Buying American owned & made does matter
Those GEs seem to go and on...my folks GE fridge made it 38 years before it died...was in excellent shape, appearance-wise.

It's a damn good thing...
I usually go to Vegas once a year or so, it's a short cheap plane ride from here...I usually can't take it for more than a couple of days, though.. I go for a concert or shows, and dining more than gambling.

Collectible Automobile
Yes, and there is a one-page sidebar in the Dodge article with the story of the Super-Light...neat stuff. I don't think I've ever seen a '70 Polara convertible in person..beautiful big land yacht.

Photos: At last, the "baby" has been brought home!
Sounds like a nice purchase...may it serve you well for many, many miles. Welcome back also...

Wow..
QUOTE(blackviper8891 @ Jan 27 2008, 06:35 PM) Well, the big crash was only two and half years ago. I know Moltar was here when I originally joined in 03. That sounds right..I know I've been around a while...probably 5 years or more.

Allure. Enclave. Lucerne.
Of course, there still will only be 3 models..

Wow..
I don' t recall when I first joined, but it was before the big crash...

Collectible Automobile
Yes, it's an excellent issue... I liked the pics of the evolution of clay design mock ups that led to the '77s. Another good current magazine is the current Hemmings Classic Car, which is an all-GM issue celebrating GM's 100th. I've subscribed to CA for about 15 years now, it's my favorite old car mag.

The World's Cheapest Car
The Smart was engineered from the beginning for modern Western crash tests, though...has the 'safety cage' construction. I doubt if the Nano has such construction.

Want a Volt in 2010? Then take $40,000 to your nearest Chevy dealer
Yes.

Want a Volt in 2010? Then take $40,000 to your nearest Chevy dealer
Hmmm... a $40k Volt sounds like a tough sell, unless the strategy is to market it as a status symbol and cheaper alternative to the Tesla..

Buying American owned & made does matter
It looks like Viking appliances are made in the US, but those are pretty spendy usually..

Buying American owned & made does matter
I wonder if there are any consumer appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc) made in the US or Canada? How about consumer electronics (TVs, stereos, etc)?

Middle east Zeta Impala, and lumina
I'm wondering if that really is an Impala logo, though... it could be a Chevy logo in a swirl, like the Malibu had a couple of generations back... The design of the taillights and decklid of the Caprice is quite similar to the WImpala, though..

First G8s arrive!!!
Hmmm....maybe GMNA informed Holden that the GTO's interior was too nice for Avis and that they wanted cheaper materials for it's replacement.. Maybe Holden imported some bean counters from Detroit that were more familiar with GMNA's traditional cheap gray plastic interiors.. But seriously, I'm going to reserve judgement on the G8 interior until I've actually sat in one...how many people here have even seen one in person yet? People blather on endlessly about things they've only seen in pics... seeing an interior up close and in person can be quite a different experience than just looking at pics. I saw the Fifty Cent G8 concept at Barrett-Jackson, but with the tinted windows I couldn't make out much of the interior details.

Thought Provoking
Agreed...I've never owned a gun, never had a reason to...I've always viewed the US gun fixation as a strange rural Republican thing that I will never understand...

Scratching The Itch
4500 seems awfully high given how poor the condition the cars are in...these look more like $500 parts cars to me. I guess the prices on original F-bodies have really gone up over the years..

GM looking at competing with the Nano
The Indians in the US drive primarily drive Camrys and Corollas, at least the H-1B software engineers I know do..

Middle east Zeta Impala, and lumina
Looking at the Chevrolet Arabia website, I see the Zeta Lumina and Caprice and CR8 (CSV model). The Lumina is the Commodore/G8 equivalent. www.chevroletarabia.com

What's left of a 2008 BMW in Florida! (Video)
It was so mangled can't even tell what model..I really only could make out a wheel and a seat from the video footage..

NY 2008 Preview: Production Pontiac ST pickup to appear

What are the "Gay Cars" in your city?
I've heard that in some areas Subaru wagons are a lesbian status thing, but Outbacks are a very mainstream wagon around here (Colorado has long been a prime Audi and Subaru market).... of the only two people that I know who are openly gay--one drives a Caddy SLS and the other a Mitsu Eclipse..(he's got to be a rarity here--a gay Indian software engineer). I also used to work with a 'Lesbyterian' who was a very butch evangelical Xtian lesbian from Colorado Springs who drove a macho Dodge Ram crew cab to fit in down there..(Dodge Rams being a suburban Republican fundie xtian status symbol).

First G8s arrive!!!
How does it compare to the Grand Prix, though? I'm not expecting Cadillac quality in a Pontiac, but as long as it's better than the cheap, nasty plastics of it's predecessor...

It sucks to be sick
I hear ya..I went from 25 in Denver Friday to 65 in Phoenix over the weekend to 2 in Denver Monday...the last two days I've stayed home from work with a nasty cold..massive congestion...(good thing is the mucus is clear, not the evil green stuff). I could barely watch TV yesterday (my eyes were burning), so I'm in bed on Tylenol cold & dayquil...ate nothing Tuesday-- no appetite..had some tea, OJ, and coffee... Felt a bit better today, went for some spicy vindaloo...didn't really clear my sinuses, but cleared out my arse.. The Heath Ledger news freaked me out, 'cause I'm on some of the same types of drugs (Zoloft and Ambien in my case).
