  1. Convertibles are great winter cars here in AZ...I try and rent one for a week or so every year. When I have extra garage space eventually I want one as a summer/beach car.
  2. Red car is a '62-64 Studebaker GT Hawk. Has non-factory paint on hood and front trim. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studebaker_GT_Hawk
  3. I guess GM doesn't see the ROI in designing and building such product in-house. If they can't find the ROI in designing and building a global small delivery van, likely based off of Delta III, then they just need to pack it up and stop building cars. FORD CAN WHY CANT GM Bankruptcy (that's been the default answer for GM behavior the last 5 years, probably will continue to be for the next 5-10)
  4. About $3.45 for 87 regular here and about $3.75 for diesel, about the same as premium...

One would think so, but this is GM we are talking about...
  6. Very nice...looks like a '63 Fairlane and a '65 Plymouth Sport Fury ragtop w/ a '70 Charger in the background.. Anyhoo, haven't seen any interesting old cars on the road lately since this is the off season here...but did see a sharp white new Camaro ZL1 convertible (top up, of course) the other day...also saw what appeared to be an early '60s English Ford Corsair sitting a grubby fenced in lot yesterday.

  8. It would cost more $$$ and time for GM to do their own rather than a badge-engineered model. Would be cool to see a sharp angled luxury van for Cadillac..
  9. Probably would have the same problem the original did...would have trouble selling it in the Bible Belt.. Anyhoo, I don't see the point, since the Dart is going to have an SRT4 version anyway..
  10. The G8 GXP had a similar design IIRC also.
  11. They used the name of the old Opel Monza https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8d/Opel_Monza_GSE_vl_white_TCE.jpg That looks like an old 80's Chevy. Forgot the name of the one but I clearly remember this car as a Chevy I think from the 80's. Interesting in that when I did a image search by google and Bing that neither ever brought this car up for me but the older Chevy Monza Prototypes. A google image search on 'opel monza' brings up lots of pics. The Chevy Monza was a '70s H-body (Vega variant). There was also a Corvair Monza in the '60s.
  12. Sounds sweet... love the idea of a diesel hot hatch..
  13. I'm used to replacing batteries every 18 months or so (that's about as long as they last in AZ)...for my Jeep, I usually have get a 'Super Start' 850 CCA model from the local O'Reilly.
  14. Would make a nice Regal wagon here. Would be nice to see wagon than yet another dull CUV.
  15. Well, it will be over a decade newer in terms of hardware, technology and gadgetry...
  16. If Google were to eventually team up w/ Scion to market self-driving cars (since they are already working w/ Toyota on them), then they would take off amongst the youf, I would think.
  17. I haven't seen this site mentioned here, but it's pretty cool...my coworker w/ the new Volt showed me this today--voltstats.net, where Volt owners can track their mileage, etc statistics using data pulled from OnStar...lots of data and graphs to geek out on.. http://www.voltstats.net/
  18. Yet they only moved 841 of the current s-class last month (and at heavy discounts). Last year of the current generation, people are waiting for the new one..
  19. Got to ride in a coworker's new silver blue Chevy Volt today....seemed smooth and comfortable, albeit on a short trip on suburban streets. Also got to see a Blink charging station in use up close, in a client's parking garage...two Volts, a Leaf, and a Tesla roadster all charging up during the work day..
  20. Again calm down. I am not nit picking. What I had in mind were the A bodies F bodies etc. While even they had their differences they also many things the same. I have pulled out 12 bolts from under Pontiac GTO's that were bolted in place from the factory and used fenders for a 68 Camaro that bolted in place of a 68 Firebird with no issues only to be capped and hidden by a Bird bumper etc. While no where near where it got later the basis for these cars were starting to be shared and got worse later. Also, as far as the big cars go, AFAIK the '65-70, '71-76, and '77-xx generation B- and C- bodies within each generation were pretty similar as far as the chassis and other dirty bits (excluding division-specific drivetrains and wheelbases)...
  21. Nice little piece from Auto Extremist on this topic. http://www.autoextremist.com/current/2013/7/1/gm-goes-home.html
  22. I remember Mosler from their race cars back in the day...this is pretty toned down from some of their efforts (some versions of the Consulier had a split windshield) but still violently ugly...
  23. Happy Birthday, guys
