GM1 mentioned in a recent PM that his Oldsmobile would make a nice addition to the TH!GHT WH1P$ Car Club that me and XP founded... I couldn't agree more. If you're still wondering, the answer is yes. This is supposed to be very tongue-in-cheek. Just trying to poke fun at all those kids with undiscernable Gothic Caps text on the windshield header of their 92 Civic or 94 Corolla.

Oh boy, I'm not sure if I will perticipate in this thread wiht a pic. I looked even goofier as a kid than I do now...

Sure, even us amateurs can poke holes in shi theory and patent but this just goes to sh ow what I've been saying pretty muhc since I became a teenager.... Phazing out Internal Combustion for more comlpex (i.e. Hybrid) concepts is NOT the way to go. There's probably a lot of life left in I.C. if it is allowed to evolve and adapt. Very cool read.

AH-HA/Joe: I've been postig a lot less than usual myself recently but I hope my discontent for the Cadillac BLS in that one thread and the resultig bickering is not the cause of this.... I hope you at least stop in and say Hi on occasion. In the tradition of St.Patricks day may the Wind be always at your back and sun shine upon your face... or whatever that saying is. :AH-HA_wink:

You guys have a good list going (thank you for the mention 76) I'll add Balthazar, MightyMouse, WildManJoe, GM1, HarleyEarl & Black&BlueLandscaper to the list.... But I'm sure I've forgoten a few. And of course Variance gets extra props for helping me not overlook one of the coolest post-B-body RWD Roadmonsters on the market today, even if it is Japanese. I love our new Q.

Bald tires? Just get a FWD ATV. That's the solution to all of life's traction-less challenges. Okay I'm kidding. Obviously. I need to get an ATV, but even more so I want that 1973 Wankel powered Snowmobile in the wand ad. THAT will help me pass the winter blues.

The 4th gen. SS would have never happened without Street egal Performance. What a fantastic day it was when I opened up a magazine in the mid 90s (beck in HS) and saw that beast wearinf SS logos.

Of course I was referring more to Acura/Honda/Infiniti who also use alphanumerice names.... Actaully I'm not basing that on 60-minutes AT ALL. More like everyone I've ever known or talked to at carshows, and the fact that about 1/5 Audis, from ANY era even the brand new ones I se on the road have a light out or malfunctioning. If I spend $30,000 on a TT or A4 my brake lights should NOT be burned out/malfunctioning before my car reaches a year old!!!

The other day while poking around at my old Chevy dealer (where I used to work) I ran into a fellow colegue. He's a great guy, not muhc of a car enthusiast in the traditional sense but a real, honest genuine person. He drives a late 90s Tracker ragtop... 5-speed. He has worked for several different dealerships in the course of the last 30 years or so. Ford, Mazda, Suzuki & now Chevy. He's not really biased in favor or opposed to any manufacturer. He bought the Tracker because he thought from his first hand experience at a Suzuki dealer that the Tracker/Sidekick is/was a great vehicle for the price. He likes the old-school non-nonsense RWD, 4x4 for extreme weather conditions & the manual trans & ragtop for the fun to drive factor. After talking to him for the first time in like a year I was reminded of a great example of why CR surveys are bull$h!. A few years ago Russ was sitting there watching TV while his wife was filling out a CR survey. As Russ tells the tale she's a "CR is the bible of capitalism" kind of gal. So at one point she asks: "How much money in maintenance/repairs/upkeep have you spent on the Tracker in the past year?" Russ thinks for a minute and says something like $300. This is the grand total for oil changes, a couple of minor repairs and wearable items. (air cleaner etc.) So the wife notes this fact and continues with her survey.... Their teenage daughter drives a 1999 Celica and so at one point the wife asks Russ how muhc money they've spent on the Celica in the past year... same as wiht the Tracker Russ thinks for a minute and then says $900-something dollars. The wife looks up stunned and says: "NO way! ... we did nto spend that much" Russ says: "probably more than $900 but I know for a fact just the brakes alone that we did this past year cost us $900 for front and rear" Remember, the car needed rotors etc.... So the wife says in a snide voice: "You mean to tell me that your piece of $h! 70,000 mile Chevy Tracker cost us one third of the money to maintain this past year that our daughter's almost new TOYOTA Celica did?" Russ say matter-of-fact like: "Yes... what of it, the car needed brakes and we had the Toyota dealer do the job" So get this.... The wife says: "That's bull$h!... I'm writing down $180 for the Toyota, everyone KNOWS that a Toyota is a better car than some Chevy." Russ just shook his head and decided to not argue and therefore make his life miserable. So I ask you, if the wife of a Chevy salesman hates American cars this much and thinks Toyota is somehow infalable than how many others like this are there out there? I guess maybe I should subscribe to CR and fill out all their surveys... I don't need to lie to make GM out to look good. Even the STS I hate so much has not been bad to me for cost of maintenance... I've only invested like $10,000 total in that car so oh-well... but I've gotten amazing bang-for-the-buck with most of my GM rides.

Sure they have... back in 95 & 96 they were pretty acurate with their reportage of the C5. Other times they've made mostly acurate predictions, but like anyone trying to predict the future they've had foot-in-mouth disease on occassion.

Wow! that's a sharp sig... what did you use for a base pic?

I go out of my way to not own a modern car that has a passanger side mirror OPTION. How sad.

Well, looks like Oldsmoboi will be trading in his CTS soon adn paying about $4,000 too much for a SAAB with A&S styling. Fly: Up here in my neck fo the woods Audi's reputation is mostly one of buildig cars with horrible electronics throughout the 80s and early 1990s. I'm a fan of Audi but their rep. in the USA is stil tarnished and short lived. Most people who own Audis probablty have NO clue about Auto Union, or any of their accomplishments in the 1930s or whatever. Just as Cadillac's history does not mean much to Europeans.

Ummmm... ONE cubic inch, in other words 1/62 of a liter is "way more displacement?" maybe in 1:100 Airplane model engines. It does not matter this is a GM site, the truth is the Chevy 350 beats the F*** out of any and every engine ever made for HP/$, durability, ease of maintenance & versatility. It's used in sports cars, pickup trucks, Boats, RVs, Hot Rods, race cars, monster trucks, vans, dune-buggys, limousines, school buses, exotic sports cars, motorcycles, Jeeps, Cadillacs, tow trucks & even a few weird aircraft. Except for the VW pancake-4, no engine even comes close to being as wide spread and globaly famous. The VW flat four has nothing on the 350 in terms of power/$ though.

AutoWeek now says 09 Camaro has been moved to 08
Sixty8panther replied to hyperv6's topic in Chevrolet
I can't effin wait! BTW: If all goes according to schedule we'll be buying a house in the next three of four weeks and closing by early summer. After that I'm pickig up a Cobalt and after that the next car will be a 5th gen. Camaro. Even if I can't afford a V8 as long as it's a Stick I'll buy one new. -

All Rise For The Judge! (The GTO Judge that is)
Sixty8panther replied to TheMattMan's topic in The Lounge
See? Less cheesy and a lot more creative than some of today's ads. Love that bitchin hardtop roofline wiht all the windows down. They sing "Polyglass" like it's a good thing. Fantastic Post!!! (BTW the show they're mocking is "Laugh In"... it gave the GTO the name via the famous corny phrase "Here come da Judge")
