  1. The future autonomous transport pods may look like toasters..the future is going to be bold
  2. The other aspect of what I think constitutes a 4dr coupe like the CLS is the frameless door glass...
  3. I don't know about that..look to past eras--a '59 Impala ht has the same roofline as a '59 Coupe de Ville, for example. The squared off formal roofline of the original Seville is very similar to the roofline of the early 80s Malibu, Regal, etc sedans. Especially with GM in the 80s, the stylistic differences between the bottom and top brands was minimal--grilles and taillights identified brand differences.
  4. Hard to tell w/ the silver paint and angle, but the sides and greenhouse look much the same as the current model. The wheel well arches may be slightly flattened on top.. the grille, bumper and headlights are the biggest noticeable differences.
  5. They look better than a FWD appliance, though. I'll admit I'm biased towards RWD styling, though.
  6. I'm not sure of the significance of looking at the roofline alone...you have to see the the full profile. The cheaper cars have the weak FWD proportions w/ the short front axle to door lengths, while the Mercs, Rolls Royce, etc have better RWD proportions...
  7. Pretty weak..looked at the Kia BYO site--the 2.0 version is only available in 3 colors--black, white, silver and with only a black interior. The GT only offers 6 colors--2 are silver--and also mostly black interiors with black and red interior on a couple colors..they need to work on expanding their color palette...
  8. I think the same way about the Bentley Continental and Mercedes S-class coupes when all the windows are down...that hardtop look just screams expensive in today's increasingly coupleless market..
  9. Easy...the Cadillac in the top pic, the Mercedes in the bottom pic.
  10. No surprises..that's the price range for loaded 3-series, C-classes, etc...the compact sport luxury niche is it's target..
  11. In 30+ years of driving, I've mostly only driven in cars with 3 point seat belts, but have driven a few late 60s Fords with the lap belt / separate shoulder belt arrangement. In the 69 Mustang the shoulder belt doesn't have any give, so I can't reach the radio when I have it on, so I drive that car with the lap belt only (drove it a whole 25 miles last year). Just seems so alien to me to drive without 3-point inertia reel style belts.
  12. The Chinese Taurus looks like a Fusion with a more upright rear window..
  13. according to the Book of Knowledge, Vehicles currently using this platform include: 2013–present Ford Fusion (CD391) 2014–present Ford Mondeo (CD391) 2015–present Ford Edge (CD539N) 2016–present Ford Galaxy (CD390E) 2016–present Ford S-Max (CD539E) 2016–present Ford Taurus (D568 China market) 2013–present Lincoln MKZ (CD533) 2016–present Lincoln MKX (U540) 2017–present Lincoln Continental
  14. Especially in 1962. People rarely wore seatbelts then... different world.
  15. After 20 years of living in dry inland states (Colorado and Arizona), living now less than 20 miles from a coast has piqued my interest in coastal towns, beaches and interesting structures along the coasts of the Great Lakes. A few pics I've taken in the last few of months along Lake Erie.
  16. The Camry, Corolla, Civic and Accord have strong, loyal customer bases with many repeat customers. I don't think they are going away. But some of the models with weaker sales numbers may.
  17. And of course I'm standing there w my phone in my pocket...I'm so lazy..I look at the video on my phone from the Ring doorbell before going to the door.
  18. Speaking of package delivery, Monday afternoon I went to the door to pick up packages, and there was a Fed Ex truck, UPS truck, and an Amazon van all in row parked in front of my house, with a postal truck across the street. Should have taken a photo.
  19. A Transit ST could be cool...lowered, with large wheels/tires, more power. Get those Amazon packages to the door quicker...
  20. The body work looks neat on that Pontiac..rear opening door behind the front door. Would be neat to convert the bed area (former flower car?) into a long trunk...
  21. Sure seems to be the way things are going...wonder if the CUV craze will run it's course eventually, and people will go back to cars....
  22. As far as the 'green' image of the Ecoboost or EcoSport names, that's really nothing new...in the past Ford and others had names for vehicles and engines that evoked an image of economy and efficiency---Econoline, Thriftmaster, Scotsman, etc...nothing different.
