  1. The red car in the second pic looks like my sister's '91, except hers has the black interior (which is insane for AZ, but it's a Chicago car originally). I saw a very nice 300CE convertible for sale today, red w/ tan interior, for $9900. Those are pretty scarce compared to the coupes (which are pretty scarce compared to the sedans).
  2. Yeah, it's a performance car... I tend to avoid the old timey terms like 'muscle car' and 'pony car'...not really relevant today.
  3. Percentages make it look like a bigger increase than it is...1 mpg is not anything of significance, and in real world driving, I doubt if drivers would notice any difference from the regular ones. They are still just heavy gas-guzzling trucks.
  4. It's not superflous, it's part of a total package. A performance model has to look the part...M buyers don't want their car looking like just another leased 328i..
  5. There is a lot more to 'M' than just the engines... the suspension, etc. M is to BMW what V-series is to Cadillac or AMG is to Mercedes. The best of the best in each model range. Nothing wrong with 19 speakers or 10 way seats either.
  6. There was a RWD Opel Ascona/Vauxhall Cavalier prior to the FWD J-car that came out in '81. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vauxhall_Cavalier
  7. Really looking forward to seeing this one in person.
  8. Woooh... 1 mpg increase. What a joke.
  9. Well, it is a big, heavy car...the fatness is part of it's Americanness.....this is the land of the Big Mac, Lard Lad, supersize everything, childhood obesity, and 6000lb SUVs..so our sports coupes should be over 4000lbs.
  10. Yeah...I don't care for fake metal...all plood would have been nicer. I assume there are trim levels with plood, like the current model. I like the interior design, pretty similar to the current car and the Accord...but the exterior, I'm not sure.
  11. But even if it gets 25 mpg in US gallons, that's pretty good...I know V8s are capable of getting more than 25...my 21 yr old 5.0 Mustang gets over 25 highway...
  12. Good cupholder design is part of why the Japanese gained market share so much in the '80s, I think... one of the things I hate about driving my '87 Mustang or my sister's Mercs is the lack of cupholders. I want lighted, heated, chilled cupholders!! In Arizona, you don't leave the house w/o a bottle of water...and I have to have my coffee on the morning drive.
  13. HUDs are lame.
  14. My coworkers with Priuses laugh when I refer to them as a 'Pious'...
  15. Mmmm..rice. I think I may have a Thai curry w/ rice for dinner. Or chicken fried rice. Or some basmati rice with kebabs.
  16. GM....if they will be building the current Impala 'till 2012, then they will have the supply..
  17. It's been done...there was one on Autoblog a few months ago. Enjoy.. Prius convertible
  18. Sweet...I have to get back there and visit my Mom and brother before winter....and take the 5.0 out on some of my favorite roads in Tuscarawas, Holmes, Carroll, Guernsey counties....RT39, RT800, RT541, etc...
  19. I've seen pics of that Caprice convertible..it was very cool. Also in '66, Ford sold some very cool 4dr ht LTD limosuines, maybe 1/2 dozen were built by Hess & Eisenhardt or another coach builder...I'd love to see one of those in person..
  20. I've been thinking about an '05 and up Mustang GT convertible....I'm looking forward to seeing how the '10 restyle looks, and how the Camaro convertible looks in person. Either of those would be a great 40th birthday gift to myself, to enjoy on the Colorado or Ohio backroads... I deeply miss driving the twisty backroads of Eastern Ohio in my 5.0.
  21. Product liability is a bitch. That's why they crush 'em, to keep the lawyers happy.
  22. Yeah, no matter how much cash you pour into a Civic, it's still a Civic...I've never been into the hop up or hot rod scene...but I know that a lot of 20 somethings in the '90s poured tons of cash into hopping up 5.0 Mustangs... I kept my Mustang GT bone stock, I didn't have the time or inclination to modify it...I was too busy with college and grad school through '97...
  23. The car I saw was a stretched FWD Electra, though, which was what was so unusual about it. I've seen a 6dr RWD early '80s Le Sabre before..
  24. Yeah, reality bites.
  25. Well, the kiddies hop up '92 Civics because that is what is readily available. In the real world, there aren't any '79 Sunbirds..I can't remember how many years it's been since I've seen such an animal. The Civic is to the younger generation what the 5.0 Mustang was to my generation.
