlights and the hood strakes. The interior is distinctive, even if it has the appearance of being slightly Fisher-Price in materials. The 300 made Chrysler cool again, and it is still an appealing car.
  4. Uh, OK, my phone just rang. It was mom, calling to remind me it's Mother's Day. I played dumb.

  6. O.C., you are right on with your lesson in perspective. MSRP on an old-style GM product is a myth, however. The Tigger will sell very close to MSRP, I predict. When you're a single-income household living on just under $50k/yr, you have to be realistic in your vehicle dreams. I'd love to have a TDI Tigger AWD with manual transmission, I bet I'd get 40-42 mpg, but I don't see that happening.
  7. I'm sorry, I think you said "eyebrows", as in plural. :AH-HA_wink:
  8. Tiguans have hit the local VW lot. Two bright blue, one with tan, other with black cloth, and a sanitary white one with tan cloth. Very tight little SUV, I love it. But, like the promise of a low-priced BMW with the 1-series, the Tigs I saw today were $27k for a FWD, $29k for an AWD, and $30k for AWD with huge sunroof. Maybe I'm out of touch, but that is too much money for me.
  9. Oh my, I didn't mean to open up a great canyon, flowing with discontent until it bursts forth in a great flood, culminating in the screeching, tiny cry of a quivering, wrinkled, alien creature. If it brings upon you too much pain, let's just grab some warm towels and wrap this one up right now. :AH-HA_wink: My mom drives me nuts, but I love her. She's not sure what she wants to do tomorrow, but we'll most likely have a good day together. Such is Mother's Day for an only child.

    next Cobalt?

OMG, Mr. Jacket, I remember admiring that chop, and I do see a lot of similarities to the spyshots. I like what I see so far, and with my somewhat diminished expectations for Pontiac, I would like to see if a Delta II Pontiac is in the cards, and if so, will it be as distinctive from this Cobalt as the Sunfire was from the Cavalier, since it could have been developed from the outset to wear its own sheetmetal?
  13. She got all fat, cranky and nauseous for NINE MONTHS just so you could pop out and bawl your little head off. Don't forget her special day this Sunday. Last week I drove my mom to Target to pick up a wedding gift for a relative. When we got out of the car, she looked at the fender of the car parked next to us and said "Look at that, it looks like somebody put sunglasses for a person with 3 eyes on that car." I said "That's a Buick Lucerne. Those are Buick portholes."
  14. Recent Pontiac threads have me riled pretty bad. I decided not to continue with my rants, for now. I said what I needed to say. Sometimes it's just not fun to continue to state the obvious, over and over.

    Where's NOS?

We miss ya, Nosinger. Sorry to hear about your grandfather, I hope things return to normal soon.
  16. SAAB, Saturn and Hummer are all drains on GM's coffers and should be disposed with. They are distractions from the core. The core needs to be preserved and nurtured at all costs.
  17. I always think of Cadillac aspiring to be more of a Benz competitor than BMW. BMW to me is tilted more toward sport than luxury, Benz is more toward luxury, where Cadillac should be.
  18. Jet Black (not that miserable metallic black) 1-series hardtop with a thin red pinstripe at that sexy shoulder line. GM is missing such an opportunity, not bringing a tidy 4-seater RWD coupe to the lineup at Pontiac... especially now with Subaru/Toyota, Hyundai and Nissan all coming out with cars like this in the next few years. Yes, Camaro VI will be on Alpha, but a Pontiac could be more elegant, romantic and upscale... a poor man's 1-series.
  19. Borger has already said people like us, loyal fans of GM, "motorheads", DO NOT MATTER. He doesn't care if we go or stay. It's the people who don't care one iota for cars that put Toyota where they are, and some misguided freaks within GM (corporate assassins all) think GM has to emulate Toyota. I say no f@#king way does GM need to emulate Toyota, GM has always been a more accessible company than Toyota, and they need to remain so. Turning GM into Toyota will HURT GM, not HELP GM. Killing Pontiac is the supreme height of ignorance. Putting Saturn in Pontiac's place at BPG won't help Saturn sell more cars. Somebody has to face facts... Saturn will NEV VER approach Pontiac's place at GM, or Pontiac's potential within GM. Saturn has no image. They have no history. Any history they made in the beginning is gone, as Saturn is not now what they started out to be... they have been assimilated and homogenized. They are nothing special. Even Pontiac's rebadges (G5 and Torrent) sell, partly because of the mystique of the Pontiac name... the mystique, the image, REMAINS, to this day, through GM's bumbling and mishandling of the brand for so many years. Keeping Pontiac is the right thing to do. Keeping Pontiac distinctive is the right thing to do, even if the division is not ALL-RWD as was speculated and widely hoped-for here among us "motorheads". GM must not kill Pontiac. Killing another brand in NA will snowball in a negative direction for GM. Pontiac customers will be LOST, not "relocated" within what's left of a once-mighty corporation. GM management hoped they'd retain Oldsmobile customers after that division's demise... it did not happen, and it will not happen if Pontiac is killed, either. Market share will further dwindle... dare I predict, even more so than just the loss of all those Pontiac customers... because people... CUSTOMERS, will see GM as a failed, faltering giant, even more so than they already do... mark my words, if GM kills Pontiac, they will lose Pontiac customers, and MORE, due to the perception that GM is falling apart, brand by brand.
  20. Saturn is not a pimple to squeeze on the asscheek of Pontiac. What kind of dip$h! move is it to even entertain the notion of getting rid of Pontiac and putting the bland brand with no image and no history and no reason to exist in its place at BPG? This is blatant, bald-faced corporate assassination coming from within GM's halls and needs to be stopped!
  21. SAAB is another drain on GM coffers with no appreciable return on investment. GM: sell SAAB and kill Hummer.
  22. Saturn is but a single sheet of soiled toilet paper blowing in the wind compared to the history and potential of Pontiac. The Saturn brand has drained billions from GM's coffers with no appreciable results... Saturn is a failure and will remain so.

    For Camino

I see what you mean, 66. I'd die to ride in a hearse.
  24. f... wait. OK, muck. :AH-HA_wink:
  25. OMG Camino, that magazine article is such a family heirloom. I am quite certain you treasure that. Thank you sir, for sharing it here at C&G. Man, I haven't heard the word "magneto" in relation to a car in many moons. You mentioned it was your dad's high school ride, so I guess that's him in the photo? Such a munchkin, he looks quite young and small to be taking on such a project. You are proud of him. That's so cool.
