  1. Invalid reasoning. Opel's in 30+ countries...Pontiac's in 3... I think Pontiac has a lot of potential and I'd love to see them revived...but I think GM would terminate the brand in a heartbeat if they thought they couldn't make a sufficient ROI on it.
  2. Saab's sales are small in the US, but they still have a European market presence. Pontiac is only in NA....
  3. And Buick has some international marketshare (China, Middle East) while Pontiac is NA only... it seems the most obvious of GM's brands to cut, unfortunately.. FYI: 2006 (US? NA?) sales #s: Buick: 240k Chevy: 2.4M GMC: 480k Pontiac: 410k
  4. The wierd thing is this company has Airbus as a customer also, and 90% of the world's airlines..
  5. Cool, cool, cool... I'm working these days at a Boeing subsidiary, so I see airplane screensavers on computers in many of the cubes around mine..
  6. When I hit Avis, I'm on a corporate account, so I'm stuck at the low rent end...but when I travel for fun, I hit Hertz for a Grand Marquis, Town Car, or Mustang convertible.
  7. Well, over the previous Malibu...I don't know if the new one has hit Avis yet..
  8. True enough... but, Pontiac does provide a step up from Chevy at the Avis counter..
  9. Well..the G8 is adding plenty in '08.
  10. There's a big price difference between the two, so I'm not sure the point of these apples vs. oranges arguments...the Accord and STS are in two different market segments.
  11. Well, I'm sure he's under an NDA and can't spread rumours about insider knowledge. And he's got his own twisted agenda and probably gets off on messing with our heads.. Anyway, if this is true about the Alpha, it doesn't bode well for Pontiac and I can't see the strategy of having a compact RWD sedan between the Cobalt and Malibu...just seems to be too much for Chevy.
  12. Well, it seems PCS with his tick-tock has some inside info as to Pontiac's future... and with Pontiac part of the Pontiac-Buick-GMC structure, it wouldn't be that hard to phase out..
  13. It would make sense that Chevy get it instead of Saturn (if Pontiac is indeed going the way of Oldsmobile).
  14. Maybe he thinks it's still 1959 and the cold war is still going on... his rants are usually irrational and devoid of reality in general...
  15. The Accord interior in two-tone tan w/ the wood looks quite nice, almost as nice as a TL. FWD family sedans aren't really my genre, but if I went mainstream suburbia the Accord would be fine for me as a daily driver commuter car..
  16. No smilie needed... I've really never heard of doing that... (I've only owned one automatic, never added tranny fluid--the shop takes care of that when I go in for maintenance).
  17. Here's one on ebay that's salvagable...kind of denty..
  18. There has been plenty of snow in the high country this season so far, but very little here in the Denver metro area...one at mid October, one last week...a little accumulation, but it melts off in a day or so...supposed to be a dry, mild winter here, which would be a nice change after the horror of last winter (big storm every week from late Dec to early March).
  19. Cool..I haven't seen one of those in years...the Le Sabre and Electras of that era were probably the nicest looking late '80s FWD GMs IMHO...I esp. liked the 2dr roofline. Too bad they had those stupid door-mounted seat belts.
  20. In some areas, maybe...SUVs of all shapes and sizes are very common as daily drivers around here..they are a staple of suburbia in the Denver metro area.
  21. The gas guzzler taxes should be applied also to all the obese full size trucks and SUVs that struggle to get 15 mpg..
  22. HOLDEN LIVES Cool... I had typed in PCS's phrase...looks like one of the admins has tweaked the site to filter out PCS's stupid buzzphrase..
  23. It is a production vehicle...will be available for 3 yr leases in So Cal in '08..
  24. Interesting...never heard of filling the trans via the dipstick.
  25. That's even better...
