    Peter Schreyer went from Audi to Hyundai/Kia...it is interesting how so many automakers have such similar design elements...Hyundai and Audi have some very similar grille shapes, the Q2 has lower bumper vents and headlights that are Kia-esque. And some Hyundai grilles look Fordish, and some Fords grilles look like Aston Martins...and over and over.. GM for the most part can be credited for distinctive styling, models across the brands generally don't have front ends or side profiles that look strongly like non-GM brands...though taillights and rear details often veer toward the generic on some models.

    I'm funny about coupes..I've had a few, had them as my primary car most of the time through my 20s (and a 2dr SUV for winter)..wasn't until my 30s that I starting primarily driving 4drs and 5drs...in my 20s, I was parking outside at school then work, so lots of space for long doors..practical took a back seat to the fun of a 5.0 Mustang... But in living in larger cities and parking in garages mostly for work, a 4dr/5dr works so much better than a long doored two door w/ tiny windows...and 80s-90s coupes had so much better outward visibility.. Though I can see having another coupe sooner or later as a 2nd/3rd car for fun.

    I sat in a new Camaro at Barrett-Jackson...black bunker inside..tiny pill box side windows, low roof (my head was rubbing the headliner), undersized side mirrors, relatively wide car w/ long doors would be a pain in the ass in my real world office parking garage (assigned space underground)... The interior materials and fit and finish seemed better than the 5th gen's Fisher Price interior, though.

    A bit of Land Rover Evoque in the greenhouse, some Mini Countryman also. I guess this could be targeting the GLA and Mokka (Encore if it comes here).

    A modern luxury car w/ a modern interpretation of the style of the Auburn Boattail Speedster or some of the aerodynamic French luxury cars of that era like Talbot-Lago, Delage, etc would be very cool..the 30s had some very artfully designed cars...

    The Phantom really stands out amidst luxury cars..I saw a black & silver one at my bank last week, with the custom front plate 'A$$HOLE'... no doubt suited it's owner's personality quite well.

    Saw a clean, white '68 Pontiac Tempest Custom 4dr ht on Friday, and at the grocery this morning a worn-out '86-87 Fiero GT..faded red, missing various trim pieces incl. the rear side windows and trim.

    I hate when people confuse 'rebadge' with 'platform sharing'. This may share a platform with the new Alfa SUV, but it's not a rebadge--probably not a single exterior panel in common.

    Whilst perusing the latest issue of Collectible Automobile magazine today, I noticed a detail on the early 50s Packard that reminds me of the new Continental--the door handles are mounted up high on the window sills, just like the new Continental...

    I did learn to do quite a few things w my late father on old cars 30 years ago. I helped pull an engine and transmission and later reinstall it on a '69 Mustang, bleed brakes, do brake jobs, etc. But with college, grad school and corporate life, I've become sedentary and used to modern cars that aren't very DIY oriented. And we just had our first 90 degree day yesterday, so that doesn't inspire me to do any physical activity outside. Sick of desert life, I think I will be able to get in better shape and enjoy the outdoors more back in OH-PA.

    Start with the small stuff, oil changes and shocks for example. There's really nothing to it if you know how to use a ratchet. If I had a garage, I'd consider doing some of those things. Not practical in Arizona with a carport. The biggest, most complicated automotive repair I did by myself was in 2009 when I swapped out my driver's seat, seat motors and seat track after the seat track broke (common 2nd gen Grand Cherokee problem). Saved quite a bit with DIY approach.

    EVs are definitely far from perfect....the ranges are too limited, the charge times too long. But for some use cases, I can see they would work great. The near future (next 25 years or so, don't care about time past that) I see a mix of ICE, hybrid and EVs.. I'm a fan of Tesla and as a techie, I do like to see American startup tech companies succeed...they are a great Silicon Valley success story..

    Other than replacing washer fluid, wiper blades, air filters, and the occasional bulb, I leave car repair to the professionals. Though I do think it would very interesting to learn how to work on them, I wouldn't trust myself on my daily driver. It would be fascinating to have work product that is physical, since everything I work with during the daily grind is virtual...

Going electric is good way to say FU to the oil companies, the Texas sleaze and the OPEC filth...

    Nonsense...500 miles at Daytona are custom built race cars. These are stock street cars.

    No DRL....the majority of my night driving has been early morning since I usually leave for work before 7am (which is still dark part of the year). Rarely ever used the high beams either, since most of my driving is city and suburban.

    Random thoughts involving blubs-- my Jeep still has the same headlight bulbs after 16 years. Never replaced them, though I have done a fair bit of night driving. They look easy to replace. The taillight and rear back up and turn signal bulbs are very easy to replace, have replaced them several times..have an issue w/ the right rear tailight/stop light--I've replaced the bulb twice, but it still doesn't light when the brake is applied. Works fine as a taillight when on normally or I apply the brakes w/ the lights off.

    Also, not trying to bash your purchase in any way but how is that 3.7? I just looked up the numbers on it and 210hp out of a 3.7 sounds a little weak? Does it feel better than the numbers? I mean it isn't like 200hp is weak for a smaller SUV it just seems weak for the engine displacement. Actually, back then 210 hp out of a 3.7 was an improvement over 190 out of the 4.0 it replaced...V6 hp numbers are higher now than they were a decade ago..

    Yeah, replace a few black boxes now and then, then recycle after a few years and get a new one, like with laptops..
