As Ravenfreak13 suggested, the Astra would be a good option, namely the 5-door model. Unless you're really looking for a wagon or MPV... too bad the Zafira hasn't made it to the US...

Olá Deds! What pulls Americans away form diesels is essentially prejudice (they see diesels as noisy fuming engines with little power) and to some extent price (diesel isn't subsidized by the government as it is in Europe, indirectly through less fuel taxes).

I'm not so sure it will be called the 2-series. The sportier model will not be called M1, because that name is still associated with the mid-engine M1 in people's minds.
