  1. I predicted $5.55 by Labor Day, so I was a bit off..
  2. Could be..I had heard oil shale was cost prohibitive at previous $/barrel levels...ultimately, though, I think we have to find a way to move away from oil dependence...hybrids, electric cars, fuel cells, nuclear, plutonium, water, air, dirt, something...
  3. Offshore drilling won't do any good, though... that's something that will take 5-10 years to see any ROI..
  4. There are a lot of people living in the past, thinking it's still 1941. In a global economy, such simplistic jingoism doesn't fly..
  5. The thing is, we really don't know if the price is going to stabilize at $3.75 or wherever... given worldwide demand that is growing, instability in oil source regions, there is no reason to think it won't go up again in the US, to $5 or more within the next few years..so it would be pretty short-sighted to go buy a Hummer now..
  6. Well, they are trying for a world car....look at the original Focus..it was a world car, didn't look distinctly 'American', but did well here..
  7. Congrats...the Taurus X is a good looking wagon, IMHO..I like the Taurus sedan also, but thought the Five Hundred had a nicer front end design.
  8. Well, the last few summers have seen a price spike then a drop... but each time, it's dropped to a level higher than where the previous drop stopped...definitely more pronounced this year.
  9. Chevy probably couldn't afford to stand it up and get it the door earlier, what with the cost of the launches of the Traverse, Camaro, and Equinox within the next 2 years for NA..
  10. That's just the US marketing slogan...in Europe, it's more of the Korean Revolution brand.
  11. Well, in Europe, Chevrolet is a Korean Revolution...it's line is former Daewoos..
  12. My Ray Ban sunglasses case would fit in there with my cell phone, looks like. I wonder if it's sloped downward inside so said stuff wouldn't fly out.
  13. Speaking of all things poop, I had an adventure last night..was up washing sheets and a comforter at midnight because Diarrhea Dog jumped in my bed. Amazing how much a 10lb dog can poo..
  14. A good friend of mine's wife (tiny 5'0" Japanese-American lady from Hawaii) had a lot of fun stories about almost getting crushed by the doors on her first car, a '76 Grand Prix..... she drove an '88 Coupe De Ville for years, traded it on a Volvo XC70 a few years ago.
  15. I drove a Town Car to my 10th high school reunion back in '98.... they are my favorite rental car. I love the old school style.
  16. If I bought a Prius, I'd feel like a sellout...my friends and coworkers would all applaud my choice, but I'd feel dirty. Therefore, I should by a Town Car..it's kind of the anti-Prius. But my Dad didn't buy his first Lincoln until he was 56, so I'm still a bit young for one..
  17. Here's an article from the WSJ about the $500 million investment in Lordstown. Good news for my home region... GM To Invest $500mil in Lordstown
  18. An '08 Suburban for 50% off sticker?
  19. Saw another HHR panel..this one was bright red, with some large stamp like graphics that said 'Local Delivery'. Cool.
  20. I've always liked the style of J30...had to look it up, forgot it was RWD. It was styled by Jerry Hirschberg, who for some reason, I thought was previously with Pontiac, maybe in the '80s.
  21. I find the Infiniti G37 coupe appealing as it is... I'd like to see Lexus make a coupe version of the IS. Looking forward to seeing the G37 convertible. I'd like to have the GT-R for a weekend on Ohio backroads, it would be a lot of fun, I think..out of my price range, though.
  22. Yes, the profile of the 2dr Cobalt strongly resembles the Cavalier..the 4dr less so. I'd like to see Chevy bring back the chrome bowties with the blue inset.
  23. Yes, these aren't like prototype photos...they look like a production version...
  24. I suspect in a year or so we will see it on CNN---Massachusetts man on rampage vandalizing Chevy dealers throughout New England--breaks into dealers and with a Sawzall or Jaws of Life tool cuts out the B-pillars of the 2010 Camaros in stock, as an act of his 'Hardtop Liberation Front'..
