So my prize arrived in time for my birthday, which is pretty sweet. The model is just awesome. Amazing detail. From the head and tail light elements which replicate the elements of the real car to the badge, molded "viper" on the rear bumper. Painted coolant overflow tank, wires, wipers, brake calipers and rotors, chrome exhaust tips and even real carpet. The seatbelt buckles are even chromed and the detail inside is so good I can tell that it has an RBQ stereo. Even the underside gets detailing, with molded and silver painted control arms, exhaust, and plates. I love it! Thanks Drew! For anyone thinking about entering the next competition, prizes like this are a real mot…

Design Competition New Cadillac Crossover Rumors are starting to swirl yet again about a new Cadillac crossover to slot in below the Escalade and above the SRX. We're looking for your ideas. You can sketch it or you can chop it. No limitations of what to use as a base. Will you make it an on road sports crossover like the X5 or will you make it a versatile off road mountain goat like a Range Rover? Either way, if you submit the winning design, you'll win this 1/14th scale Remote Control Cadillac Escalade. Voting starts on June 1st, get it in before then. Product Description: Special Feature Full Function Radio Controlled Forward, Reverse, Stop, Left…

Having been "offline" for the last month or so as my home office is being remodeled, I have just today reestablished a new ISP connection, and I needed to say this to Drew & all the C&G members, aside from a big THANK YOU,..that the "trophy" Toronado which you sent to me, for winning the birthday comp, is absolutely fantastic !! It has found a place in the TOP of my "trophy case" next to the Dale Earnhart Z-06 & my racing (SCCA) awards. The competition on that was really GOOD, and I look forward to MORE valuable competitions here now that Z06 is working the contests. I ENCOURAGE EACH OF YOU HERE TO REALLY GET INVOLVED WITH THESE NEXT COMPS...OR I WILL HAVE T…

The votes are in... and we have a winner! We had many great entries and the voters surely had a difficult time choosing their favorites. After all entries were in, Camino couldn't have said it better when he stated, "This contest proves that small cars don't have to be ugly." Let's hope the industry takes note. Also, I found it very interesting that there were quite a few different ways that entries were created. Coincidentally, each of the top three entries were made an entirely different way, but were still able to convey a very good design. That being said, let's list the winners... The original contest submission thread is here where you can browse all of the entri…

Welcome to Design Competition #5! Now that Chrysler has been joined by Fiat and released from the grip of its previous owners, or "partners," it has been given a nearly all-new line up of fresh vehicles. Almost every single vehicle on any Chrysler or Dodge showroom floor is new in one way or another. However, there is one vehicle that is missing: a compact sedan. Dodge tried fooling us into buying a compact crossover-type vehicle when they replaced the Neon with the Caliber in 2006. This car was nothing like the Neon and has gone unchanged for far too long. Seeing as though it is aged and was never able to sell like the Neon, it is time for a replacement that goes …

Whew! What a job this turned into! When this contest began, I expected a few entries and an easy decision when picking a winner. Instead, the contest has turned into one of the best in recent memory here at C&G. Not only was there great participation, but the entered designs were of excellent quality. I am very pleased that picking a winner became harder as each new entry was posted. What a great effort by all who participated. Early on, member SeanLoh got things going with a chop that established the GMC All-Terrain HD concept as a base for designs from other resident artists. His entry set a tone that carried through as a theme for the duration of the contest. It…

Welcome to Design Competition #4! So here we are at the end of 2010, and man, is the world ever different ! So many of us are being forced to re-create ourselves and find our way in this new reality. That goes for our favorite automaker as well. But listen. It isn't all bad. The end of one age is just the beginning of another, and all things are possible again. The shining star of the Alpha program, the begining of production for the Volt, whispers of Holden goodness coming our way once again. It's time to get creative once more, to adapt and overcome. To see things with new eyes and from new directions. Where inspiration comes from is always a mystery, and t…

Welcome to Design Competition #3! Many people have complained that the American Big Three do not offer anything like the Subaru Impreza WRX STi or Mitsubishi EVO, and it's a very valid point. People want that extra get-up-and-go from AWD. Add in a turbocharged engine, and you get rocket-like acceleration off the line and through every apex. Currently there are no cars in the GM lineup that have these qualities, and this is what we want you to change... We want you to design a brand new compact sedan that will comfortably seat four but has a look even meaner than its power. We want this car to intimidate any competition even before the turbo spools and the clutch is dr…

Welcome to Design Competition #2! At one time, they said the Corvette's little brother was the Camaro, which was fitting. Then they said it was the Cobalt SS, which was really pushing the envelope. Let's really give them something to talk about... by designing a true "little brother" to the Corvette, right down to the name! We want you to design a brand new car off the Kappa (or Kappa II) platform that will function as a miniature Corvette. Ideally, this car would possess many Corvette (and Stingray) cues but, keep in mind that this is a brand new model to the Chevrolet stable!. Basically, this would be the small, lightweight, 2.0L turbocharged version of the Corve…

As many of you know already, I am a member at iracing.com. Iracing is now allowing members to paint their cars and use them in the game and I thought it would be fun to have a Cheers & Gears car to drive around. I have attached the template that needs to be used in a zip file. The template is a Photoshop document and here are the rules from iracing: "The cars have to be 1024x1024. The suits and helmets 512x512. If they are the wrong size they are ignored. The final tga should be saved as a 24 bit tga. I would also strongly recommend turning on RLE compression on the TGA to help cut the size of the texture down." Latemodel Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS.zip

Oldsmoboi's Birthday Challenge Contest open till December 1st 2009 at 11:59pm Since I was a kid, I've always felt that Pontiac should have gotten an E-body, but a sportier version. You can see hints of sportiness in the Buick Riviera T-Type and the Oldsmobile Toronado XSC. What I want to see is what a 1979 - 1985 Pontiac E-Body would have looked like had GM produced one. So sketch, draw, or chop me up a car. Any 1979-1985 Eldorado, Toronado, Seville, or Riviera is an eligible base. I'll be judging the entries myself. Every entrant will receive a C&G related prize for entering the contest. The grand prize is a 1:18 scale model 1966 Toronado The rules: 1. …

Welcome to Design Competition #1! Modern design has strayed from the lines and ultimate beauty that models of yesterday possessed. In today's world, you see either too many lines that don't flow together or not enough lines to define any character. However, now you're the designer. It's your turn now. We want you to revive a GM vehicle from before 1990 that needs revival. It doesn't matter if you sketch, Photoshop, or render your entry because however you make it will be perfectly fine by us as long as it meets the guidelines. So show us your skill and creativity and may the best designer win! You may design any GM model produced before 1990. ------------------…
