  1. Yeah, one of the best view angles IMHO of the Malibu is the rear 3/4 from the side..I like the C-pillar and quarter panel shape..
  2. Bingo..without rentals, I would never be exposed to GM or Ford cars...
  3. I think the Century/Regal duality was really a continuation of what GM had done in the past within brands..i.e. each brand (or division, as they once were called) used to have a base, medium, and top-of-the line model within each platform, each with a different name, sometimes a different grille, and different trim/content...sometimes 2 (i.e. in the late 70s-early 80s-- Impala/Caprice, Catalina/Bonneville), sometimes 3-4 (like they did in the '60s-'70s- LeMans/Tempest/GTO, Biscayne/Bel Air/Impala/Caprice, F85/Cutlass, etc). Nothing new.

  5. As it said in the post, ELS is a surround sound system. The CSX is the Canadian Acura Civic. I wonder if it will get the new shield grille style like the new TSX and TL.
  6. Americans probably think the same thing about Hondas and Toyotas as far as being made in US..
  7. That is surprising about the Volvos...but my sister has rented them several times from Hertz...being a traveling consultant, she has a different car every week.

  9. Besides the grille, it's what really gives it build identity, IMHO..
  10. 1) Yeah, that is a high percentage... 2 suicide, 1 missing after a car accident, presumed dead (my nemesis), 2 dead from diseases, 2 from car accidents, 1 in the Gulf War... about 1/2 within 5 years of graduation. 2) The lawyer loves LA, she's one of the MILFs--still looks great at 38. A couple of the others in CO I had stayed in touch with since the 10th and have hung out a couple times since then..they live up in the mountains, involved in the ski industry and restuarants. It was funny--one of the women who lives in Colorado we discovered through talking that we had lived for 5 years in the same neighborhood in Colorado Springs in the late '90s and never realized it 3) Yes, D divorced..worked to my advantage.. Had a great time. Another sad story was one of the girls that was quite a hottie in high school looked very thin and rough..she's been fighting a crack addiction for about 10 years apparently, which is sad--she was from a wealthy family in town and went to Harvard, good student. It's fun also to see people's career choices... about 10% are cops, 10% are teachers...one guy that was a total goofball is a DEA agent, a couple career military guys, one guy who worked with his dad in high in drug importing (and did 15 years in a federal pen) now does anti-drug programs in schools, another has a TV fitness show, one guy is an aspiring comic book artist, a couple electrical engineers, a couple realtors,...only myself and one other are in the software biz. The car nut in HS that had a Grand National back then now owns a garage in town. The kid that was into Mopars in high school (had a '72 Road Runner then a '73 Charger then) still is into them..has a '75 Duster w/ a 440 and a '73 Cuda now.. I had changed quite a bit physically since I was 18..about the same height, but 75 lbs heavier (I was a skinny kid), and now w/ a shaved head instead of my '80s 'do..
  11. They haven't shown the interior officially, yet though..or did I miss it..I recall pics of the Provoq concept interior a while back.
  12. I would think being that the Olds 307 was from the '80s and the Chevy one from the late '60s-early '70s, the Olds would be a low-power motor with all the emissions equipment, etc. GM V8s in the '80s tended to be pretty low on power, IIRC. Neither were really performance motors, though. Interesting factoid from Wikipedia--the 1990 5.0 L Olds V8 was the last carbureted passenger car engine on the market in the United States. Wow... carbys still in 1990...that's old school.
  13. There was a crew cab version that was a GMC concept at an auto show earlier this year, IIRC..but it had totally different sheetmetal.
  14. Yes...definitely targeting the MDX/MKX/RX/Q5 crowd.... it's too bad they won't have a V8 model anymore to target the X5/ML/FX/Q7 market.
  15. One would assume, though it's not in the pics.
  16. I love those '61 CDVs with the thin C-pillars..
  17. Hmmm...I've heard to two Maddoxes--a politician named Lester Maddox and Angelina Jolie's son.
  18. You want a laugh, but I have been getting AARP email spam all week. I'm only 38!!!!
  19. Well, the reality sounds like there are going to be at least 5...Equinox, Terrain, Vue on Theta, and SRX and 9-4X on Theta Premium.. remember, this is GM we are talking about... got to keep each dealer body happy, and the brands have to compete w/ each other.. So it sounds like GM will have 4 Lambda CUVs for the full size market, 5 Theta and Theta Premium for the mid size market, but nothing in NA yet for the compact market (unless you could the Vue and HHR, but those are just tall wagons). And then on the SUV side, there are the GMT 900s and the GMT 360s (which I assume are going away in a couple of years and not being replaced).
  20. Ugh...a Chevy engine in a Merc? Sacreledge... a modern AMG V8 would be a cool swap, but obviously would be $$$.
  21. Yes, this is on Theta Premium. The Pontiac Torrent is supposed to be replaced by the GMC Terrain. Buick, AFAIK, isn't getting one yet...though I could see a business case for a smaller sibling for the Enclave..
  22. Yes, and the Safari is an out of production 20+yr old design... it and the Astro had some of the worst crash test results of any GM model, by the way.
  23. Or since this is a GM site, a 10 yr old Cavalier..
  24. So you can put stuff in the hatch area with the cover on and the seat up... good for skis or a golf bag, I think..
  25. The Vivaro or Movano would be nice to see in the US badged as GMCs to compete with the Sprinter.
