Hmmm ...
While looking for another car to daydream about, I came across this in Ohio: http://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/857175496.html I wonder if a particularly hairy man will be knocking on that guy's doorstep soon?

I'd say the owners were trying to make this into a 1970 SS clone. Still haven't seen more photos yet, either. Hmmm ...

Front Drive Mafia of C&G - Official Thread
The Cutlass is a hybrid: it burns both gas and rubber.

442 Road Test
Yeah, I've read the plaque wrong. Instead of reading "53 53" which would denote Saturn Gold Metallic without a vinyl top, it reads "57 57" which actually denotes Baroque Gold Metallic without a vinyl top. (Hey, the numbers are sort of worn off and I was trying to first read them at 11 pm at night, so ...) However the gold color that is on the inner fenders where the black top coat of paint is chipping away and beneath the a-pillar interior trim appears to be much more closer to Saturn Gold than Baroque Gold. Perhaps Baroque Gold looks lighter in person than it does in the color chip?

Hmmm ...
So, here's the e-mail I just received. I'm still waiting for some more photos: I have something I could sell to at least get something of a down payment/deposit on a loan. Anyone think that $4500 would be too low of an offer for this car (not that I am dead serious on buying it right now)?

Escalade Lambda Confirmed Again
Woo-hoo! More front-wheel drive junk for Cadillac! I can hardly keep my excitement contained. Is it possible to get a Cadillac Delta II on the showroom floor too since, you know, the 1980s Cimmalier was such a good idea? Yet another reason for me to care more about the GM of Yesteryear and less about the GM of Today.

Hmmm ...
Cort, I should mention to you that I drove by the lot in Richmond today to see if that Monte Carlo was still there. I didn't see it anywhere around, but I think they might have temporarily relocated it as the lot seemed to have just repaved their blacktop. I'll keep you posted.

How I would structure GM (Massive Read)
One thing I would like to see from GM: more innovation. I didn't know this until I began doing some research for my Cutlass, but apparently, GM had an AutoStick-type transmission before Chrysler Corp. started building them. It was called a "his-and-her dual gate shifter" and it was optional in at least the 1972 A-Body Cutlass, if not all of the other A-Body cars, I am positive of that. http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2..._serialNumber=2 Why did features like this vanish in the late 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s? It wasn't until the half-assed system the last-generation Malibu had (thumb rocker switch on the shifter) that they were starting to build cars with such features again, and after Chrysler had prided itself on "pioneering" this technology with AutoStick in the 1990s. GM was clearly ahead of the curve here and should have stuck with making this technology, and technology like this, at least optional in most of, if not all of, it's models.

Hmmm ...
Just some daydreaming born out of some Sonoma-related frustrations. http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/860186545.html This car is also located about 20 miles south of where the Cutlass originated from (Jellico, Tennessee), and somewhere around the town from where the Cutlass was originally purchased (LaFollette, Tennessee). I wonder what other gems I can find in Tennessee?

New Buick Regal in China
My money is on "no" here. The Regal = the Insignia, just with different trim and badging. The interior will most likely be the same, as will it's driving dynamics.

If GM decides to kill/emasculate Pontiac...
Exactly. Sometimes I wonder if there is any cause in supporting GM any more. The more I've been hearing from them lately, if it's an official statement from the PR department to the usual rumor to what's being done but not being said, the more and more I've realized that there's not much of anything for me to like. For example, the Volt is a great idea, a great product, and is most certainly better in many categories than most vehicles it intends to compete with, but, at it's root, it's just as much of a PR tool to GM as the Prius is to Toyota (however, I can't fault GM for fighting just as dirty with Toyota as Toyota has fought with GM in the past). But I know that I would never spend the money to pay for it's sticker price in order to buy one. The only one GM product that I would ever consider for a new car purchase would be the F5 Camaro. However, there are details that horribly irk me about the base LS model that I would be buying; like the base steel wheels, for example, when the base model Mustangs and Challengers come with at least some form of alloy five-spoke wheels that are much better and don't blatantly say "cheap, cheap, cheap." The weight bothers me as well, but I can live with it. The G8 is an honorable mention. However, I do not want nor do I need a sedan. If GM actually built the Coupe60 and made a version of it as a G8 for The States, with a manual transmission as an option, I would then seriously consider the G8. The Solstice and Sky are nice as well, but I already own a strictly two-person vehicle: it's called a regular cab truck and the lack of extra people room can sometimes be a real pain in the ass, so that's out.

If GM decides to kill/emasculate Pontiac...
You know, the more and more I read about how GM will be doing less and less of what they should actually be doing, the more I realize that I actually am getting dangerously close to not having an automaker with whom I would really like to buy my first new car from and would like to continue doing business with. The closest automaker is BMW and, let's get real, how in the hell am I going to afford one of those right now?
