"500 internal server error"

Recommended Posts

seems that once and a while if i have more than 1 tab of this site up it'll give me a "500 internal server error" after about a minute of "doing nothing" as in after i click a link. not sure if it's my isp, at&t dsl, or if it's the server being down or busy...?

any help why this could be happening?

ok.... at least it 's not just me.... unfortunatly......

asked a friend what would cause this...

"scripting error like php, perl gone bad

or a file permession is wrong, or missing"

for the admins.... the server's log needs to be checked for why this is happening,

THX!

I just had a 4 paragraph post in a new topic disappear.  I hit "post new topic" after typing and it hangs up... then goes to "internal server error", then... *poof*, gone.

I always select/highlight and copy my long posts prior to sumbitting them as a backup just in case the server craps out in the middle of processing the post.

this has become a regular habit of mine

*nods*

Mine, too ... in every forum I'm on ... it can be frustrating to spend time typing up a post and have it go "poof" on ya :(.

I try to copy the post after I write it too if it's very long.

The server has been being a PITA lately. Apparantly our host thinks "oh, they paid for 2 years, let's put them on a crappy server since they won't be giving us any more money in the forseeable future."

I see an awful lot of this:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

---

If they refuse to fix the problem, find a new server and demand a refund.

:withstupid:

It's a habit now. It's annoying as hell, but I'm used to it. Usually, when I first get on the forums, it'll be fine, but I go anywhere from there.. It's not happening. Then, after each time I post, I get one... Sometimes the post goes through, sometimes it doesn't. Hence my new habit.

It's getting out of hand. I've gotten seven of the Server Error messages tonight alone, along with two of the 404 messages.

Anyone notice that these forums tend to be slow after recovering from one of those little hiccups? It's taken six minutes to load this thread.

Also, I don't actually have to have more than one tab open for C&G for it to do this.
