You are probably right...aerodynamics....wedge shapes...

I was behind some fins the other day in a parking lot...guy was driving a primer gray '60 Caddy 2dr ht, black steel wheels and whitewalls... pretty cool to see a 50+ yr old car out and about....one of my favorite Caddy fin designs is probably the '61--sharp pointy fins + skegs FTW. The wierdest fins also were in '61 IMO---Dodge's reverse ones, specifically the Dart,, I don't know if fins could make a come back, but I'd love to see longer decklids again...it's just so striking how long the decklids on the typical full size (or even '60s midsize cars) were in the '50s-60s...I wonder if the currently ubiquitous stubby tall tail look will ever go away...

Saw a dark gray '14 Silverado Crew Cab in traffic tonight....1st one I've seen on the road...

Neat.. My Jeep has only been in 5 states...Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona. Put over 140k miles on it in over 12 years. My '87 Mustang GT, on the other hand, has been in 22 states (midwest, east, south, west to Colorado). Did a lot of road trips in it the first 10 years I had it. Has only 63k miles. (forgot Connecticut on the map, but I did drive through there on trips from Ohio to Boston). The other cars I've had have been only in 1-2 states each. I've visited more states, but those have usually been fly-n-rent-a-car trips (Hawaii, the West Coast states, etc). The only states I've never been in are Alaska, Idaho, Montana, the Dakotas, Wisconsin, Kansas, and Mississippi.

At one time in Canada the Dodge Intrepid was sold as a Chrysler, seen a couple w/ Chrysler spelled out on the doors, didn't see if they had the winged Chrysler badge on the front or rear though....which doesn't make sense--Dodge has been a brand in Canada for decades, right?

Good news: you land a dream job. You really, really like it. Bad news: After a few months, they hire your old boss (that you despise) to be your new boss. (been there, done that)

uline magazine storage boxes are the bomb...I boxed up almost 5 years worth (since April '08) recently and took them off to my storage unit. Except for a couple, I've gone electronic on car mags and read them on my tabby.

Chicago Auto Show: 2014 Toyota Tundra: Comments

The dash looks much better than the F150...kind reminds me of a mashup of F150 and '05-09 Mustang dash themes...- 6 replies

Detroit Auto Show: 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray: Comments
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
I bet the aftermarket will come up w/ a chrome trim piece to overlay the grille inspired by the toothy '53-60 appearance. Looking at the pictures in Car & Driver and Road & Track, I realize I don't think I've seen a picture of the base model w/o the rear spoiler--the deck spoiler is part of the Z51 package according to the mags. I like the interior, at least from the pics I've seen so far... For some reason, everytime I see the new crossed flags badge I think of an older Firebird badge..- 49 replies

Actually there's sound logic in merging the Equinox and the Trax in the future. Different size niches, though. Other makers have a range of CUVs from subcompact to compact to midsize to fullsize, so there is room for a Chevy compact and a midsize, or a subcompact, compact and midsize.. A small Chevy CUV to compete w/ the RaV4, CR-V, Juke, etc has been needed for sometime, the Equinox slots in more w/ the Edge, Highlander, Pilot, Murano, etc.

Maybe they want to position the XTS longer-term as Cadillac's volume sedan..i.e. it's Lexus ES equivalent...
-
In Mexico for at least 10 years or so the Grand Marquis was sold as a Ford, though they still had Mercury badging on the front, w/ a Ford oval on the decklid..

Chevy SS... I'm sure the magazines will do a comparison like this in a few months (assuming the Chevy SS is still coming).
-
The current Insignia has the same SWB as the Regal and Malibu, maybe the next gen (Epsy III?) will have a longer wheelbase (or the next XTS will go to a shorter wheelbase).
-
Makes no sense...you would think they would have a rebadged Fiat something there by now instead of Hyundais..

Spring weather here lately, 78 today...saw a sharp red '69 Corvette today w/ the t-tops off... saw two white '12 Mustang Boss 302s last night, parked together in a restaurant parking lot...also a white 5th gen Camaro w/ orange stripes and a dark gray Camaro SS convertible in the same lot.

It would be interesting to see if GM could produce something of similar size, weight and performance.
