  1. Not to continue to go further off tangent, but were there other Buick concept cars from GM in the 60s or 70s other than the XP715 and Silver Arrows? Don't think I've seen any mentioned in the literature...
  2. Add another 'p', rearrange the letters, and you can get the currently trendy buzzword 'derp'.
  3. I wonder why they don't use struts like hoods or hatchbacks use instead of the gooseneck hinges?
  4. Saw a sharp bright red '78-87 El Camino (could only see the rear 2/3s), had what looked like 19-inch ARE TTs. Saw a sharp white (no vinyl top) '76-77 Monte Carlo w/ large (19-20 inch) chrome wire wheels on white wall tires. Not sure what this style is called, wheels are too big to be a traditional lowrider. Saw a primered '72 Monte Carlo w/ the same style wheels and tires as the '76-77.

  7. Well, since Ford is one of Chevy's main competitors in the US, I would expect the Cruze to priced similar to the Focus.
  8. I would hope they would have an 8 speed by then..the competition is moving to them now...I assume the next 3- and C-class will have them.
  9. I didn't realize the sedan was different from the current one until I looked a second time...subtle changes to the greenhouse and lighting.
  10. I wouldn't mind having a Lincoln...but it's got to be at least 4000lbs, V8 and RWD. I grew up w/ my folks driving Continentals and Town Cars (my Dad bought a new one every few years from the mid '70s to the mid '90s). I just can't jibe 'Lincoln' with a small FWD car..
  11. The way I like em equipped they are $35k or so...V8 and loaded. I've priced out the Charger R/T, Mustang GT, Camaro SS, Challenger R/T online a few times.. which is reasonable, my Jeep was over $30k when I bought it in '00...a similarly equipped V6 GC Laredo would be close to $40k now. I'm holding off on pulling the trigger on a new car for right now, got a bigger purchase in mind in the next 12 months or so..
  12. Hmmm..the sedan looks pretty much the same as the current model...the coupe looks like it has a similar greenhouse as the Accord coupe.. Plus there will be 2 more hatchback bodystyles for Europe and other markets. Well, Honda is a small company..they have a few models, a few platforms to spend their $$$ on..so they can be focused. GM has to spread their $$$ across many models, many platforms...
  13. No idea...been a while..at least back to '03-04, because I remember being around a while when the big event happened in Aug 05. I realized the other day that one of the modeling forums I'd been on since 1999...
  14. Yes, same here...like all those...wouldn't mind having any of those in my garage..the good stuff is all $30-40k minimum, though...anything under that are FWD appliances... I wouldn't mind having a 3 car garage w/ the Grand Cherokee, Charger, and Challenger. That would suit me fine for the next 10 years... Alas, back to reality. I can afford 1 of those 3 new, which to pick?
  15. Yeah, but for the same price you can move up to a well equipped Sonata, Accord, Altima, Camry...I couldn't see a general consumer buying a Verano over those..
  16. I wonder how many buyers are going to glance at the Verano, then shuffle down to their Hyundai/Honda/Toyota/Nissan store and go with a predicable, safe choice...
  17. It would probably cost as much as a new truck to restore it...be a money pit.
  18. But the 2010 car would have a lot more content--(more than am radio plus A/C, etc) and comfortable, adjustable seats rather than a blah bench.. What amazes me about the '62 Buick is just how basic and plain it is...looks as stripped down as a Chevy II.
  19. ? Not sure how that relates to a contemporary cab forward FWD design. Different time and place..the '62 Special was a RWD compact w/ a relatively upright windshield and conventional proportions for the time. Had a very basic interior w/ bench seats and no console or center stack. Just a lot of empty space..
  20. That was the Skyhawk..different bird. It was a Monza clone then a Cavalier variation. Skylark was many things.. the '53-54 fullsize convertible, an early '60s compact, then a midsize, then a Nova clone (started as the Apollo in that form), then a FWD X-body as it's first FWD variation...then came back as an N-body.
  21. You can't compare the pillar window to those, though...those are like the old time vent windows, except they don't pivot out--they are still within the door frame. These new ones like on the Verano, Civic, Prius, etc are in front of the door at the base of the a-pillar. Not part of the door. One of the oldest designs in the NA market to use this little window may have been the Ford Aerostar back in the '80s.
  22. Yeah, started w/ minivans, I think...the first car in NA w/ it may have been the Prius back in '04. Then the Civic a few years later..
  23. Welcome back...long time no see. Sad to hear the Regal is gone, you had that car a long time, didn't you?
  24. 2012 NAIAS? If it's supposed to be a MY 2013 release...
  25. It's a good issue...I've been reading Scale Auto for over 20 years.
