  1. Threw the battery charger on my Toronado today and took it out for a drive for the first time since November.
  2. It was only a partial year for the Escalade. There were a few scattered on dealer lots in April, but they took till mid summer to get into full swing. They still can't build them fast enough to satisfy demand. ATP on Escalade is up nearly $20k over the previous model. Escalade sold 30,500 in 8 months when it took Benz 12 months to sell 26k. Yes.. for vehicles with $80k - $90k transaction prices... that's a blowout.
  3. #2) Some sort of lawsuit between Mercury and Comet coach builders over the name Comet.
  4. Funny how mercedes requires no "protection" from taxi sales, but Cadillac "needs" such from black car sales. Ignorance again. Mercedes doesn't have the fleet sales here, Yes they do actually. Aside from the obvious Sprinter sales, E-Classes and S-classes are making up an ever growing percentage of Black Car sales.
  5. Under 3800 lbs would be a remarkable feat, the 100% aluminum Jaguar XJ is 3,854 for a RWD V6. I like the XJ, but even though it is lighter and cheaper than the German rivals it still doesn't sell. It will take more than lightweight construction, the interior better be fabulous and I still think there has to be a V8. But then also what happens to the CT6's weight when you put on V8, AWD, heated/cooled/massage/reclining seats at all 4 corners, a refrigerator in the trunk, etc? It is going to be heavy too. The Escalade is 300 lbs heavier than a GL550, 500 lbs heavier than a GL450, and it doesn't seem to matter, the Escalade sells just fine. I'm going by various statements that Reuss and others have made. He was very specific in the size and weight of the car relative to the CTS, so that is where I'm coming up with the numbers. He does say that the CT6 will be lighter than the CTS by about 54 lbs. Assuming the same engines and powertrains, we can extrapolate the weight of the CT6.
  6. So here's what I've dug up. Expect the CT6 to be 203 inches long +/- 0.5 inches Expect the CT6 to weigh 3781 lbs in 3.6 RWD form and 3931 in 3.6 AWD form Which means that it will be larger than the CLS and 6-series Grand Coupe by about 5 inches, yet it will be up to 300lbs lighter than either while having more horsepower. It is shorter than the S-Class by 3 inches and lighter than by nearly 800lbs. (RWD v RWD) It will be about the same length as the normal wheel base A8 and about 300lbs lighter (AWD v. AWD) It will be about 3 inches longer than the 740i and about 600+ lbs lighter
  7. Watch what you say about the Chrysler 2.2 'round these parts. I learned this lesson the hard way... Blake is just messing with you..... he is still tender from all the bee stings he got when he whacked a hornet's nest of Chrysler 2.2L engine lovers by calling it a flop* *Linked to improve that pages search engine results..... you're welcome Blake.
  8. Did you READ the article? If so, did you understand it? There will be a Cruze diesel, worry not - the diesel will be offered in all-new Cruze! All it means is that they are restricting sales of the diesel to the redesigned Cruze. It makes sense: the vast majority of diesel sales are to private buyers, not fleets. The Cruze Limited will be aimed at fleets. I hope so, but they may need to do a different engine.
  9. I like the Subaru boxers... they tend to have better low end torque than competing engines of similar displacement.
  10. Isn't Jeep just one big crossover offensive? I find the idea of a tiny Fiat crossover offensive...
  11. Dude in the sunfire just thinks he's bad ass
  12. The 6.2 s/c isn't ever intended to be a quite nor subtle engine.. even the exhaust note at idle is designed to sound intimidating. The 3.6TT is only in cars that wear the V-Sport badge. The Uprated 3.6TT is on a V-series. In all cases, they are cars for people with a pulse. If hushed is what you're looking for, get back into your LS600H sensory deprivation chamber and turn on the Lawrence Welk. Whatever you do, stop criticizing things that don't do what they weren't designed to do. You're becoming a troll around here again and I'm about to start busting out the warning points again.
  13. Did I miss where the all of the CT6 details have been released?
  14. Again, lets keep in mind that 35 dB should be considered "ignition off". So 36 dB is the absolute lowest limit for any gasoline engine at idle unless you bring in technology like active noise cancellation. Anything between 37 and 38 is class leading. If Cadillac's claim is true, then they will have the quietest engine on the market.
  15. Why on earth would you benchmark the loudest engine in the entry-moderate level luxury segment for your high end luxury car? And an engine that came out in 2008 and hasn't changed since. Shouldn't they benchmark a Lexus LS460 or something for refinement? The LS460 is a V8. Apples/Oranges. There is a difference between engine loudness and engine loudness that you can hear from inside the car. From auto-decibel-db.com - rating at idle 2009 Infiniti G37 3.7 - 38.5 2012 Infiniti JX 3.5 - 41.0 2012 Infiniti M37 - 42.9 Lexus 3.5 - 40.9 2013 Cadillac 3.6 - 42.4 Buick 3.6 - 41.4 Audi 3.0 - 42.9 Mercedes E350 - 38.2 Jaguar 3.0 V6 - 44.4 Acura RLX 3.5 - 39.5 BMW 535i - 42.8 If Cadillac did as they claim and shaved 4dB off of the Infiniti number, that would make them extremely class-leading no matter which Infiniti model they started from. At worst, it would put the new 3.6 in the 37 dB - 38 dB range. At best, it would be in the 34 dB range (which I doubt they'd hit) But that is how you get ahead, you benchmark your $60,000 car to be better than Lexus's $80,000 car, not Infiniti's $40,000 car. Funny how the Mercedes 3.5 liter is the quietest on that list when it is the oldest engine in the M-B lineup and being phased out next year. There is little point benchmarking a V8 against a V6 and vice versa. But since you insist... Lexus GX460 - 42.3 (I can't find a non-hybrid LS entry) Lexus LS600h L - 41.2 In any case, there is so little difference between all of these. For reference, 35db is virtually library silent.
  16. The 3.0TT isn't the range topper. It's just the most powerful engine released at the moment. The 3.6TT is almost a certainty and the 6.2 S/C is a possibility.
