  1. Love it.love it.love it. I think maybe this is what I will save my pennies for..I just hope it's out before I'm 40 (June 28, 2010).
  2. junkyard auction
  3. The Viper is an interesting car..not my cup of tea, though...too raw..for that price, I'd rather have a 911.
  4. I found that I really have to crank the volume to hear it with the standard earbuds w/ 30gb video iPod. I mostly use my noise-cancelling headphones with it. I bought a nice hard-shell case by Marware for mine to protect the screen..a very well-designed product, IMHO.
  5. I have the 30gb iPod..I've put about 3500 songs on it so far (13gb approx)...it took a while to rip all those CDs. Been very happy with it and with iTunes. I mostly use it at work, in airports, on planes.
  6. If I had kids, my inclination would be towards a wagon (something like a Volvo XC70), but I can understand the appeal of minivans...they make more sense than SUVs for most families--they have a lot more usable space inside for hauling people and stuff, the sliding doors are practical, etc...
  7. Yes...the steering, balance, handling, RWD goodness and the straight sixes are some of the aspects of BMWs I love...I've always liked the fact that they take sportiness and driver enjoyment as seriously as luxury (or more so). I would never compare a 3-series to a pedestrian appliance like a Camry.... The only negative of BMWs in recent years I think is the iDrive.
  8. I've been to a few In-n-Outs but didn't think they were all that great...Fatburger is better, IMHO..
  9. lack of these features generally would be a deal breaker for me (for a daily driver--for a weekend toy, I can do without some of them): ABS w/ 4 wheel discs side air bags heated seats (its cold in Colorado) power seats/windows/door locks/mirrors 6-disc in-dash CD and iPod jack sunroof interior color choices other than all-gray or all-tan (two-tones are ok) quality interior materials full gauge set usable cupholders (I wish more cars had heated and chilled cupholders) availability of a manual transmission (though in an SUV or luxury car a good 6-speed automatic is fine) I can live without heated mirrors, but they are nice to have... The interior fit and finish, outward visibility, seat comfort, performance (handling, braking, acceleration, steering feel) are more important to me than the exterior styling (i.e. I can live with a Chris Bangle design).
  10. I think that comes from the fact that many of the posters on this board are kids..they don't have kids..
  11. They don't have to be boring, though...look at the Estima..downright sexy for a minivan...not sold in NA, though..
  12. I've been getting these darn '500 Internal Service Errors' for several days now..
  13. Yes, I've always prefered the look of the older ones with the pop-up headlights... I've long been a fan of the NSX..pretty unique car...great to drive (I love the feel of the manual steering), great handling...not a drag strip car, but for the winding roads.. '90s NSX is on my list of cars I want to own eventually.
  14. Thanks for the year end summary.. here's to a good new year..2007! Lots to look forward to from the General in coming months, I believe.
  15. Not much...a couple of glasses of wine w/ dinner and then a glass of champagne at midnight..watched the ball drop on TV.
  16. I don't see the point of remote start, unless you don't have a garage...and it's illegal in some areas (like here--you can get a ticket for having an empty car running).
  17. My coworkers, friends, managers etc have looked at me before like I'm insane for liking and owning American cars... my boss is always asking when I'm going to trade my Jeep on an X5 or ML...or telling me my BMW is old and I need a new one. Another coworker told me I made too much money to be driving American vehicles, like it was a blue-collar thing or something....such is life.
  18. Dinner with close friends and then a low-key house party with a group of friends and coworkers...taking a cab.
  19. I've been happy with Fotki, though they do seem to have a lot of downtime.
  20. True enough...going from something that is rental car material (Alero) to something that is the best in it's class (3-series) is a huge jump. My mother is 75 and bought herself a Lincoln Navigator for her birthday... though I'm a BMW fan and owner, I didn't try steering her into one.. I see nothing wrong with an older person buying a modern sports sedan, though...why should older folks only drive stereotypical fogey cars like DTSes, Town Cars or Buicks? They can enjoy the good stuff also... Speaking of her son's generation which is my generation (Gen X, mid to late 30s)----I can count on one hand the number of people I know in my age range and demographic that actually like domestic cars or own them....pretty much all of my peers drive Hondas, Toyotas, Acuras, BMWs, Audis, Lexuses and would never consider domestic... sad, but true. About the only domestics that I know people owning are SUVs and a few Mustangs.
  21. That's an old photo of a VE Commodore prototype out testing..probably from last year..the information is old in the article--it says 'Of course, Holden will have its own editions as well, to replace the big Commodore and Statesman sedans' which is dated, since the VE is already out..
  22. I really like the Trailhawk...not sure about the Nassau...I like the front, but...
  23. I'm assuming the LaCrosse will move to Epsilon when the Dubyas finally go to the great junkyard in the sky...
  24. Yes... I can relate...I didn't have an Olds myself, but friends did in high school..back in the big '80s, one of my best friends had a hand-me-down '81 Delta 88 4dr with a diesel and the red velour interior..sunroof., tape deck..I remember many times riding around with 6 or more high school students crammed in it...listening to the Cure, Dead Kennedys, the Clash, Van Halen, Def Leppard...tearing around Marathon, Florida, out to the beach, down to Key West, up to Miami a few times to hang out at Cutler Ridge mall.....another friend had a pale blue '77 88, and another had a gold (with brown velour interior) '83 Cutlass Supreme, another a silver w/ silver leather interior Caddy Fleetwood Brougham with Olds diesel engine. My girlfriend drove her dad's '85 Caprice wagon, another girl I hung out with drove an '83 Parissiene. All with whitewall tires and wire wheel covers, IIRC.. Those cars were as much a part of my high school culture and the times as were Mustang 5.0s, Camaro IROC-Zs, and Trans AM GTAs.. Good times...long ago and far away, when I still had hair and weighed 150 lbs..
  25. I assume the plate will be right in the center...attached to the spar below the second grille. Also remember GM will have 4 Epsilons by '09 or so to compete against the Accord and Camry..rather than just the Malibu, it's will be Malibu, G6, Aura, and Buick Epsilon against the world...
