Haha! Really? Maybe I can pick up Henry Ford's old place. For all of his other baggage with minorities, one of the things Henry Ford understood was that his employees were also his customer. How do U.S. corporations expect to thrive if they outsource everything but the board of directors and some secretaries? If there are only boards of directors, a few service people, and all the factories are over seas, who is left to buy the products? 17% unemployed/underemployed. In a "consumer economy", how do you expect the economy to work when 17% can't ..well... consume? We like to make fun of Ross Perot, but he had a point about that "Giant Sucking Sound" during the NAFTA debates.

You just disconnected from the topic. The topic is that real wages for average Americans (not those in the top 1%) have stagnated or declined in the past 30 years. This has nothing to do with cell phones or internet. So... congrats, you now have more you can buy but less money to buy it with. For all of that... there's Mastercard.... so you can transfer even more of your diminishing wealth to the investor class.

If you include all American's in that average... sure we're much richer. Remove the top 400 wealthiest who's wealth has increase 1700% since 1970... and no, we're all actually poorer.

Yes. 10% official unemployement, closer to 17% actual unemployment/underemployment. 1 job for every 6 job seekers. Where did all the jobs go?

And the point of this study is.....? The whole drama surrounding this issue is not that you could possibly crash. The drama is because Toyota has known about the issue for a long time and opted to cover it up and ignore it rather than doing anything about it. If it were a bad batch of pedals made back in 2004 that Toyota subsequently redesigned to fix the issue, it would be forgivable.

uh... not really. The bores in the 3.5 and 3.9 are offset slightly.... about the only thing they share is the 60 degree cylinder bank

3.1 is easier to maintain but slooooooowwww... the 3.4 would keep up with V8 mustangs of it's day.

Cutlass Supreme convertible. All the space of a W-body coupe with the top up, and still a usable trunk with the top down. Get the 3.4DOHC, bring a phillips head screwdriver to check the timing belt (just have to remove one screw), the phone number to the local alternator repair shop, and you're all set.

I don't know if this is still the case, but Subaru actually has two AWD systems. One for manual transmission cars and one for automatics. The one that goes with the manual transmission is the one you're referring to. Caveat, my information is old, so I don't know if this is still the case. GM's Versatrak was apparently very good with the ability to send most of the torque to the rear wheels if needed. There is a demo on youtube of an AWD Aztek pulling an AWD CR-V kicking and screaming backwards across the ice. Anything with the latest generation Haldex system can probably do the same as it can direct the torque to any wheel it wants to.

LOL Picking and choosing again? The 6.2 liter LS9 is offered in the Corvette with 638hp. That GM tunes it down for the CTS-V says nothing about the capabilities of the engine. Dwightlooi has already addressed the issues of displacement tax (an idiotic tax) and that the latest GM pushrods lack nothing in the quickness to rev department. We're not talking about your grandfathers Olds 307 here. This are highly advanced engines.

A CTS-V can do a lot of things those other cars can't. Where's the benefit to switching it to DOHC?

So are the GM trucks if you scrape the badges off. Ford has gotten to claim "Best Selling Truck" for as long as it has only because GM spreads it's full size trucks over two name plates. I'm sure there are some years in the past 30 where the Chevy+GMC outsold the F-150.

Anywhere you can put a DOHC V8 you can put a Pushrod V8 anywhere from 1 - 2 liter's greater displacement. Ford's OHC <not DOHC, decent size difference there> has been the laggard of the bunch for years.
