Another facinating little American car company, Playboy Motor Corporation.

>One of the founders was a former Pontiac engineer.

>It had the first retractable hardtop convertible.

>Built cars between 1946 and 1949.

>Origin of the name for Hugh Hefner's new magazine.

I still feel I should sue them for the money I spent on their material. It just didn't work.

And, I got grounded when my mom found them! I want that time back but I know if I bring it up even as a joke, I'll get a God/sin lecture. :AH-HA_wink:

I'd be interested in how creative a modern day Playboy car could be designed. I bet they could come up with something sexy, and a bit humorous!

Well, the styling certainly did not help sell these things.... that's for sure.

Haven't seen or heard much about them at all except for a couple

excerpts or mentions online.

No the styling isn't a barnburner for sure, but I take it in the context of the times. This was just after the war, starting a car company from scratch is not easy any time. I still like it for what it is. It's certainly no worse than some of the bizarre small cars of today.

If the chick was topless, I'm sure they'd have sold more.

But Boo, what if she were your very own Granny? Would you want guys slobbering all over her boobies, doing "the helicopter"?

Playboy logo and Mini logo, coincidence?

Eh... not much of a stretch when you take Chrysler into consideration. It's just a circular logo with wings.
