When did the wreath first appear? '60s? -
Good to hear... I really like the styling of the new Impala, seen a couple of the road, and the local Chevy store has a few on the front row. I'd like to rent one to compare to past impressions of the old Impala (which I've driven a dozen or more as rentals and the Taurus, which I've had a couple rentals of)..

Dodge News: SRT Head Says Dodge Is Sticking Around
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Dodge
I just don't see Fiat building a Camry/Accord/Fusion fighter any time soon. I don't see Dodge having one either, though. Dodge hasn't had a competitive midsize model since.....I can't remember. And esp. if it's going to be a global model, Fiat makes sense as the home for it..- 12 replies

And there is also Fiat and Alfa Romeo in that picture as well.....Fiat for small cars, Alfa Romeo to target VW and Acura cross-shoppers, maybe... Alfa will be going into waters much deeper than Volkswagen and Acura territory. Marchionne wants Alfa to target BMW buyers. That said, there's still room for Dodge. Chrysler will go after VW. Or, to put it another way ... Fiat: Small cars sold here for CAFE ratings. Dodge: Budget performance with heritage. RAM: Truck brand. Jeep: SUVs and crossovers. Chrysler/Lancia: Entry-level premium cars with an emphasis on a higher content of luxury and technology than Dodge. Think Oldsmobile, less Buick or Mercury. SRT: In house tuning division for Chrysler products. Think AMG. Alfa Romeo: Premium brand. Maserati: Luxury brand. Ferrari: Halo brand. That's nine brands total. With the Mopar (just OEM motor parts), Fiat Professional, and Iveco brands thrown into the mix, the number grows to twelve. For the record, that's still a few brands less than VW Group. Tellingly, there is no where in there that I see the "mundane but fantastically selling family car" fitting. Where does the Camry/Accord/Fusion fighter fit? Fiat would be the home for FWD volume models, I would think.- 12 replies

I think I've replaced coil packs, fuel injectors, crankshaft and camshaft positioning sensors on my 4.0L over the last 5 years. The scariest was one of the positioning sensors--70mph on the freeway and it just shut off...no check engine light, no warning...

Chevrolet News:Revealed! 2014 Chevrolet Malibu
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
RWD proportions, I would assume...a lot more length between the front axle and firewall w/ RWD vs FWD; more of the wheelbase is used for the interior on a typical FWD....unfortunately, the short axle to firewall distance in a FWD car is what causes the dreadful proportions and styling when viewed in profile.. -
Chevrolet News:Revealed! 2014 Chevrolet Malibu

The 08 Malibu actually has a longer wheelbase than the new Impala...GM really dropped the ball w/ the Epsilons when they shortened the wheelbases... -
Another electrical thingy to watch out for w/ the 4.0 is the coil packs...I had mine replaced at about 120k when it started running roughly on 4 or 5 cylinders.

I don't remember that concept..the lighting treatment reminds me of the Land Rover Defender, but reversed. Neat concept.

I'll admit, the mileage was a little off-putting at first. The more I checked the Jeep out in depth, though, the more I could tell it really wasn't horribly abused. I'm almost convinced that someone was beyond determined to drive this Jeep until they were on their death bed. Like I said earlier, I've driven and owned XJs with fewer miles that were in far worse condition than this one. It's also neat that I have plenty of reciepts, warranty cards (for the aftermarket stuff), and all of the original books for my Jeep. That's just further proof that it came from a loving home. Usually, someone would've just thrown that stuff away or misplaced it by this point. That's good to have...I've kept a file w/ 13 years of receipts on all the maintenance and repairs that have been done on mine. I do think about driving mine until it falls apart...150k is the next milestone, then 200k...or maybe I should trade it on a Prius as friends have recommended.. :fryingpan: :fryingpan: For the Prius WiseCrack! Yeah, I don't think I'll be doing that...I'm leaning towards a Charger or 300 for my next ride...

Wow..that's a lot of miles..it's the same year as my Jeep, but with 135k more on the clock...

Intersting..didn't know there was such a model.

So many cars today look like slight variations on the same theme inside...similar center stacks, vents in the same place, 2 round guages... boring and predictable. Without the 'H' on the wheel I'd have no idea who made it...

Hopefully they are spending money on the interior also...the current, dated Colorado looks like they budgeted about $10 for the interior--cheap and nasty inside. I agree that the current interior is a bit cheap, but then my 72yr old father has one and loves it and thinks it is perfect so it could also be a bit of perspective. The younger groups just have higher expectations and yet with that said, if they are not willing to accept less features / base level auto's will never be in the reach of someone just starting out. Not every auto needs to have a cadillac interior. The interiors in these trucks would be ok for a vehicle at under $10k, but for vehicles priced $25k or more they seem way off...the S10 30 years ago had a nicer interior than the gray plastic junk in today's Colorado.

Jaguar News: Rumorpile: Jaguar Begins Work On A SUV
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Jaguar
Maybe they are going for a softer CUV approach..though the newer Range Rovers are getting rounded off and softer looking. It's too bad the Defender isn't still sold in the US, always liked it for it's seriousness and no-nonsense design. -

Looks like a solid, non-worn out Jeep...good luck w/ it. How many miles?

I like that ad..it speaks to me as a 40 something single professional stuck in the commuter grind of corporate life..but I haven't stooped as low as to drive a Camry or other appliance.. I could imagine a similar ad for the Charger SRT8 or Chevy SS. Nice to see such cars still exist..an alternative to the generic FWD appliances the zombie masses buy...even if stuck in traffic, it's RWD/V8 and real, not just another bland CUV or FWD 4dr compact..
