  1. It is pure coinsidense that I owned 2 1981 B-bodies in my time. I loved both of them though. Remember 1981 was mostly the start of the engine computer age to a large degree.
  2. I wouldnt mind a second generation Corvair. Although the first generation Greenbrier van is cool.
  3. That is a nice Cutlass. Too bad it would rust horribly like most of them did if one subjected them to winter use.
  4. Shortest : 1981 Chevrolet Caprice 2-door. December 1993-June 1995. Longest : 1981 Pontiac Bonneville 4-door. October 1998- now.
  5. If I had the money. If I had the money. MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Would be a great addition to the Caprice and Bonneville. Then I would just need to Oldsmobile one. They dont get much better than this.
  6. I had that with the Bonneville once Satty. Tightening the battery connections solved it. Not to mention cleaning them.
  7. Nothing wrong at all with Mobil 1 in a young car like your cobalt. Wont try it in my two old ones but I would if I bought new. Or even one with 25,000-30,000 miles. I did use it in a 2000 Monte Carlo and it did allow it to start easier in the cold weather.
  8. I like my 2005 Equinox well enough. It has done a lot of things you wouldnt do with a car. Wish it got the fuel mileage promised by the window sticker but I guess its a small price to pay for what it can do. It think it accelerates very well. But I think new time I want better fuel mileage so I may look at a HHR or Impala. That may come in March when I give it back or I may drive the 2 old ones until late fall 2009 then look for something.
  9. I remember a few years ago when the company that at the time owned us decided to give us a 5% pay cut. Me and a bunch of others quickly became 5% dumber and slower. Best thing to ever happen to us is that they decided they didnt want us any more and a bunch of our own people bought it back. We are a LOT better off and we right now are doing pretty well despite the poor economy. Time for a few changes in November. Thats all I am going to say about the political part of this matter. Good luck to you and your family.
  10. That could work too capriceman. The 350 just is the first thing to come to my head. Dont know though about the transmission. It isnt super strong from GM so a 403 may stress it too much.
  11. SAVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Cool truck. I have a friend who had a 2005 work truck with the 4.3 and I didnt find it to be underpowered. His got about 17 mpg in town and 22 highway. For a full sized truck that is good but in the grand scheme of things it is so-so. And it is always worth it to pay a little extra to deal with a dealership that treats you well. I do the same thing.
  13. What you could also do Satty is find a good Oldsmobile 350 to put in place of the 307. They are still around. Should be able to make the ECM and the other systems work with it.
  14. Sometimes the oddballs turn out to be the ones people someday want. I think AMC cars are going to become worth a lot more as more of them are junked. And especially since AMC doesnt exist anymore. I had a few uncles who worked at AMC but this was before it went downhill.
  15. The Germans didnt believe in cupholders. They thought the car was just for driving in not for eating in too. At least this is what I heard.
  16. Its like the 2-door version of mine. Mine is the same color inside and out. Mine has the wire hubcaps and the regular seats not the pillow seats. As for the 307 engine, I am told by quite a few people that it is a better motor than what Pontiac had at the time. Mine doesnt burn a drop of oil. It leaks VERY little through the left valve cover.
  17. How was it? Like I said maybe some day when I get my millions. Like that is going to happen
  18. The factory suspensions on the GM B-bodies are very soft. I have added heler springs on the Bonneville and they made a huge difference without hurting the wonderful ride. Dad did this with the Caprice as well. Dont expect to turn this car into a speed demon. Neither of mine are speed demons but especially the Pontiac. I added cupholders to both of mine. Both of mine are less equipted than your wagon. Crank windows in both and no rear window defrost on the Caprice. Manual seats and the bench in the Caprice is the one piece one. The Bonnevilles is at least split. Good luck and have a little fun with the wagon. Does the A/C work?
  19. It sure has grown since 1965. You may not recognize it. Most of the big buisnesses have move out by the mall.
  20. I live in a suburb so to speak of Appleton Wisconsin. It is a pretty nice deal if you can deal with the winters we sometimes get. Crime does exist but isnt overly a huge problem. The imports scene is bocoming more widespread every day. I am a holdout though as you all can see of the old domestic ways. Housing prices here are low compared to a lot of parts of the country. Old cars are prized because the winterr road salt is hard on vehicles. here. A reason why I dont drive the old ones in the winter. Appleton by the way has about 70,000 people.
  21. They arent the fastest cars in the world. Mine feels like you need to push it to get it to highway speeds too. The Caprice is better to a point. Neither one will win too many races. There are so many vacuum hoses especially on the Bonneville that one doesnt know where to begin. And the Bonneville acts like it does have a vacuum leak. My fuel mileage ia about 15-24 given the condition it is being used in. Yours may vary. Make sure the catalytic converter isnt plugged. Mine did that when Grandma still had it.
  22. Or a 1977-90 B-body. It isnt a huge problem on the Equinox but the illers are quite a bit thicker than on the B-bodies. In the 14 years I have been driving I have NEVER once came close to rolling a car and I have did some pretty out there things. Like I said, my only thing about a hardtop that I have to ask since I havent ever owned one is how well do they seal out water from a carwash or a very heavy rain? I hear horror stories about that. Still I would someday if the millions come in get a 1975-76 4-door Caprice hardtop.
  23. I also forgot to mention that I almost got a 1982 Toranado. It wasnt in real good shape so I passed. Maybe someday I can or the same bodied Buick Riviera. I drove a 1981 Toranado once and loved it. Those worried about the engine should realize that the 1979 and 1980 version of these cars had the 350 not the 307 that came later.
  24. Actually it was never designed for an Iron Duke. Times change. Dont get me wrong I would love a 1975-76 Caprice 4-door hardtop. But as a whole frameless wondows in my experience are much harder to get to seal properly let alone also trying to seal the middle between the 2 windows.
