Even BEFORE Trump became #47,  Biden hit China with 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs because even sleepy Joe KNEW that China would just flood the US market with ACTUAL AFFORDABLE EVs and that would sink GM, Ford and Stellantis in the US. Sleepy Joe even forced Canada (Trudeau) to do the same. Yes...Sleepy Joe FORCED Trudeau as our Canadian government was reluctant to do so at first. So Canada also put 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs.

But now, China upped their tariffs on Canadian canola oils and beef  and stated that its because of our own tariffs on their EVs...  Our government NOW knows that it be best to leave those tariffs because Chinese EVs WILL flood the Canadian market but that will also close down GM, Ford and Chrysler factories IN Canada.  So our beef and canola oil industry may have to suffer a little in the Chinese market...

When Ford and GM want to peddle high priced EVs...

When Stellantis wants to peddle Hemi powered 15 year old Durangos to stay afloat...  I understand what @Drew Dowdell told me about the Durango being a place holder. Still does NOT change the fact that once again, the US auto industry was caught with their pants down not having the right product for an ever changing industry. Although they did react ON time this time around, they STILL fumbled it...

Tesla lead the god damned way, but their leader failed them.

GM realized it right on time, made all the right decisions on time, but mis and dis information phoqued a nation with an ever changing world...

He was sleepy joe because we could all sleep at night and he wasn't up at 2 a.m. posting unhinged tweets.

You're right about all the rest, but here's some additional context.

The Chinese EVs are so cheap because there is a price war going on in China in the EV market right now. They are being sold at a loss even in their domestic market because they have so many companies producing them, they are trying to outlive each other to eventually dominate the market.  The Chinese goverment also is subsidizing the purchase of EVs on the consumer end while supporting the industry with subsidies. It's the EV tax credit and battery plant subsidy we did but times 10.

The Chinese want entry to the North American market for the same reason. They don't want to just sell here, they want to put the legacies out of business so they can raise prices later.  They did this with the solar industry already. We once had a booming solar panel production capacity in North America, but China came in and undersold everyone and now China controls that market.

100% percent!!!

I wrote it as sleepy Joe in sarcasm.  I know the maga folk and some from the left like to call him that but I wanted to be known that he was wide awake and AWARE of the Chinese threat. He was also tough when needed to force an ally, Canada, to adopt the same tariffs. Trudeau was asleep at the wheel for that one and Biden forced him to comply with US demands.   And I have no problems with that.  There are times when our respective political leaders NEED to force upon one another certain demands.  And THAT kind of relationship is a healthy one when hard decisions like that will benefit BOTH countries.

Weapons of mass destruction and Jean Chretien, then Canada's Prime Minister, did not buy what George Dubya and the US military complex was selling and did not support the Persian Gulf War 2.0.  And Canada initially did not join that coalition. And Canada was outcasted by many Western nations.  But that allowed Canada to have its own voice different than the US. That made the world respect Canada and in the long term, the world saw that Canada's intelligence is far greater than just being a lap dog for the US. Also, that signaled to the US that Canada is not a yes man to US politics and in later years, other US political leaders respect Canadas decisions making for a stronger bond between our 2 nations.  Obama had a GREAT relationship with Canada. I would also say Biden too.

WOW, this is an interesting concept that I could see making it to production. Weird that they follow GM with the power port just in front of the drivers door, would rather have it in one of the rear corners.

How is it a wakeup call? It's been in production for 3 years already. Are any being sold here? They aren't, to the best of my knowledge.

Peak charging of 120Kw? That's pretty awful, right?

No longer a teenager dreaming about the west coast.  California.  I did think about joining the US Airforce right out of high school.   When I was ashamed of being a Quebecois. When English Canada shunned Quebec.  When Canadian Pride amongst ourselves was  supposed to be hush hush unless you were of course from Quebec. Then you couldnt even speak your mind about anything.  Including in the USofA, Quebecois were laughed at.  If you were from Quebec, you were an outsider. A freak.  The only thing that Canada and Quebec were aligned in was that if you were an Anglo or Frenchie, you were OK. Oh yeah...immigrants were tolerated and over all accepted, but there was a hidden negativity about being non-Anglo, non-Franco.  And the Anglos on top of all that felt superior to the Frenchies as well...

