  1. It's always up the individual owner, of course, but even on 'performance' cars, I like plood...it adds some warmth visually to the interior. 'Metal' (i.e. aluminum colored plastic) is too cold and mechanical for my tastes... and real metal trim gets hot in the summer, so that's not good. I do like the old style 'turned aluminum' dash trim from the '70s Trans Ams and Bentleys though. One interior trim I strongly dislike is carbon fiber (fake or real)--looks disgusting, IMHO.
  2. Interesting..I wonder if they will get rid of the 4spd automatic and restyle it between now and then...
  3. Actually, 5. '67 Cougar (1 '67, 2 '68s), and '90 Lincoln Town Car (and also a '96, same style).
  4. Interesting looking at the COY award...my folks had 4 COY winners over the years.
  5. We will see...the Lincoln MKS seems to be targeting the RL's market. (largish AWD V6 luxury sedan).
  6. Looks better in darker colors. I like the 2 tone interior, would be better w/ plood, though..
  7. Everytime one of my sister's old Mercs goes to the shop (local Merc specialist German Auto) it's at least $500. They are money pits. It's not Europe...you weren't on the autobahn. The flashing lights trick doesn't work in the states...you are lucky you didn't pass a cop, or your irresponsible arse would have been in jail.
  8. Without the platform, though, what would the replacement use? A revised Sigma?
  9. Nice 944... I had a buddy in high school that had a black '87. He didn't show for the 20th reunion, don't know what he has now. I've always had a soft spot for Porsches...if I bought an older one, it would be a 993 C4....the last of the water cooled ones from the mid '90s. The perfect sports car for Colorado.
  10. BBE-'Deeper Love'... had to throw a little electronica into the mix
  11. Personally, I really can't tell the difference between most any pre-1948 GM product from a given year from one another without seeing the badging. It seems the 48/49ish designs for the A-, B-, and C- bodies was when they started having strong brand identities (with shared rooflines for each body line). Then again, it's not like I ever see these cars in person with any frequency..way before my time.
  12. Across 110th St-Bobby Womack, Use Me-Bill Withers, Take Me to The River-Al Green In a '70s funk/soul mood tonite..
  13. Theme from Shaft-Issac Hayes, Freddie's Dead-Curtis Mayfield, Hercules-Arron Neville
  14. CIA or NSA maybe? I could see a spy or assassin driving a Mini Cooper JCW..
  15. To me, it looks better than the 6 series. I was dissapointed by the 6 series bangled styling. Over the last few years, my interest in German cars has moved from BMW more to Audi....with the A8, A5, R8, etc, I'm really attracted to them more..
  16. The thing is, in Europe, Saab only has 2 models--the 9-3 and the ancient 9-5...how big can they really be there?
  17. It looks great in the spy pics I've seen...same car from the beltline down. I love the A5 styling.
  18. If I could get a Caddy CTS coupe in June 2010 with a turbo diesel, 6spd manual, and AWD, I would be one happy bald 40 yr computer engineer (of course, in Europe, the Audi A5 coupe is available in such a configuration NOW. AUGGGGGGHHHHH). Or maybe a Camaro V8 convertible instead
  19. Phoenix, Arizona currently..house sitting for my sister who is working in Ohio..but this is temporary. I'll probably be back in Denver within the next year (I still own a condo there). I'm also thinking about moving back to the Midwest---Columbus, Ohio or Pittsburgh, PA.
  20. Well, the A4 cabrio is being replaced soon by the A5 cabrio...probably will be AWD only (I think the A5 coupe is).
  21. In Rainbows-Radiohead
  22. Heh-heh... my '87 GT came with a factory AM/FM w/ cassette deck...replaced that with a Sony CD player back in '95. My '69 Mustang has only a factory AM radio...but with that car, listening to the dual exhaust 351 Windsor is plenty enough.
  23. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't the Manta a T-body? I see some Chevette in the windshield shape.. the Manta was like a European Vega GT, IMHO. There was a sharp 2nd gen Manta that had a front kind of like the US Monza 2+2, but it was never sold in the US.
  24. I love road trips...I take plenty of CDs, water, Red Bull, Starbucks doubleshots, and snacks. I took many 1000-1500 mile trips in the '88-99 time frame in my '87 Mustang GT--very comfortable and fast, and since 2000 have taken several around the West in my '00 Grand Cherokee (very comfortable for long hauls) and one unplanned drive from San Jose, CA to Denver in an '04 Impala rental. I really want to do the coast to coast sometime. I suspect my next long haul drive will be in the Jeep when I escape Arizona.
  25. Yeah, I don't care for the fake metal trim...I'd have to have the plood and a two-tone interior (I like the tan and black on the current TL quite a bit).
