Spying: Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Seen Together

We've shown you spy shots of the new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. What we haven't been able to show is the two of them together... Until now.

Automobile has gotten their hands on some new spy shots of the new Silverado and Sierra testing together. Much like the current models, the pictures reveal the trucks will have slight visual differences that include wheels, fender openings grilles, and taillights.

The trucks feature a set of projector headlights and larger lower air dam. Around the side, the doors appear to not have any character lines. There is evidence of bright work around windows and some cladding along the bottom.

The back end has a truck bed that is straight and flat, while the tailgate has some creases.

So are they saying the big differentiator will be wheels, grilles and cladding? They went to the trouble of making different front clips, bedside skins and taillights on the 900, and not many people even noticed. These new ones appear to be going the same route. Maybe the interior visuals will be different between the two this time.

After looking at the photos, I don't predict an end to the "why is GMC even around/kill them/rebadge..." posts any time soon. They're simply not different enough. Considering how far GM has come at differentiating their platform mates in recent years I am really, really disappointed. With that said, I can't wait to see them.

They can get away with new front clips, skins and taillights as long as the interior is world class leading. If all they do is minor interior update tweaks, then GM is falling into old bad habits.

    • Cutting off from society and leaving the country isn't realistic for me, I still have a career, mortgage, cars, dogs, etc.  But I am minimizing my social media and tuning out the news, avoiding MAGAts, etc.    A couple former coworkers that were a bit older have retired and left the country in the last year--one moved to Costa Rica and one to France.
    • I do not, but labor is about 7% of the cost of a car.  You could say 25% tax on Chinese built cars like you have with the Chicken tax and that has seemed to work stopping Euro truck imports.  But the Chinese car companies can also build cars in Mexico, or Brazil or Indonesia or wherever else with lower labor cost than the USA too. The idea of tariffs are needed to boost jobs and manufacturing in the USA is a flawed theory though, because ever since April when the tariffs hit, unemployment as gone up and number of manufacturing jobs in the USA has gone down.  It is bad economics. We buy clothes, computers, shoes, phones, plastic lawn decorations and all other kind of stuff form Asia because it is lower cost.  I don't think cars should be any different really.  If BYD can sell a $25,000 3-row SUV then more power to them, and let consumers decide if they want to buy that or a $45,000 Traverse and if they perceive the Chevy as better quality then they'll pay the difference just as some people buy clothes at Walmart and some buy at Nordstrom.
    • I want northing to do with organized religion, MAGA, buying American, being American, cheering for American sports teams, being a Nazi, supporting a Nazi, etc.
    • What is the 51st state doing making their own trade agreements?
    • I would counter that I would feel less safe in a state with open carry and no regulation like Florida and Texas. Not everyone has the skill or can properly handle the weapons they carry. The year I lived in Texas, I came across way too many situations where the gun owner actually ended up making things worse as common sense is not so common. Without clear training, regulations on how and what you can carry, someone with a machine gun might just get road rage and go off firing causing many problems. @A Horse With No Name Great trip pictures, love the trip, looks like it was fun. It dawned on me that I am surprised the MAGA have not attacked the arts yet as the soft nudity is immense and that would offend their bible thumping attitude one would think.