But in that time...Canada grew from their problems. Lots of painful discussions were had and are still being held regarding  racism and sexism and Canadian Pride and Indigenous peoples and the respect they deserve in their OWN land that was taken away from them.

It looks like YOU stupid Americans are still trying to figure this out.  With BLATANT racism abound...

@ccap41

Ironic I talk about racism and sexism and you question why black females and Cadillacs...

There is nothing nefarious about black females and Cadillacs that I decided to post on about.  Unless that is what you see.  Which would be on YOU.

Its just a silly post.  Nothing more nothing less.

Black females are human.  Just like Taylor Swift and Salma Hayek that I posted half naked in a Greek motif post.

The answer you are looking for is not that hard.  Its in the music.  And I chose the most respectful of pics of beautiful black ladies that I have never really posted on about.

I would think you would question Taylor Swift and Salma Hayek as they seemingly have NOTHING to do with what else was posted.

You pin pointed black women...

Why was that?

Now tell us why THAT would intrigue you?

For me, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin are a big "no," as would be other smaller metro areas.

For some reason, I have some affinity for the Houston area.  Part of it is that the tree canopy is similar to that of the Atlanta area.  I love Southern pine.  People are super nice for a big metro area but, proporionately, not the sharpest tools in the shed.

There are some ugly industrial areas and unchecked sprawl.  While people may be nice, they are wickedly aggressive on the road.

I like that it has Galveston.  Whether it's the pier, the small dowtown with NOLA French Quarter* style covered sidewalks, or watching big cruise ships come and go, it can be a good time.

"Fillet of Soul" ... that is beyond hilarious ... it was a front for drug laundering or something like that

New Orleans's motto as they might state in French would be (~) "laissez les bon temps rouler"

Loved that James Bond movie!

I have friends that live in Galveston and while I enjoyed in the past visiting them. The current situation based on hearing from other coworkers who live in the area is the aggressive hate towards all that is not white and with a Korean Wife, I would probably end in jail as I would not tolerate the southern hate that is currently going on.

As such, I will stay in my Multi-Cultural PNW.

It is sad that Idiot47 have created so much hate and separation of the U.S. in comparison to a person who is to pull the country together. He clearly is working for select groups and special interests starting with himself.

Sadly, I think our Auto industry, Especially GM is done having any Global influence and will now be limited to the U.S. as I notice the free trade agreements that Asia is doing with Canada and Mexico and allowing China in that is bringing in much cheaper auto's, the Detroit Truck Market will become U.S. only IMHO.

I myself do not see buying a Detroit auto anymore, I suspect my next auto will be a Kia EV9 Pickup truck or Genesis GV90 SUV.

My Coworkers who are in Cork Ireland used to look forward to coming to the tradeshow we have every year in Vegas and then vacationing in the U.S.

This year, they had to force people to come to work the tradeshow in May and none of the Ireland team took vacations in the U.S. Many went to Spain, Portugal and other European or Asian destinations.

Sucks to be in the tourism industry right now as I do not see it getting any better, only worse over the next few years.

I mean... they're actually already doing it. LGA is in the final stages of a total rebuild now.  EWR is getting completely rebuilt too.  That said, there's only so much they can do with the real estate they have. It's kinda the reason for the weird design EWR had in the first place. They were trying to cram more gates in.

LGA was NEVER intended to be the major hub that it is. It was suppose to be for short haul flights (by our modern standards) mainly and when JFK was built, that was for the longer haul stuff.  LGA had to extend the runway into the Hudson to accommodate the larger planes.  The airport was originally built in 1939.

Dorval airport or Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport to non-Montreal natives is a lot worse.

I am too exhausted to start naming ALL the bloody things wrong with it but everything that NYC's 3 airports have as flaws, Dorval has those. Plus hundreds of others.

