Two Caddy verts I saw today

Featured Replies

Today I saw a white 63-64 Caddy ragtop, looked to be pretty straight and clean as we passed each other in opposite directions. Love those years, my folks had a 64 CDV, white of course.

The other one was a head-scratcher: it was a new DTS IIRC (the newest sedan, not the STS or CTS), but it was a convertible. Not a fake one, but a real one. How do I know? It had NO TOP! It was the real deal, a four-door convertible. This was near Naperville, IL, FWIW, I can't remember what Caddy dealer is around there, but it had to be a one-off, right? It was a dark color, maybe a deep red.

Thoughts?

Vert conversions on newer Caddys aren't unheard of, they just rarely look good. I've seen a Deville in person and a CTS in pics.

Ever seen a '92-'02 Eldorado conversion? Beautiful.

True dat. I guess I meant to say newer Caddy sedans above.

Weren't those actual production (non 3rd party)? But I agree with you.. best looking vert I know of and I'm one who doesn't really care for convertable in the first place.

A friend of my mine a few years back got to take home a Bonneville from GM where he still works, he got to sawzall the roof off. How cool is that?! I don't remember what it was for. But who cares right?!!

The Dealer is "Cadillac of Naperville" and he has had a few of the Deville (DTS) conversions around during the last few years (usually 1 per quarter).

It's the dealer where I take the CTS for service (oil change) and they do an excellent job. It gives me time to roam around the dealership and see what he has in the showroom (XLR-V on the last trip) to DTS conversions in the backroom.

Don't remember who the conversion shop is, but I believe I saw one on e-bay about a week ago.

No, they never made '92-02 Eldorado convertibles from the factory, but there were a few companies who did the chop and made quite a few over the years. I have a friend who has one.

The same companies have been making '00-05 Deville, '06+ DTS, '03+ CTS, etc. convertibles...though they do look a little strange.

coach (in florida) is doing them. i'd still buy the eldo vert. (2000+)

sharp.

between coach and newport (they do the CTS) you get some neat looking cars.

i'd buy a 2 door 300 vert anytime.

It was an Ebay auction, and after it ended, the seller took the pics down...hence, why the links don't work anymore.

Interesing..I don't think I've seen a DTS convertible..I have seen a '90s Eldorado conv. (very nice) and a Coupe de Ville convertible made from around a 1990 CDV..

Speaking of unusual Cadillacs, I saw a BLS with Michigan mfgr plates on the 405 freeway in Orange County this past Saturday... looked pretty good in person.
