  1. A Holden Commodore rebadge with V8 and RWD would be infinitely better than the current ugly Grand Prix with its FWD and ancient 4-spd automatic, IMHO.. It would be great for GM to come up with a uniquely styled Grand Prix on the Zeta platform, but if they can't do it, the rebadge approach is better than nothing...
  2. Those Rivs are sharp..a friend of mine in college that was black drove a sweet '81 Electra coupe.. kept it clean even through the crummy Ohio winters...dark red, red cloth interior, white top, whitewalls and Buick mags..sweet car.
  3. I went to college with a Richard Head...he went by Dick.. no joke.
  4. True enough... after all, the interior is where the driver spends their time, it better look and feel like quality in a $40k (or whatever price) vehicle...
  5. I didn't do it..I stayed with my Grand Cherokee... but I have consultant friends one bought a Yukon Denali XL and another bought an LR3--that took advantage of it..they use the vehicle as a business expense to drive to and from home and their clients during the week, haul the family on the weekend. I didn't really seriously consider it..I really don't want anything bigger than my GC...
  6. Ahh...body style, not model name...Targa!
  7. I've driven a few Epsilons from Avis (Malibu, Vectra, G6) and they were wide enough for me (6'0", 225 lbs)..
  8. Cool.. a buddy of mine discovered the hard way a few years ago that bbq baby back ribs don't make very good car food...(hit the brakes hard and most of the sauce went on his tan headliner and passenger seat..) And not the mention the horrors of cat pee in a car...(which my sister had to deal with)
  9. Torana?
  10. I would assume that was in reference to the Buick-Pontiac-GMC sales/marketing entity... 3 brands, one sales channel..
  11. I've got a lot of different automobilia... brochures, almost 30 years worth of Car and Driver and Road & Track magazines, lots of other magazines, over 10k diecast of all scales (Matchbox, Hot Wheels, Dinky, Corgi, Johnny Lightning, Danbury Mint, etc), a couple hundred dealer promos, 1000+ plastic model kits, etc... One of the best shows I used to frequent was the Collectible Toy Fair in Toledo, Ohio...2-3 times a year, tons of diecast, model cars, promos, brochures...it was/is a national scale event. My best source for stuff today is ebaY, though...
  12. The 3.6 with a 6-speed auto seems like a reasonable base engine... I suspect the MC won't be around with the Zeta Impala..(NASCAR is switching to the Impala name for '07).
  13. Sounds like they are going to be down to 3 models for '08.. (LaCrosse, Lucerne, Enclave)..
  14. Sweet.. I'm sure their will be the inevitable police package version and a V8 SS... if they want to do 'upscale' like this article suggests, bringing back the Caprice name for such a trim level would be a Good Thing, IMHO...
  15. The Tundra is no uglier than the current kings of ugly trucks--the Ram and Dakota, IMHO..
  16. I don't know about the dimensions, but the STS looks like it has a really short rear...
  17. I don't see the track being an issue..the STS track is only 0.5 inch narrower than a 7-series, and the width is within 2 inches of the 7-series, and within 1 inch of the S-class...remember, modern full-size luxury cars like the LS, 7-series, S-class aren't as wide as the old time Detroit land yachts...
  18. A picture of a bolt...I don't get it.
  19. My mom will probably still be buying cars at 93...she bought a new Navigator last year at 75. My late father bought his last new Town Car at age 78 in '98.
  20. Chevy has done ugly before though...remember the '02-06 Silverados with the scowly headlights?
  21. I'm the youngest of three...my sister is 13 years older, my brother 21 years older. My brother and I aren't that close, don't talk that often..live 1300 miles apart. My sister and I are very tight, live about 750 miles apart, talk almost every day..
  22. I'm sure the base Tundra will be available in white with black bumpers and tiny wheels for those wanting the fleet work truck look...
  23. True enough...I have many coworkers that seem to be only aware of Toyotas...they come to the US, get their drivers license, get a Corolla or a Camry...
  24. A bunch of dumb rednecks out having a laugh, it looks like... it least it was just a worn-out 4dr, not a 442 w-30 or something... they could have used something truly worthless, though, like an '80s Ciera..
  25. Another way of looking at it is that GM's market share is growing in China..the overall market there is growing rapidly, while in the US it's share is declining, and the market isn't growing overall.. GM is putting it's money where the growth potential is...
