Sounds like too much work to moderate.

There were quasi-luxury versions of the Matador available (Pierre Cardin). The Fury doesn't belong--the '75 mid-size Fury was to Plymouth what the Torino was to Ford or the Malibu was to Chevy---a regular mid-size 2dr. And the Regal and Cutlass Supreme are missing, as they were their brands' equivalents of the Monte Carlo or Grand Prix.

Look up 'The Shocker' in the urban dictionary (It's a rather NSFW gesture). Was used on a '70s Datsun race car, BTW...2nd time I've seen a refererence to this symbol in the last couple days.
-
The list is missing a couple--the Buick Regal and Olds Cutlass Supreme. Depending on the budget, I'd go for the Cutlass or Grand Prix, or all-in for an Eldorado or Mark IV.

21,000 Mile 1982 Chevrolet Celebrity
Robert Hall replied to wildmanjoe's topic in Auctions and Classifieds
Interesting..haven't seen an early A-body in forever, let alone a 2dr one. So GM had a 2.5 4cyl 30 years ago, just like today.. One thing interesting about the proportions and styling...look how long the hood and decklid are compared to FWD models of today...and all the glass, probably has excellent outward visibility.. -
So have you actually gone and looked at one in person, sat in the back seat and truly checked it out yourself or is this just part of the reposting of other comments? I sat in one...the rear door openings seem rather narrow and not much legroom with the driver's seat all the way back. But that's not surprising since they cut they wheelbase by about 5 inches when they moved to Epsilon II.

Wow...looks like quite an action flick....

Cool... mice are have always been a presence in my family barn and garages in Ohio..my folks always put rat poison in pans in the older, less driven cars..so the cars always smell of rat poison..

The Lexus hybrid has more gears, more cams, and is probably heavier, though.

Chevrolet News:How Much For The Camaro 1LE, ZL1 Convertible?
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
The pricing of the Camaro gives room for performance versions of the Spark, Sonic, and Cruze in the sub-30k market... -
Interesting how the radiator hose attaches to the side of the block.

It's pleasant enough looking as far as compact FWD appliances go. I wonder if their will be a new Koup?

True enough..I remember seeing a lot of domestics in NE Ohio when I lived there 20 years ago..

It is funny but I even saw 2 different Citations in the last week. Barretta's are very common and they may not be pretty but they keep on running. I saw even saw a beat up Pace car one Saturday. Most old GM cars are the choice for winter beaters or first cars for high school kids. They are easy to find, cheap and easy to repair and keep on running and running. The guy I work with has a Grand Am that is on the original engine and tranny and will hit 300,000 this fall. Now keep in mind that we also live in the snow belt of ohio where they even salt the road when the sun is out and they are clear. On the other hand it is rare to see any Asian cars older than 12 years old. Most have rotted away or were more expensive to fix than they were worth. An very old Honda here is rare. Quite different here in the dry Southwest...I see a lot more '90s Asian and European cars than domestics of that era in the daily commute. I can't recall the last time I saw a Beretta, Lumina, or any FWD GM that old.

Cadillac News: Rumorpile: Cadillac Flagship Gets Approved
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
The XS is the MKS/ES competitor...i.e. FWD lux sedan. It's not really in the same heirarchy as the RWD cars...i.e. the ATS/CTS/future flagship. Cadillac is building towards a structure similar to Lexus's core lineup it seems...FWD volume sedan, FWD/AWD volume crossover, big RWD/AWD SUV, and 3 sizes of RWD/AWD sedans... -
Speaking of the MKZ, I saw a Zephyr in traffic today..forgot about that car (the 1st model year of the MKZ was called Zephyr).

You're not convinced that GM can build a car that can last, yet you run straight to the manufacturer with the absolute shortest testimony on build quality (of which the jury is still out on) just because of a 429hp V8........ You make no sense dude... not that you ever have. Valid point, but the Genesis has a bigger warranty than anyone else, so if something does go wrong it is covered. And as mentioned, they depreciate so they don't cost that much on the used market. The Genesis gives a lot for the money. I'm not saying I'd buy one, but I'd consider one. I'd rather have a Jag, but they cost a lot. I still couldn't see myself buying a Hyundai..seems like too much of a low-end brand like LG or Samsung is in consumer electronics.
-
Not necessarily..the article says 'basis', not badge engineered. It will share the same Epsy Dos platform and wheelbase as the DTS does w/ the '13 Impala and LaCrosse but likely have it's own body, interior, etc?

What rust? That's just dust as far as dirt is concerned. It's way cleaner than my '81's engine bay and my car is stored in winter too. Looking at the firewall, hood hings, Brake system, I just see lots of rusts for a car that supposedly been always garaged. In a damp climate, it seems to me like it would be pretty normal to see surface rust on some of the dirty bits even for a car that is always garaged...
