Yeah... sound familiar? - Deville - Seville - Eldorado - Grand Prix - Bonneville - Grand Am - Regal - Park Ave ...need I go on?

That should result in an automatic loss of license for AT LEAST a year. My car is messy at times but this is just beyond mess... the interior is a damn dumpster. I do not find it surprising at all she crahed her car as a result of a jammed gas pedal... but how about the lack or rear visibility with all that garbage in the way?

Next time we're AT THIS JUNKYARD I'll look around for ya, off the top of my head I do not recall seeing any '70s Caminos but then again I pay more attention to the Pre-War & '50s stuff.

inapired by NOS's recent post my driveway in the near future.

Yeah.... well it's FORD. You get what you pay for. Still 80mph + bad pothole is ALWAYS a bad combo! -
Holy cow!!! That's how bad the motors looked! Jesus C#rist that's ATROCIOUS. No excuse, what so ever. I've seem motors that went 18 thousand miles without an oil change that looked clean compared to that. even I was a bit curious to see if lack of oil changes was making a bad problem much worse but this is just ridiculous.

That Peugeot is SOOOO gross... even the Mitshubishi Galant seems pretty by comparisson.

Our "World of Wheels" show (New England) is in Boston at the "Bayside Expo" usually the middle of Januaray. I've gone a half dozen times or so but it seems that 75% of the stuff is the same cars & same people, year after year.

PT Cruisers? Uplanders? Florida really is a weird state.

Of course they are you clown, but they're from an era when the public and some stupid fedeal regualtion comitee decided that SOFT, crumple-prone design (in frame or BODY) will be the solution tom all man's problems. YOU CAN NOT DESIGN A CAR TO BE THE SAFEST IN ALL CATEGORIES OF CRASHES, ALL THE TIME, IN ANY AND EVERY SCENARIO AT ANY AND EVERY SPEED! Obviously these vehicles suck, but to blame BOF for their poor design would be like me saying Unibody suck and using this as evidence: (this generation of '84 Mopar Minivans was not redesigned untill the mid 90s) yes, that's right Bitches... that's a VOLVO! :AH-HA_wink: seems like a pretty realistic translation of an OFFSET car crash in the real world... It's a 2dr Cavalier for those who can not tell. (1995-1999) And if you are going to pick on BOF, as usual FORD is the lowest common denominator: Notice that these modern, super-safe cars (new C-class Benz) have waht are essentially HUGE boxed frames upfront, albeit fused to the rest of the body & structure... much closer to the idea of BOF verssu the traditional unibody box with a few hard-points for suspension etc...

Here's waht it comes down to: Every few years, in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and now the 2000s we hear how everything OLD is junk and everything new is PERFECT. it's a consumerist mentality... junk your old crap buy new crap. Ther truth is that vehicles have NOT been getting consistantly and progressively safer & better, if you honestly think a 1970 vega is safer than a 1957 Bel Air in most circumstances than you are just blind, same goes for a lot of other cars, how about a 1960 Ford versus a 1970 Pinto... let's not even GO there, right? If the car indusctry really was revolutionizing & reinventing automotive safety every year and things were getting BETTER consistantly at the rate they claim there would be almost no chance of getting killed in a car slamming inot a brick wall at 90mph if you had your seatbelt on, which we all know is NOT the case. I mean seriously ever heard of the annoalogy of a grain of rice on a checkerboard? it's like that, if you increase something EXPENENTIALLY every few years pretty soon you're looking at some earth-shattering improvement. 90% of this crap in marketing 101 and Federal Regulation B.S. These cars are designed for THIS particular crash test... in the real world I'm sure that there are scenarios where a 1997 Astro will do much better than a 2008 Enclave. It's all about compromise, either you want HARD or SOFT, you can't have both!

WMJ: is that photo from the deck of the USS Intrepid in NY NY?

I beleive the proble wiht the above mentioned GMs is the same as many other cars from the era: TOO MUCH crumple zone. It's funny how certain members of this site say 1960s, 1970s and 1980s GM BOF cars are very unsafe because they are SO very rigid and do not compress and crumple in a bad accident, but then again the later BOF stuff that is soft and dumbed down crumples up way too easily, can't have both. Pick one and go with it, if you beleive in something stick to it. Understandably the photos presented show cars (trucks) or sub-par safety design, I'm just saying, perhaps a lot of that had to do with all you unibody loving clowns saying the big BOG stuff was way too rigid and lacked soft crunple zones. IN the end I'll just drive around in my 4-dr hardtop, BOF, air-bag free 1964 Olds and try to not run red lights and merge without looking. Not driving like an @$$hole is still the No. 1 best way to not get killed in a motor vehicle. If you do your best and you're still killed, pehaps it was your time, at least you LIVED, unlike the people who drive Camrys.

The name Catalina is pure SEX for me... so much better than Gee-Eight.

Dear God, what is wrong with this person? Now in 2007 even '57 Chevys & 4th gen. Camaros are suceptible to RICE!? -
Here's how I see it... I can understand completely what Balthy & O.B. are saying. NO question about it, this is a very "safe" design that does no break much new ground for Pontiac, dare I say ANY. In a perfect world the G8 would look a much more bold and unique, more retro & quite frankly less like a Japanese car. Also it would wear an emblem off of one of the legendary Pontiac cars that have become household names. Bonneville, Grand Prix... even Catalina. BUT, that having been said, this car has some very clean lines. It may not be the most exciting design out there but there's also nothing UGLY or BLAND about it. A horrible lack of style/balance/continuityevident is not evident as it is with 99% of Toyotas, Hondas, Mitshubishis & Fords these days. Plus this thing has SO much going for it that I can overlook styling imperfection without batting an eyelash. I mean seriously, anyone care to remember the last time that Pontiac had a mianstream sedan w/ RWD, a kick-a$$ pushrod V8, IRS, manual transmision and a world class chassis? This is a MAJOR step in the right direction, and yes with the innevidable refresh or worst case scenario with the full redesign we will see a car with the persona & unique character of a 1973 Trans Am SD455 or a 1969 GTO Judge. I love all the sketches & concept drawings in the past few pages of this thread.

Awwww-some! That's looking pretty sweet for a parts car. I've had a great experience every time I've met a C&G member in the flesh. Even thought I did not end up dragging home that turquise 1959 LeSabre flat-top 3-speed-on-the-tree back in 2005 I met several members and had a blast visiting NJ & PA. Now let's hear the low-down on this roadtrip!

I forgot to mention this until O.B. did... "Alternative Tabacco" makes me so damn horny I'd be willing to dry hump a Jessica Simpson poster. The best sex I've ever had was the few times when Marcia & I both smoked. And then, once you're done you sleep better than you ever have in your life.

If you don't mind me asking, why is the Holden Camino Ute a GUILTY pleasure?

I was wondering if I was going to see 24" x 40" posters of GTOs and Chargers then maybe Camen Electra washing a Corvette on a hot day with the help of Halle Berry and Drew Barrymore... all wearing light colored wet, soapy bikinis and maybe there's a industrial fan near by to make their hair whispy & sexy. That Heather Thomas isn't bad for a chick, I'd like to take a clolser look at her "garment construction", maybe an upclose inspection while she's wearing it. I think everyone misses PlumCrazy, his artwork was amazing.
