  1. How about the mainstream choice---Accord, Camry, or the new Prius? Rob
  2. In the afternoon commute, I saw a clean white w/ red interior '64 Ford Fairlane 500 ht. Also saw a blue Chevy Corsa sedan and red Chevy Astra sedan, both with Sonora plates. Rob
  3. I don't mind overhangs if the shape is balanced overall..it's the short wheel-to-door distance on most FWDs that I don't like. Wheel wells shouldn't intrude on the driver footwell on a front engined car, IMHO. Rob
  4. Oooh... the Atom is definitely a car I'd like to have. So living near a track where I can get track time is important. Rob
  5. I prefer it backwards, hanging from the back. More efficient, less waste. My thing w/ TP is my fear of running out. I like to keep at least a 24 pack of Charmin in each bathroom at all times. Even keep a 4 pack in each car in case of emergency (i.e. violent reaction to spicy restaurant food). Rob
  6. Driving to work this AM-- a 20-something blonde driving a clean green and white '69-70 longbed Chevy pickup... Cool.. a very clean red w/ black top '67 Mustang coupe. Another '10 Camaro, this time a bright red SS. This makes 6 different '10 Camaros I've seen in the last week.... Rob
  7. I'd take a year to go to travel to many motorsport events, classic car shows and museums. Goodwood Festival of Speed, Monterey Historics, Indy 500, a few F1 races in Europe, the Paris Retromobile show, the 24 hrs of LeMans, Detroit Woodward Dream Cruise, Pebble Beach Concours, Meadowbrook. Travel and see various racetracks, like Imola, Spa, Brands Hatch, Laguna Seca, Lime Rock. Visit Stuttgart, Maranello, etc. Attend a driving school or two--Bondurant, Jim Russell at Sears Point. Buy or have built a nice 20 car garage/barn w/ a decent sized house. Not sure what metro area, but probably not PHX. Build an eclectic collection, with a mix of current/late model favorites (G8 GXP, CTS-v, Camaro SS, Bullitt Mustang, Mustang Shelby GT500, Town Car, Marauder, CVPI, Challenger, etc) for daily drivers and some '60s-70s classics. Rob
  8. This is turning into a truly great non sequitur thread of randomness
  9. Only if you are making a call, i.e. using it as a 'phone'. But you can also type a text message, an URL, etc...
  10. Maybe it's a European thing.
  11. Hmm....good catch. The mystery continues. I wonder what a Dodge or Chrysler rear of the same year looks like? Rob
  12. Looks like a round hole down low (branch sticking thru). Here's a pic of a '35 Plymouth..the rear window shape and raised character lines are similar.. That hole could be where the fuel filler was..found some pics of a '33 Plymouth that look like that..
  13. Hmmm..the rear of the body is pretty flat and vertical, could be a truck...hard to tell from the pic how far forward the body goes...and that almost looks like a piece of a b-pillar (wood?) on the left. Rob
  14. You're older than me... Rob
  15. Hmm....don't think I've ever thought of it as 'keying'...it's always been typing to me, whether on a computer or a phone.. Rob
  16. Ah...that one. Something ancient. Car bodies from the early 30s all look alike to me, pretty hard to tell apart, IMHO. Rob
  17. Ahhh...the new GM wants you back?
  18. Strange...I saw a Prius w/ it's flashers on the side of the freeway this morning, far left breakdown lane by the HOV lane. A Toyota? breakdown? That's unpossible!! Rob
  19. Hmmm..wild guess, but maybe an early '50s Chrysler hardtop like this '52 Windsor..the quarter window shape, roof shape, and rear fender placement look similar..
  20. I wonder why they went retro and didn't use a current 300C instead...
  21. I think those proportions look fine on a mid-engined car, though... But on a FWD car, not so much.
  22. True enough. It's not really the all-out handling capability that turns me off of most FWD cars--it's the styling..far too many of them have such short front wheel to front door dimensions and long overhangs, they look wierdly proportioned to my eye... Torque steer seems to be largely a thing of the past in most FWD today. Speaking of FWD, the nicest handling FWD cars I've driven are a last gen (4th?) Prelude, a Focus SVT, and an '04 VW Golf GTI...really liked the Golf all around..love the interior of that vintage Golf. Rob
  23. The OEM Goodyear Eagle GTs on my Mustang lasted about 20k miles. But that was 20+ years ago. Their replacement Eagle GTs lasted maybe 25 miles, and the replacement Firestone Firehawks have less than 20k on them. Rob
  24. Interesting...I think that is the eastern part of the US 50 I've driven on in Colorado and Utah...goes through some pretty desolate landscapes. Also been on it in Ohio years ago. Rob
  25. My Dad used to do that, look for places to pull off when were on 2 lane roads in the Winnebago and traffic backed up behind us... A 35 ft RV towing a car can't go too fast on 2 lane roads...we usually stuck to the interstates, but to get to many National Parks, etc you have to take the two lanes... Rob
