and you didn't get pics?! I was on the opposite side of a busy 6 lane street in traffic... but it's only a couple miles from my office, so maybe I'll swing by there tomorrow and try a snag a pic...

Saw a G8 Sportwagon at a local body shop this afternoon here in Tempe....looked like a G8 front clip on a Holden Commodore wagon body, under construction (had the glass out of it, no paint except on the front clip).

I suppose the only way they can cut that median price is buy selling a lot more subcompact and compact appliances, since that is what the sub-30k model mix primarily is, along w/ some midsizers.

Yes, saddled w/ student loans and the worst job market for recent grads in...decades? I remember 1992 when I graduated from college being considered a bad market...part of why I decided to go to grad school back then.

I like the exterior and overall size...I don't care for the dash design or steering wheel, too busy and some weird contours.

Independent Observations - July Car Spotting

Umm, it's August now. There is a new thread for August. -
Saw a homemade 'Avalanche' on the freeway this morning...a worn out red '90s era Suburban was driving along, with the rear roof behind the C-pillars cut off, no tailgate and an open bed with an open rear cab w/ the rear seat visible...weird...

Well, the Captiva does give them a compact CUV...the Equinox is more of a midsize. It is odd that Chevy isn't retailing anything in the compact CUV market (the Buick is more of a subcompact)..

Too bad Ford doesn't do a hatchback coupe version of the Fusion...could look interesting.

GM News: Don Butler Resigns From Cadillac

Ever worked for anything in the mining business? nope...let's see what verticals I've been in over the years... telecom, e-commerce, email software (twice), insurance industry software (twice), aviation (navigation charts and software), banking systems (twice), medical/pharmaceutical-related systems,an electric utility, and now online education. Never done anything automotive (though one of the insurance gigs involved auto warranty-related software)- 15 replies

GM News: Don Butler Resigns From Cadillac
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
I'm sure there is a culture clash between hardware and software... I've never worked anywhere that had hardware products, always been in internet/web software companies or IT software groups that build software to support the company (banks, aviation products, telecom, etc).- 15 replies

Chevrolet News:2014 Chevrolet Volt Sees A $5,000 Price Cut
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
I mentioned this to my coworker that bought a Volt in June. He thinks it's a good thing, should lead to more sales. He's still happy he bought the 2013 rather than wait on the '14, partially because the color he got isn't available on the '14.- 42 replies

GM News: Don Butler Resigns From Cadillac

Sounds like a 'software factory' mentality. Having worked in quite a few software companies (and traditional IT departments of Fortune 500 companies), I've seen a lot over the last 15 years....approaches like like this don't work...- 15 replies

Sounds also like it could be a clogged fuel filter...I had an issue like that w/ my Mustang GT years ago. When my Jeep had the problem w/ the CPS it didn't throw any codes, just died randomly.

Could be an in-progress resto..they've spent the money for bodywork and paint first, haven't spent it on the interior yet...I've seen plenty of cars like that.

I've seen 2 new Impys in traffic this week--one dark blue, one dark red w/ dark titanium wheels. -
Gary Clark Jr 'Blak & Blu' album..

I've noticed that at the Alamo/National lots I've been to this year at Long Beach, San Diego and John Wayne/OC airports. Less so at Denver. So far this year I've had one Camry and 3 Impala rentals.

eh... that might be a one off. Probably dealers doing an end-of-the-model-year clearance as the '14s are coming..

BMW News: BMW i3: The Ultimate Electric Machine?
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in BMW
Yeah, the problem for some buyers is the 328d looks like any other 328 whilst the i3 is distinctive...kind of like comparing the Cruze diesel to the Volt. -

Speaking of obsolete and obscure Mopars, I saw a Dodge 400 coupe in an office parking garage this morning...silver. Haven't seen one of these in forever..
