Pebble Beach: 2010 Cadillac SRX debuts
They haven't shown the interior officially, yet though..or did I miss it..I recall pics of the Provoq concept interior a while back.

Question about the old days of GM powertrains.
I would think being that the Olds 307 was from the '80s and the Chevy one from the late '60s-early '70s, the Olds would be a low-power motor with all the emissions equipment, etc. GM V8s in the '80s tended to be pretty low on power, IIRC. Neither were really performance motors, though. Interesting factoid from Wikipedia--the 1990 5.0 L Olds V8 was the last carbureted passenger car engine on the market in the United States. Wow... carbys still in 1990...that's old school.

Pontiac Names All New Sport Truck The "G8 ST"
There was a crew cab version that was a GMC concept at an auto show earlier this year, IIRC..but it had totally different sheetmetal.

Yes...definitely targeting the MDX/MKX/RX/Q5 crowd.... it's too bad they won't have a V8 model anymore to target the X5/ML/FX/Q7 market.

Pebble Beach: 2010 Cadillac SRX debuts
Well, the reality sounds like there are going to be at least 5...Equinox, Terrain, Vue on Theta, and SRX and 9-4X on Theta Premium.. remember, this is GM we are talking about... got to keep each dealer body happy, and the brands have to compete w/ each other.. So it sounds like GM will have 4 Lambda CUVs for the full size market, 5 Theta and Theta Premium for the mid size market, but nothing in NA yet for the compact market (unless you could the Vue and HHR, but those are just tall wagons). And then on the SUV side, there are the GMT 900s and the GMT 360s (which I assume are going away in a couple of years and not being replaced).

Ugh...a Chevy engine in a Merc? Sacreledge... a modern AMG V8 would be a cool swap, but obviously would be $$$.

Yes, this is on Theta Premium. The Pontiac Torrent is supposed to be replaced by the GMC Terrain. Buick, AFAIK, isn't getting one yet...though I could see a business case for a smaller sibling for the Enclave..

Was rebuffing Renault-Nissan a mistake?
Yes, and the Safari is an out of production 20+yr old design... it and the Astro had some of the worst crash test results of any GM model, by the way.

New Buick to be called LaCrosse, has been butchered.
Or since this is a GM site, a 10 yr old Cavalier..

So you can put stuff in the hatch area with the cover on and the seat up... good for skis or a golf bag, I think..

The Vivaro or Movano would be nice to see in the US badged as GMCs to compete with the Sprinter.

Nissan planning Murano convertible
Yeah, it is novel...whether it will sell or not is another story. Why not a Caddy SRX convertible? More importantly, though, is a CTS convertible...what with the 3-series convertible, the CLK convertible, G37 and A5 convertibles on the way, Cadillac needs to follow up the CTS coupe with a CTS convertible..

Nissan planning Murano convertible
Yes...but this is a novelty variation...they have the regular Murano for the storage part.

Class Reunion time
I went to my 20th last month in Marathon, Fl... we didn't have a very big turnout for the 10th, so this was really the first time alot of us had seen each other since June 1988. It was a good weekend..some sadness---8 deceased out of a class of 64... a few people that were couples are still together w/ kids 20 years later. A couple people looked almost unchanged, most looked older...some of the jocks were still fit, some had chubbed up, people that a full head of hair back in the day were bald/balding, some of the hotties from '88 aren't so hot now, a few are now definitely MILFs and DMILFs.. one pair of guys are now a gay couple, whom a lot suspected back in the day... some of the biggest stoners from then are now cops and teachers. Probably 40% are still in Florida, I had the 3rd longest trip besides the lawyer from LA and the guy in Hawaii...about 5 live in Colorado now besides me. Only a couple of us (myself included) still have our cars from then (though I didn't drive mine to the reunion, since it's in Ohio and I'm in AZ). Lots of talk of what people did after high school, marriages, kids, careers, moves, etc.. It was a weekend of sitting around the bars/restaurants and at the beach drinking and reminicing about the old days..and the realization that alot of what went on 20 years ago would result in a lot of kids getting arrested if it were to happen today. Looser times then than now, I think. It was sad to see my high school is gone, all the old single story buildings on the campus torn down and replaced w/ modern 3 story hurricane proof buildings...looks like blue prison buildings now, with security doors, tiny windows, etc.

Yeah..sadly, it's FWDness is all too apparent by the short front wheelwell to door distance...totally innapropriate for a Caddy.

WOW...that is slick. I love the rear detailing and how the edges of the hidden rack look like fins.
