  1. WE have a winner!
  2. You have a C6? Post some before photos in the Member's ride section. That car needs like $17-$20K to be like new again. It looks rolled... the top-clamshell looks F***ed too. Sorry to hear about this.
  3. RWD Imala (I'll buy the Camaro but we need muscle for the masses not just 2dr ponycars) Solid Axle or IRS?
  4. Charger: First off great idea for a thread. I love it. Looking at those photos makes me all retless. I want to hop into my little Datsun (dare I say Q45) and take a 2 week roadtrip from here all the way out west untill I hit the Pacific Ocean. BTW: Who's '69/'70? Blazer? Let's see some more pics. Looks shiney and clean. Here's a photo of my house about a year ago. Just down the street this past fall. Fall of 2004. After I squished the Camaro's driver's side into a guardrail... junkyard fender shown bolted on. Satelite Image of my house (rental).... if you squint you can see my Camaor in the back yard. Our famous landmark, the Tyngsboro Bridge, and the temporary one next to it (gray) taht we're using while they repair the old 90 year old one.
  5. Guess the vehicle form these specifications: - This car's model name contained a "G" in it. - It had a 6767 cc motor - It produced 390 horsepower at 5000rpm - Available in both automagic and 3-speed on the floor. - Manufactured before JFK was shot but after most manufacturers eliminated tail fins. Good Luck.
  6. My kind of ride!!!
  7. Rico Suave
  8. yup, Z06 as in Z28 or Z11.
  9. I'm not a big fan of red and all but you have a fire-engine-red GTO. Here's a blue and black one:
  10. Yes, the differance was mostly the curb weight... about 2800 lbs, or about the same as a Saturn Ion. Gt it Champ, Ion?
  11. A part of me resents owning another FWD car... I was hoping to have a 100% RWD fleet by the time I bought my 1959 Buick so as to make it feel as if it was with good company. A super cheap Cobalt 5-speed is a very compeling reason to deal with just ONE FWDer. Besides the plan is to trade that in on a 5th gen. Camaro and at that point it will be RWD or RWD-biased AWD or nothing.
  12. This is off some website... I grabbed it because it looked almost exactly like what the races look like at Star Speedway where I go to race. This is just like a typical 4-cylinder race. I'm not as muhc about speed as I am about F***ing other cars up. Racing is secondary, I like to get a few good love taps in. My Volvo did not stay drivable long but it's definately repairable. That little white Mazda 323? that I T-boned almost ripped in half though. As long as I take out a few Japanese cars I'm happy. Esp. little Hondas. they're ususlly fast because their owners put a lot of shit on them and the cars weigh next to nothing but when they hit me or try no nudge me it's like a Mack Truck being rearended by a Taurus. BTW: here's a few photos of my old Escort Enduro Demilition car. Snake in the grass... :P
  13. Z28: Tat's creepy.. I found the same exact image off of a red '72 and made this in the time you posted that!
  14. Reg: I've known three people who owned SHOs. (They were all early-to-mid 1990s V6 1st gens. for the sake of fairness) 1. Mike: (buddy at collage) loved his car untill it developed serious drivability problems. He took it to a few local Ford dealerships and they all pretty much told him to go F*** himself. WE don;t work on those... the motor and ECU etc. is from Yahama.... go talk to a Yahama mechanic. As if there was such a thing as a Yamaha car dealer. OF course talking to mechanics who work on small displacment Yahama motors adn Bikes was of no help. Last I hear from Mike before he changed colleges and wento off to Florida was that he was getting rid of his "tempermental" Yamaha-Ford and getting a Grand Prix GTP. 2. Boris: family friend who is also a car fanatic. His garage burned down and took his beloved Merkur XR4Ti with it. He took the insurance money and bought a Mazda 626... then got bored with the Mazda. He bought a used 1994? SHO in green with a 5-speed and low miles. Loved the car. Had nothing but great things to say about it. Until lit burned to a crisp in the parking lot at his work. The next dayhe heard about some recall which had not been performed to hsi SHO and how without this repair a lot of SHO catch on fire... even with the car not running. 3. Another friend of a friend back in collge. ONe time at a party we got to talking about cars and he mentioned how his SHO eats transmissions like a Dodge Grand Caravan. Also liked the car but said it was a bitch to own. So ther you go... I'm not saying I'm an authority on the car... these are not first hand experiences but they're very telling of typical Ford Problems. one more thing Mute: The only reason why I ruled out the J30 when I was looking for a car was that I HATE timing belts. WTF is a rubber band doing actauling my valves? That's bull$h! and pathetic. The Q45 has a timing chain just like almost every other car I've ever owned. But all three of your potential cars will at some point need that rubber band replaced. Cost is usually $300-$800 depending on the car.
  15. DAmn, so it WAS a 454... that's a lot of motor for what is essentioally a lightweight 3-passanger Chevelle. I'd love to own anything 454 powered, even an old rusty C/K but a '70 ElCamino is so muhc cooler! That car probably went through Barrett Jackson this past year. When I hung out with Camino in the fall he showwed me the SpaceTruck plate. Too bad the 1970 SS was no longer bolted to it. :wnk:
  16. I hope so... when I had a rental Opel Astra (base 1.6 liter 5-door hatch) in Slovakia back in 2001 I thought it was a fantastic car. Worlds above and beyond the J-body of the same vintage. Why this car was not sold back then as a Cavalier is beyond me.
  17. Monte Carlo
  18. They still run primarily on gas but complicate the vehicle with tons f electronics and weigh the car down with massive batteries. Hybrid cars are in all reality a really dumb idea. Great concept for some made for TV movie but they're not cost effective and for every 1MPG you save another additional block of lead and battery acid will end up in the enviroment. Hydrogen. Fuel cells are definately the way to go. And if you want to accomplish excellent fuel economy. (in the 40s like a Prius) all you need to do is buy a used little 1980s Rabitt or Civic. Also, even the few great ideas that have come out of Hybrids like regenerative brakes and idle cutoff at red lights are fantascit in theory untill these systems develop super-costly problems and send these cars to the junkyard at an early age just like a SHO with a blown Yamaha motor. Car's worth less than the cost of the repair.
  19. The other day when searching for pics. of valiant attempt at an entry-level luxury cars for the other thread I ran across that. Pretty funny. I've never even heard of the movie RPM before that.
  20. Makes my mouth water and my right foot get twitchy. The fact that it's a 4-speed makes this gorgeous El-SS even more appealing! IIRC you said it was 396 powered right?
  21. Inquisition
  22. Charger Impala SS or Caprice Classic LTZ?
  23. This car looks great as a widebody.
  24. I owned a 1979 Granada back in the day and can honestly say that out of the HUNDREDS of cars I've sat in betwen Easterns Europe and the USA (including junkyards) they had THE worst interior! The dash, seat, ergonomics, comfort, style, layout... all get a big F-. What a horrible era of cars. Still at least your first car was RWD. I've got a few ideas, I'll mention a couple later.
  25. Money
