  1. For me, I just can't warm to the Genesis and prefer to stick w/ a domestic brand. I've had experiences w/ older Mercedes and they seem to become money pits as they age (esp. w/ the electronics). A CTS, STS, or even a DTS are cars on my radar...as are the Chrysler/Dodge LX models...and even as an ancient as they are, I like the Panthers....
  2. 1st gen CTS or Avalanche?
  3. My Terrain has enough rear room to seat Shaq comfortably with room to spare. That's not a car... that's a CUV.
  4. Stop-start is old news, been available in some models for years.
  5. STSes are nice.I had a couple of them as rentals back in '10-11..had one for a week, seems like a very nice car to live with.
  6. Looked at but no... couldn't do it. You're the warmest so far though. 1st gen LaCrosse or it's Regal predecessor?
  7. I wonder if the RHD models have a different console w/ the parking brake and shifter positions reversed.
  8. I assume they use a console parking brake lever because it's cheap...nothing 'fashionable' about it..and a console pull lever is what the standard control is world wide in cheap midsizers.., since this is a world car, they standardize such controls.
  9. I like those cubbies.... looking at how narrow the center console area is, I can see how most cars in this class would benefit from a column shift and dash handbrake release, free up center console space...
  10. I'm assuming it's because the Malibu is a world model (and the Impala isn't), so it gets a face w/ the Chevy world model styling cues like the Sonic, etc...
  11. Definitely an interesting topic... I may have to replace my Jeep in the next year (145k but still going) and I'm thinking of something full size, low mileage, clean and used for around $25k....late model DTS, Town Car or Grand Marquis, Charger or 300 are on my radar..
  12. The millions of 3 ton light duty pickups on the roads have done far more road damage than a few electric cars will, I think... In time, as the electric auto grow, they will do far more damage than the light duty trucks. .... based on.... what? The short term is the large amount of Green House gas produced for each battery pack built. Longer term is the added weight as more and more auto's get built, that added weight will mount up and cause more wear and tear on the roads. Accidents will I think release more toxins and cause more delays due to the special mixture of the battery packs and the special cleanup equipment. I believeV I don't buy the added weight argument.. the added weight is minimal. Again, compared to the weight of existing trucks (light trucks, medium duty, semis, etc) the weight of cars is inconsequential.
  13. My comment wasn't a "low blow". I was guessing that he got him some powah!! GMCGUY74 I never took your comments as a low blow, I was more thinking the trade it in for the 4th gen Camaro or Accord as a low blow. J/K...was referring back to past BK threads...
  14. Especially if it is as stylish as the Model S and doesn't look like a frog (Leaf).
  15. Saw 5 Tesla Model S in the commute tonight...white, silver, dark red, dark gray, black.
  16. The millions of 3 ton light duty pickups on the roads have done far more road damage than a few electric cars will, I think...
  17. Traded it on a worn out 4th gen Camaro? Or a white Accord from the '90s?
  18. Saw the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile in traffic yesterday...first one I'd ever seen.
  19. A Diesel Chrysler 300? I doubt they would sell it here. Maybe GM and Chrysler should sell all their diesel cars in Europe (once the car market actually recovers) and seed them a little more here. The problem with diesel around here (SW FL) is that diesel often costs as much as premium and only one of every five gas stations NOT on the interstate have diesel pumps. It's already being talked about at Chrysler apparently. They already build it as a Lancia in Europe and uses the same engine the Diesel Grand Cherokee is getting so it's not like it needs any design work to be completed. It just needs to be certified for the US. Who cares if the cost per gallon of diesel is the same as premium? I can go 50% further per gallon and still have Hemi like torque. Also, who cares about how often you find stations that sell diesel? I could drive from Pittsburgh to Philly and back on a single tank (about 600 miles). If you're in your own area, you quickly learn all the stations that have diesel. If you're in an unfamiliar area, never let the tank go below 1/2 before you fill it and download a NAV app that locates diesel stations for you. Those are just excuses for refusing change. In the real world most people are not like you. Most have no idea who the Vice President is let alone what stations have what. Also so many people drive on E and never fill up that never letting it below is not an option since so many never go over full. Yes, the American general public is painfully stupid., Intelligent people buy diesels, the car makers should target them rather than the ignorant masses..
  20. Most of my collection is in storage. 1/18th scale diecast, 1/43rd , 1/24, 1/64, etc.... 1/25th scale promo models, built and unbuilt 1/24 and 1/25 scale models. My next house will have a room or two dedicated to modeling and display.

  22. What diesel is the current Asian-market Colorado using? Something sourced from Isuzu or GMDAT ?
  23. I like the front end, nice to see the grille and lower area separate rather than the single big mouth approach of Audi and others...nice big upper grille, more in the classic M-B tradition. I like the dash, esp. the horizontal focus and lack of a boring, predictable integrated center console and vertical center stack that so many cars have these days..
  24. I sat in the XTS at a car show a few months ago, definitely feels small inside compared to my sister's '00 DTS. Part of the problem is the XTS wheelbase is 4 inches shorter than the DTS and width is 2-3 inches narrower, IIRC.
