2. Reading the article, it sounds like it IS the old one, but with a new front clip that looks like the new C-class...so the old rear quarter treatment remains, updated with new taillights and hatch and fascia shape.. That is odd that M-B would take such a cheapo approach by updating the old model rather than designing a new one on the new platform..

4. I have a coworker that swears his Prius is a sports car.... (ironically, he a pic in his cube of the '71 Challenger he had back in the '80s).
5. My manager drives an '07 TL, which is a car I like...but his previous car was a '02 BMW 540i. Then I found out he bought the TL only because he couldn't find a 'Camry Sport' (is there such a thing?). Now I seriously question his judgement...
6. I wonder if they will offer it in the base Tahoe and Silverado to up their mileage averages...
7. The weekend was nice, sunny and 50s, today is supposed to be sunny and upper 40s. But there is a lot of snow coming down in the high country, which should get here to the Front Range by tomorrow, so it will back to snow and cold..
8. Of course, My Name is Earl is probably the only reference most people under 35 have to El Caminos, since their hasn't been one in over 20 years...
9. Interesting..never heard that one.... by the way, didn't the modern Buick-in-China begin with a government purchase of Regal sedans?
10. I've seen 4 late model A4 Quattro convertibles in the last few days..that is one sweet looking car in black or dark blue...
11. Those GEs seem to go and on...my folks GE fridge made it 38 years before it died...was in excellent shape, appearance-wise.
12. I usually go to Vegas once a year or so, it's a short cheap plane ride from here...I usually can't take it for more than a couple of days, though.. I go for a concert or shows, and dining more than gambling.
13. Yes, and there is a one-page sidebar in the Dodge article with the story of the Super-Light...neat stuff. I don't think I've ever seen a '70 Polara convertible in person..beautiful big land yacht.
14. Sounds like a nice purchase...may it serve you well for many, many miles. Welcome back also...

Wow..

QUOTE(blackviper8891 @ Jan 27 2008, 06:35 PM) Well, the big crash was only two and half years ago. I know Moltar was here when I originally joined in 03. That sounds right..I know I've been around a while...probably 5 years or more.
16. Of course, there still will only be 3 models..

Wow..

I don' t recall when I first joined, but it was before the big crash...
18. Yes, it's an excellent issue... I liked the pics of the evolution of clay design mock ups that led to the '77s. Another good current magazine is the current Hemmings Classic Car, which is an all-GM issue celebrating GM's 100th. I've subscribed to CA for about 15 years now, it's my favorite old car mag.
19. The Smart was engineered from the beginning for modern Western crash tests, though...has the 'safety cage' construction. I doubt if the Nano has such construction.
20. Hmmm... a $40k Volt sounds like a tough sell, unless the strategy is to market it as a status symbol and cheaper alternative to the Tesla..
21. It looks like Viking appliances are made in the US, but those are pretty spendy usually..
22. I wonder if there are any consumer appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc) made in the US or Canada? How about consumer electronics (TVs, stereos, etc)?
23. I'm wondering if that really is an Impala logo, though... it could be a Chevy logo in a swirl, like the Malibu had a couple of generations back... The design of the taillights and decklid of the Caprice is quite similar to the WImpala, though..
24. Hmmm....maybe GMNA informed Holden that the GTO's interior was too nice for Avis and that they wanted cheaper materials for it's replacement.. Maybe Holden imported some bean counters from Detroit that were more familiar with GMNA's traditional cheap gray plastic interiors.. But seriously, I'm going to reserve judgement on the G8 interior until I've actually sat in one...how many people here have even seen one in person yet? People blather on endlessly about things they've only seen in pics... seeing an interior up close and in person can be quite a different experience than just looking at pics. I saw the Fifty Cent G8 concept at Barrett-Jackson, but with the tinted windows I couldn't make out much of the interior details.
