Jeep News: Jeep Is Still Interested In A Sub-Renegade Crossover
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Jeep
The Panda is approx. 20 inches shorter than a Renegade, with approx a 10 inch shorter wheelbase. Smaller scale for tight European city streets.. -
A bench seat seems more appropriate for a family CUV/SUV or minivan...a luxury car or luxury SUV is supposed to be cosseting at most maybe 4 people in comfort.

Beautiful interior from above, looks like. Kind of unusual for the front seats and back seats to not match. I like the white leather. Good to not see it on the steering wheel rim, I've seen some cars (Chrysler 200/300) with really light leather or vinyl on the steering wheel rim, seems like that would get grubby quickly. Will be interesting to see how the outside looks..

Acura News: Acura Announces Return of Type S, New Twin-Turbo V6
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Acura
True...typical driving is more stop and go around town or grinding along in traffic on the Shuto Expressways of Tokyo, rather than attacking the corners on the Panorama Highway going up and down Mt Haruna (like a Akina SpeedStars wannabe).- 29 replies

Others may have AWD, but Acura has better acronyms. SH-AWD and PAWS.- 29 replies

That delivery van has some neat proportions..taller than it is long. Found this pic also attributed as a Delcar...kind of a minibus variant?

The hillside lots and the preponderance of one car garages were a big turn off in the Pittsburgh area when I was house hunting there in 2016. I recall doing a walk through on one house where the only flat part of the backyard was about a 30x30ft area that was higher than the roof of the house--at the back door was a wall and steep steps leading up to it.

Looks like a steep driveway the rollback truck is parked on..bet that's fun in the winter w/ ice.

Yeah, very rare cars but way over the top pricing.... as far as a Camaro, I'd rather have the new ZL1 1LE...much wilder styling and way more performance. But there are a lot of rich old Baby Boomers paying these prices at the auctions...will the prices come down in 20 years when they are out of the game?

Tesla Semi starting off with a Bang, Can Tesla Deliver?
Robert Hall replied to G. David Felt's topic in Tesla
Some of that is concept vehicle fluff, I wonder how different the production version will be in details...probably will have normal mirrors, etc.- 11 replies

Now Dymaxion styling would be a cool way to go for a modern autonomous EV...

I think a lot of sales of the old Ranger was not because it was a small truck, but because it was so cheap compared to anything else.

Yes, for some things you just need a truck or van. For moving boxes from my garage to my storage unit, I rented a van for a few hours from UHaul--do it in one trip rather than multiple trips with my Jeep. For hauling tools, soil, trees, etc for yard work, my landscaper and my yard guy have pickups w/ trailers. Different tools for different tasks.

This is an opportunity for the aftermarket...create replacement grilles with the non-cooling parts of the grille replaced with LEDs...so the front can light up in various patterns..or fill the mesh with chrome beads, ala '59 Buick..;)

EV drivetrains could give older cars a new lease on life once gasoline sales are banned..

^^ interesting..had never heard of that movie, googled it, the stills of the car from the movie look like a Porsche 917/30.

Given how xenophobic a lot of the old farts in the hot rodding world are, not a surprise...different niche than the import tuner and JDM crowd.

Googlin' turned up this Prius powered '46 Chevy truck hot rod.. https://youtu.be/_dCdRWQLOPU

I wonder when Car Craft or Hot Rod will transplant a Bolt drivetrain into a '69 Camaro? Or a Prius drivetrain into an old Celica? Seems like something the hot rodders would do..

Saw perhaps the rustiest Ford Bronco I've ever seen yesterday..was sitting at a gas station, snow plow blade on the front...'78-79 style, blue and silver two tone. There were pretty much nothing left of the rear quarter panels--nothing but inner panels from the doors back to the taillights. Rocker panels gone. Door lower areas rusted through.

Had some January thaw weather yesterday--sunny and in the low 40s. Went out and about to a few parks and beaches nearby..

I read up a bit on the Ram 700...built in Brazil from a Fiat Strada...it's pretty old and dated, the interior is an early 2000s gray plastic hell. Available in regular cab and a 3dr club cab. It's probably too dated for the US, but something new like this perhaps could work for FCA.. https://www.allpar.com/trucks/ram/ram-700.html
