  1. On the other hand, I don't like the idea of secret diplomatic documents being stolen and released...that's unethical journalism. I wouldn't be surprised of Julian Assange ends up disapeared courtesy of the CIA.
  2. I wasn't surprised...I suspect many Middle Eastern countries, esp. those that have a lot of financial/business ties to the West, aren't too happy about the prospect of an armed and dangerous Iran...
  3. Interesting...the one I drove a few months ago seemed pretty buttoned down, the steering was light, but didn't seem overly artificial. I liked the hefty feel and size of the car...I got to drive it on a mix of So Cal freeways, city streets, and twisty canyon roads..only really noticed the FWD when I squealed the tires on a couple corners. I'd love to drive a SHO, though..sat in one yesterday, with the saddle suede seat and door inserts...love the interior.
  4. Saw another Lincoln Blackwood today...and a couple base '10 Camaros, a red one and a white one, both w/ the black steelies w/ trim rings.
  5. I bet that driveway is fun in the winter when it's covered in ice.
  6. Saw one today..not bad. Saw and sat in the Equus, that is pretty nice in a garish sort of way.
  7. The XJ-C was only built from '75-78..pretty rare. Would look better w/o the lame blackout, though. They came w/ vinyl tops standard (because otherwise the roof paint would crack since they were a 2dr ht). I think the XJ-C was Jaguar's only 2dr ht ever..
  8. Let's see...some typical road test questions--how is it to parallel park? How is the rear and side visibility? How are the cupholders? Seat adjustability? I bet the turning radius is huge...
  9. Saw a silver current gen Merc E-class wagon yesterday. Sweet. Didn't realize MB was selling the current gen wagon in the US.
  10. Too far to drive to for a long weekend for me..heading off to the airport to fly to Ohio later...
  11. Speaking of Pontiacs, one model that I've only seen once in person is a '67 2+2..great looking big car. Saw a black one in Ohio at a show maybe 20 years ago. I've also seen a sharp gold '64 Parisienne convertible in Denver a few times.
  12. Curious...the only racing context I recall reading of older Cadillacs in was the Carrera Panamerica and Le Mans in the early '50s.
  13. Ya, it's pretty much only on road trips on wide-open interstates that I use cruise control. Never in my usual commute..it's a 'nice to have' but not essential to me.
  14. Yes..the corrupt corporations that would outsource 99% of US jobs if they could.
  15. LoL..the Indian workers I've worked with over the last decade or so come here on an H1-B visa, buy Toyotas, houses, and raise families..they rarely go back..
  16. Or crumbles into fragments.
  17. Saw a very sharp, shiny gold '72 Olds Cutlass Vista Cruiser w/ woodgrain on the lower body.
  18. About the only nicknames I've used to refer to my own cars were referring to my '87 Mustang as 'redstang' when talking within family, to distinguish it from 'graystang' (when I had the '86 LX) or 'whitestang' (the '69). My brother has similar nicknames for his Mustangs (black pony (82 GT), pacecar pony (79 IPC), white pony (85 GT))... My sister's Mercs have the nicknames 'Big Dog' (the '84 500SEL, as the Big Dogs (CEOs) in the big 80s drove 'em) and 'red ride' (her nickname for her 300CE). For my Jeep, I refer to it as the 'JGC' occasionally... As far as brand or model nicknames in general, I often use 'Mopies' to refer to Mopars/Chrysler products, Mercs for Mercedes..
  19. Fascinating...I may have missed this earlier in the thread, but did the previous owner start a restoration and stop? I.e. why was the interior torn apart? Do you have any of the interior parts like the dash?
  20. Don't LEDs typically last longer than regular bulbs?
  21. Saw a Lincoln Blackwood, and a red MGA and a white MG-TC driving together on a cool, sunny Saturday.
  22. Important questions for a 2dr---are the doors too long for the get in/out in a parking garage spot test? Are they heavy? Do they have positive detents so the door wont close on you when parked uphill?
  23. 'Through Tears of Joy' by Orchestra Lunatica.. very cool post-rock instrumental in a similar style to Sigur Ros or Explosions in the Sky...great chill out music...this track was probably the best part of the movie 'The Losers', besides Zoe Saldana (she is so hot).
  24. Of the hard working Canadian immigrants I know, it took them about 7-10 years of full time work here before they got their green cards...and these are well educated six-figure income professionals.
  25. How's the side visibility? The sills seem quite high.. Ease of ingress/egress, front and back? Seat adjustability? Cupholder usefulness?
