  1. Struggling to survive?
  2. On the 96 Taurus, the non-DOHC engines are slow, but as reliable as any 3800. The DOHC engines are fairly trouble free, but not to the extent of the pushrod. Sniff the transmission fluid. If purchased, take for an immediate transmission fluid flush and filter change just to be safe. There is a reason Ford paid GM to develop the fwd 6-speed for them later.
  3. Its that time again I was trying to find a clip from the movie Clue... It's towards the end of the movie when they are running around following Wadsworth as he explains how it was done.... Wadsworth and the cast are in the kitchen. Wadsworth yells "and one of us sneaks back down the secret passage to the study!" Mrs. Peacock lets out an annoyed "Again?..." Wadsworth "Of course!"
  4. The XTS can be very athletic.... in fact, it probably rides a lot firmer than the E-Class. The SRX regularly beats the GLK and X3 which are in the same size and price class in sales. The 3 Series outsells the ATS really 3:1. As explained to death, look at the available number of 3 series variations. The Coupe alone is 35% of BMW 3series (well 4series) sales last I checked. That's not counting the convertible. Look at that number and it is clear why the ATS is the "1" to the 3series "3". Second.. how is the XTS a soft rider versus other cars in the segment of it's size. The 740i is not exactly a blvd cutter.. nor is the LS460 I don't see the XTS as a 7-series competitor, it's more of an option for 5-series/E-Class price-class buyers that want a bit more room.
  5. Possibly, but the extra power in the Regal or Impala would still make two stellar cars even more magnificent. After driving the '14 Regal GS recently, ballz out... that car handles with anything I can think of at Audi save the R8. More power, especially another 100, and U would have a car that easily runs down S4s One of the nice things about the Regal is its superb balance. I think putting the V6 up front would ruin that. We already know that the 2.0T can pump out 360hp... so why not let it?
  6. I think the limitation for the TT3.6 in the Epsilon cars is one of transmission limitations and exhaust routing.
  7. Why? We have Zero-cylinder cars that are luxury cars and that start at that same price.
  8. Happy Birthday 98!
  9. Sweet rides! You should add them to the Cheers and Gears Garage
  10. No no... you and the media move the goal posts. Cadillac meets the supposed gold standard on handling and suddenly handling doesn't matter anymore, back seat room does. BMW of today doesn't even handle like the old 3er... so BMW actually retreated from the goal posts..... unless, and I suspect this is really the issue here... the goal post is just the badge and any old crummy car with the BMW badge on it is automatically better than a Cadillac to you. Thus, even if GM simply rebadged a 3-series with a crest, it still wouldn't be good enough for you because you're so American loathing.
  11. The guy gets off on spark plugs and you guys are suggesting diesels? Or is that the point?
  12. Smk is right about one thing. The entire industry needs to watch the new C-Class. For similar money, I would buy the C-Class over the ATS even though I like the ATS. However, I'm expecting a decent price premium on the C-Class to push it up away from the CLA.
  13. Most of the 3ers sold are 328s which get to 60 in the same 5.7 seconds it takes the ATS 2.0t. Clearly acceleration isn't the main sticking point and you're just trying to move the goal posts again.
  14. For the last few years the complaint about the 3 series is how it got too big, too heavy, and lost it's soul. Along comes a Cadillac in more compact dimensions, lightest in its class, and with all the moves and more that the old lamented 3er had and suddenly the priority is back seat room?!?
  15. Problem one was listening to anything Akerson said.
  16. Both had very early models of Tesla... and Telsa was clearly up to something with the Edmunds car. Edmunds would complain of an unusual noise and Tesla would swap out the entire drive system?! I also discount about half of Edmunds complaints, because until they can find a car company that doesn't issue TSBs, that argument holds no water. At least Tesla tells you when they are doing a TSB instead of Toyota who hides it in a coupon for a free oil-change.
  17. The Volt has a 92%-93% customer satisfaction rate... What does that mean? The survey asks the question "If you had to do it all over again, would you still buy this car?"..... That is among the best in the industry.... Not best in segment... or best for GM.... but best over all brands and models.... The Mercedes Benz S-Class only gets an 80% rating. In fact, the Volt's satisfaction survey is lower than only 2 cars. The Tesla Model-S and the Porsche Boxter. Volt buyers really like their Volts.
  18. My sole objection to these is the column mount shift. If the transmission is already electronically controlled, make push button or rotary dial for the Cadillac.
  19. S/M/L/XL in SUVs S/M/L/XL in Sedans S/M/M in Coupes/Convertibles... makes sense to me. I would go as far as to add a L coupe, based on the LTS, that looks like the El Miraj
  20. I think Fleetwood still holds enough panache for the top of the line Cadillac. I wish GM had snagged the name Pullman before Mercedes did. It's like the top Lincoln (if one existed) should be called the Continental.
  21. Running on a "Family Values" platform most likely
  22. I disagree. The Volt is marketed to people who will only have one or two vehicles, thus range anxiety comes into play whether it is a true worry or not. I like the E-Rev design and fully expect that they will keep it for this update.
  23. Bentley Continental, Flying Spur, Mulsanne Rolls Royce Phantom, Ghost, Wraith Aston Martin Vanquish, Rapide Porsche Boxter, Cayman, Panamera, Macan, Cayenne Maserati Ghibli, Quattroporte, Granturismo Land Rover Range Rover, Evoque, Discovery, Defender Toyota Crown, Harrier (RX in the US) Nissan Skyline, Fuga, Cima, Skyline Crossover (all sold as Infinity in the US) Lamborghini Huracán, Aventador, Murciélago Ferrari Spider, Italia, Berlinetta, LaFerrari Bugatti Veyron It's not always about following the Germans in lock step.... I'd argue that Cadillac would be keeping better company by naming their cars.
