  1. The hideous wreck is a famous custom car, IIRC. '40 Ford or something like that...it looks familiar from some context, but I can't place it.
  2. Would be nice...I can't see Lincoln as it is today (FWD appliances) surviving..
  3. I picked that photo because it is so not Arizona...gives me something relaxing to look at when I get tired of looking at the dry hideous desert void outside... I also have a background picture of Aspen, Colorado's Maroon Bells on my laptop..
  4. So...Avalon, Azera, Maxima, Taurus, Impala, LaCrosse...the FWD full size mainstream sedans..new Impala and LaCrosse are the best looking of them, IMO.
  5. To be chauffeured, the Eldo or Imperial would work quite well. To drive, though, I'd want 1957s best looking American car, IMO..
  6. It was an Anglo-American venture, built by Ford in England, developed by Americans and Brits. The book 'Goes Like Hell' is a very good book on this subject...
  7. Mmmm..diesel GC and 8spd automatic. Nice.
  8. I do wonder if the size shortcomings of Epsilon II (narrow, short wheelbases) are due to it being an international platform...with versions of the Regal/Insignia and Malibu in many markets.
  9. Wasn't the Chevy LUV diesel a collosal failure? They had to crush a bunch of them after the S10 came out because they couldn't sell them IIRC.
  10. I guess people w/ Cruzes should park them outside until they get the recall fix.
  11. that would be a simple fix. delta is like 105.7 wb? delta = 106 next size = should be like 110 next size = 114 sonic size should be like 102 Caprice size should be 118 you can build pretty much 90% of the cars you sell on three size wheelbases. the regal and malibu would really benefit for 2 extra inches of stretch in the back seat. Problem is the current Epsilon II wheelbases are both quite small--107.x and 111.x.
  12. Maybe Ford given their history...Volvo seems like it would be a more viable upmarket brand for Ford than dead-brand-walking Lincoln.
  13. It's a moot point arguing with some people...some people will never embrace new and different ideas let alone understand them. They fear change.
  14. Seems like the Delta II and Epsilon II cars are too close in size, esp. wheelbase.
  15. Lovin' those cars and mountains pics..
  16. Cool...Maserati hasn't had a mid-engined sports car in over 30 years (Merak was the last one IIRC).
  17. No. BMW/MB are using FWD only for subcompact and compact entry level models...they aren't using them for SUVs or regular sedans (yet).
  18. My brother had a white w/ red interior '59 coupe..interesting car. I prefer the '61-63 and '64-66 generations.
  19. Interestingly, I don't think that sharing Thetas/Epsilons is the way to get there... There might be other alternatives... What Cadillac still needs is a clear focus and then aim for that focal point. I don't think it is either, but that's an approach that has been successful for Lexus--their two highest volume models (RX,ES) are on generic FWD platforms, and they use RWD platforms for their more serious models. So it is an approach that has precident in the market.
  20. Pn the morning commute saw something unusual--a custom Geo Prizm...rolling on large wheels/tires, shaved badges and door handles, well-integrated ground affects and custom fascias, in a bright blue similar to Chrysler B5 Blue, with the personalized plate 'SURFACE'.
  21. It would be nice to see wagons in the US again, a nice alternative to CUVs.
  22. You have this one nailed properly. The Ferrari kicking should come from Cadillac. I know there are people who talk about the Corvette as if it is the god of ultimate cheap but fast performance and it is for what you get in a ZR1, but we are beyond this and only Cadillac could attempt and deliver a true luxury performance auto. Chevy and Cadillac are two different markets. The thing is, the Corvette is the sports car..it's the one beating Ferraris in international competition. Cadillac is a luxury brand, competing with Mercedes, BMW, etc. Different niches.
  23. Sharp car...wasn't the '89 IPC the Firebird w/ the special rear hatch (tunneled rear window, not the usual big glass window like this one)...or was that another year?
  24. Chevy seems to have no interest in coupe versions of the FWD models or even sporty versions...
  25. it competes but has shortcomings.. I suspect the Malibu will be at the bottom of the list when the magazines do comparisons w/ the new Focus..it hasn't done well in the comparison tests so far..
