  1. IF BPG disconnects from GM as a unit, I wouldn't need GM anymore. Especially if Holden goes with BPG. Don't see things happening that way, but I wouldn't complain too much.
  2. The ones I have now are still youg mileagewise. '05 Silverado about 52k '88 V3500 Crew cab 82k (ish) with no miles on new engine - the old one died prematurely due to a bad oil pressure guage. (and the fact that I didn't check when I should have).
  3. Are you kidding? No.
  4. Glad I didn't notice the ugly thing...
  5. Because Brembo got it "wrong". I expect that any buyer that insists will be able to get the revised calipers if they want/demand them. Meantime GM avoided another delay in getting Camaro to buyers. I would have made the same decision, wouldn't you have?
  6. Corporate crash testing? I was thinking about this episode quite a bit when typing my responses in this thread.
  7. The key to this is remembering that it is an Op-Ed. Invective is part of the form.
  8. Just found this on CZ28.com: Okay, here's the official statement on this from John Fitzpatrick: Quote: Some early Camaro customers noticed that there are weights on the Camaro SS calipers. With high-performance vehicles like the Camaro SS, minor brake noise is not uncommon. The weights act as a damper to reduce noise in certain driving conditions. This was done after careful evaluation and validation by our engineering team. These weights will only be added to early builds of the Camaro SS. __________________ So, just like I said...
  9. I'll wait for official confirmation. I've already said everything else I have to say on this short of said confirmation. I no longer give any creedence to articles based on "sources".
  10. The notion that GM can't develop quality architectures without Opel is absurd on the face of it. And, as already mentioned, any deal could see the rights to all current GME-developed architectures remain with GM. GM doesn't need to build cars in the EU in order to sell them there, and the Russian plants aren't likely to be part of this deal. Nor would GMDAT, for that matter. So I have to ask, what goood is Opel itself to GM at this point? Lots of baggage, and no real value they can't cover elsewhere. Let the Germans have it, maybe they can make it work.
  11. One of the main reasons why I call it a boat anchor, with the other being it is way too tied up in German national pride to really act like part of GM. Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say.
  12. Well, it was presented as an opinion piece, rather than a "report". I got a chuckle out of it. As for the "royal" description of Obama, that could just as easily be applied to GWB. In my view, they both have overstepped their authority.
  13. GM has never really gotten to a true "global" level anyway, and Opel is a boat anchor.
  14. Nice. I could swear I've seen the Z28 pic before... Anyway, now you have me missing my f-bods again!
  15. Seeya, Opel... don't let the door hit you on the way out.
  16. Amen. The "service-based" economy is an illusion.
  17. Tastefully excluded.
  18. In that case, I'd bet that he isn't done playing with the GXP yet. :AH-HA_wink:
  19. Sorry about that. I haven't eaten yet today, so don't feel bad. :AH-HA_wink:
  20. That's what the bread is for!
  21. No big surprise here, people are stupid - and they get all worked up over non-issues all the time. The most plausible story I've seen so far is that some squealing had been noticed (presumably on the CTF cars) and this quick fix solved it. The final aspect being that Brembo is supplying revised calipers now. If anything, people should be applauding GM's attention to detail (and this is a most minor detail), instead of getting their panties in a bunch over nothing.
  22. I actually found it to be creative, if a bit derisive. I'll just leave it there.
