1. Would be nice, but Cadillac probably only has 1/100th of Mercedes development budget... A hardtop with a rear and greenhouse like the last Eldorado would be great, but not going to happen. (I thought the last Eldo would have made a great hardtop...)
2. Agreed...I think most of us that are living in <reality> appreciate modern features in a car...HVAC, AM/FM/CD/iPod integration, power everything, heated seats, 4 wheel disc brakes w/ ABS, safety features, etc. I want all the goodies. I appreciate the oldies also..fun to look at at car shows, but certainly not something I'd want to deal with everyday...
3. Here's a pic from a few years ago in Venice..shaved head, looked fat..
4. I can see a market for a modern, 4 cyl Caddy..Audi has such models, and Merc, BMW, Lexus have them, at least outside of the US...
5. It's almost a hatchback like shape, but with a trunk. The shape almost reminds me of a modern interpretation of the wierd '78-80 Olds and Buick A-body coupes.
6. Yea...that was in the '80s.... didn't see anything that fit the old 'Keys Cruiser' standards when I was down there last month. Because of the salt air and humidity, cars rusted as bad in the Keys as they did in the Rust Belt.
7. Who knows? It's not BOF, not a hardtop, doesn't have a pushrod V8 and a carb... 68 will never accept the modern world, I'm afraid..best to just ignore his sad, delusionary rants...
8. I'm a tech nut, I'll admit it...working in the computer software industry, I'm always interested in the Next Big Thing...the next cool gadget...and naturally, that extends to cars as well...always looking forward. The past is gone, no point in dwell on or in it..
9. Never said I hated them...it's just the market has moved on....OHC is a necessity for premium cars in the market, perception or not..
10. Could this be the rumoured Alpha? Hard to believe GM would commit to a small RWD model... Autoweek Article
11. I always wondered why they did the Tempest for Canada--seems like it overlapped with the Grand Am in the generic sedan segment...
12. ??? How is something from 77 years ago remotely relevant in 2008???? You have to stop the dreaming and wake up to reality...
13. Yeah...check back in 4-5 years.
14. Interested custom taillight treatment.. I see the wierd doorhandles are still there... that was the one detail on the concept I didn't like.
15. That's a feature I'd definitely want...I have a Western Digital Passport hdd that I back up my iTunes to... it's strange, Sync is still not available on the Mustang....I wonder why.
16. I think the poor gas mileage is going to hurt them in these times though....5 years ago, they might have done great...now, not so much.
17. competition
18. That's too negative... unfortunately, it is what it is...I can't go back and live when I was born in 1970...have to live for today and the future.
19. They are cheap...about $25, every two years. And both of these states do their registration based on a percentage of value...AZ seems higher % than CO, my Jeep was $150 last year in Denver, about $220 this year in Phoenix. The first year I registered my (2000) it was $550 in CO IIRC. Some states, like Ohio, do flat rate registrations, IIRC.
20. Here's another article, with an interior pic...neat looking car, interesting story.. Corvette 2 rotor concept
21. QUOTE(Pontiac Custom-S @ Aug 24 2008, 07:10 PM) The SUV will only live as long as there is 2 dollar a gallon gasoline. I don't see gas in the US going back to $2 anytime soon. $4 is the new $2.
22. They certainly were in the Midwest...rust killed them even if the engines went on longer. People drive a lot more miles today per year, so the miles rack up faster. Anyway, neither here nor there, the past is gone. Today's cars are better, safer, more efficient, more reliable than those from the past. What is going to be interesting is how cars are going to evolve in the next decade.
23. I've seen it several times this evening...arrgh.
24. The thing is about longevity, cars today tend to go longer than the did in the past...30-40 years ago a car was usually worn out at 100k miles...today's cars are generally much more reliable over the long run...
25. And you think the Republicans will do any better? Look at the disaster of the last 8 years...the economy in a tailspin, massive increase in the deficit, run away spending, etc...the Republican party couldn't care less about the 'common man'..they are only interested in serving their corporate masters.
