Ford is preparing to launch a pair of mid-size crossover electric vehicles according to sources. One Ford and one Lincoln are code named CDX746 and CDX747 are similar in size to the Ford Edge and Lincoln Nautilus and both will be 2023 models. The vehicles were originally destined for Ford's plant in Cuautitlan, Mexico but have been moved to Flatrock Assembly in Michigan just south of Detroit. Flatrock Assembly is where the Ford Mustang and Lincoln Continental are currently built. These two EVs are slated for about 65,000 units annually and because of the move to Flatrock, essentially spell the end for the slow selling Lincoln Continental.... at least in the US. It is possible that Lincoln could continue building the Continental in China and import it to the U.S., however tariff concerns which killed the Ford Focus Active from being imported from China could also filter over onto the Continental. Audi News: Audi Offering Seven Day Rental with New Purchases

I'm sure. It's all just an accounting entry... but there's no better way to get the discount. Silvercar probably gets them at cost. -
Audi News: Audi Offering Seven Day Rental with New Purchases
Drew Dowdell replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Audi
Silvercar is 100% owned by Audi. So they give themselves a discount. Some of the other rental car brands were started by manufacturers and then later sold off. I'm sure @balthazar could tell us. -
The Polestar brand, a sub-brand of Volvo, is launching in the U.S. this fall. The first vehicle, the Polestar 1 is a 600 horsepower plug-in hybrid coupe, and if you have not already signed up for one, you are too late, the US allotment is already sold. The bigger player for Polestar is the Polestar 2 (pictured above), a 5 door fastback electric vehicle with 408 horsepower and 275 mile range. The Polestar 2 is based on Volvo's CMA platform that is used under the the Volvo XC40 crossover. It will be built in China at the beginning of 2020 and arriving in dealerships in Q2. Polestar 2 is the vehicle expected to define the brand going forward. Later, for 2022, the Polestar 3 will arrive using the next generation of the SPA platform that is used under all Volvo's except the XC40. It will be a crossover coupe, but no word yet on the choice of power. Polestar hopes to be selling more than 100,000 units a year globally in 5 to 7 years. View full article

Most Luxury dealerships offer a loaner car when a customer brings their vehicle in for service. But Audi is offering something different for new owners of 2019 or newer Audi vehicles. Audi owns the rental car company Silvercar, a firm that exclusively offers silver Audis as their rental fleet. The new program called "Always Audi" allows purchasers of a new Audi seven days rental at no additional cost. Customers can choose from the Audi A4, A5 Cabriolet, Q5, or Q7 from one of their 20 locations around the US. All Audis at Silvercar come with GPS, Wifi, and SiriusXM at no additional cost. Of course, there are a few catches. The rental days must be used within the first 3 years of ownership, and drivers are still responsible for fuel, airport fees, taxes, tolls, optional insurance, and other options. Now Audi owners can take "their" Audi along on vacation with them. View full article

DRIVEN: 2020 Subaru Ascent Premium (AWD 2.4 turbo)
Drew Dowdell replied to regfootball's topic in Reader Reviews
For Buick specifically, there is room between Envision and Enclave. The Envision is tight inside, feels smaller than the Equinox and Terrain by a good bit. The Enclave is, of course, cavernous. That said, I think the contraction will mostly hit cars rather than SUVs. Expect to see the Regal canceled. In the event of a recession, Buick could be in the right spot for people who can't justify the cost of an Audi lease anymore. Buick is going to end up the brand of an SUV for every purse or pocket. 2 Encores (small and smaller), Envision, Envoy??, Enclave, and somewhere in there Enspire. What GM is doing with these SUVs is smart from a business perspective. If they make the Envoy the same shell as the XT6 but with Buick exterior panels and interior, they'll save a ton on development costs and still be able to market a lower price -

They're playing with wheelbases and overhangs. Just like the XT6 is on the Acadia wheelbase but with a longer rear overhang, they could do a Buick one the same way. Heck, they could even build one the same length as the blazer and add that to the lineup too. -

And yet, it is coming. There is supposed to be a vehicle in the works between the Envision and Enclave. -
Faster and smoother engine than an Arteon, not as nice of an interior. Slower than a Stinger GT, about equal on the interior. Still, a decent handler, but a total sleeper.

Infiniti News: Infiniti Teases New Crossover Coupe

I really don't know where Infiniti is trying to go right now. They've already killed the QX30. The QX50 is flopping hard.- 12 replies

I think diesel trucks have quit a few hurrahs left in them before electrics take over. I like to see this kind of competition between the big three anyway.