Mirabel was constructed in the 1960s to fix YUL (to those that travel a lot know Trudeau airport by its calling)  but Mirabel had 3 fatal flaws in it and that is why now its only a cargo, private jet and Bombardier Aerospace/Airbus airport. BTW, YUL also shares 1 of those Mirabel flaws...

Montrealers and tourists alike deal with it. Barely.  Drivers in Montreal are suppressing their anger towards it.  And Quebec announced in July that another 10 BILLION will be awarded to renovate it again.  To accommodate  increased tourist capacity and business growth . Phase 1 to completed by 2028.  Phase 2 by 2035.

Mirabel cost Quebec BILLIONS to solve increased tourist capacity. EXACTLY that amount that YUL is expected to accommodate.   But referendums to split from Canada destroyed those tourist dreams and business endeavors. Its come back I guess.  But Mirabel is no longer able to be transformed for civilian air travel...

What Im saying is,  Id rather have NYC's airport problems than Montreal's...

The original Osaka Japan airport had all those problems and then some, so a major engineering project with an artificial island and now Osaka has a modern thriving airport.

QUOTE:

Osaka's Kansai International Airport was built on an artificial island in Osaka Bay to relieve overcrowding at the original Itami Airport. Construction began in 1987 and the airport opened in 1994. The project was a major engineering feat, requiring the creation of an island using soil dredged from Osaka Bay and quarried from nearby mountains. The airport is designed to operate 24 hours a day and serves as a major international hub, handling millions of passengers annually. Despite initial challenges, such as subsidence, the airport has continued to thrive as a significant aviation center in Japan.

You dont really need a car if you are only doing the Montreal downtown core along with Old Montreal.  We do have a fantastic public and Metro (subway) system for that. Plus its walkable...in the summer/fall.  Spring is rainy and slushy.  Its your choice really on that for the Spring. Winter is doable if you do not mind snow. Its not that cold nowadays with climate change.

Oh...we do have the REM that goes from Pierre Elliot airport to Downtown now.  Like I said, no need for a car.  YUL is actually a not too bad airport to accomodate visitors.

THIS being the REM.

REM service to resume Aug. 18. Here are all the details

Above ground subway. Its electric.

Part of the solution that was going to be between YUL and downtown and a fast railway to Mirabel that NEVER materialized in the 1960s and 1970s.  Which was a third of the fatal flaw of Mirabel that I was talking about earlier.  SOOOOO.... we got a part of that solution in the mid 2020s.  Better late than never.   YUL still shares another fatal flaw with Mirabel.   LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION.   YUL is smack right in the middle of a very very populated city.  Mirabel had the opposite of that.  Mirabel was/is situated very very very far from the city it needed to serve.  It was located there for political and economical reasons.   The economical reasons was it was supposed to serve Ottawa as well.  But...a highway or two was needed to be built linking Ottawa and Montreal VIA the town of Mirabel.  Highway 13 and Highway 20 to be completed.  Highway 13 is still a mess while Highway 20 being completed 10 years ago. Better late than again...  Plus the  railway way systems I mentioned earlier.

Speaking of sex and sexuality, I slept with an escort once. She was old and smelled like mildew. Never sleep in a Ford escort. I wanted an Escape before that Expedition, and clearly I just needed more Focus.

She makes some excellent points.

It's time to think about the permanent decline of the USA, we will not recover from our current bout of stupidity.

I stand with every single Canadian, and I am American.

More Canadian boycott stuff, but not just Canada. Our economy is so going to tank.

I despise our political leadership, but living in the Midwest is amazing, and the Midwest has amazing cities.

We're mid-west?  We're mid-atlantic rust-belt by my estimation.

1. Canadians are not missing, not crying that we cant buy American booze. And even if American booze came back on Canadian shelves, Im certain that ALL Canadians would just skip American booze...

2. Id rather American booze stay off the shelves rather than just a regular boycott. Why? Its a VISUAL reminder  for ignoble, uncouth, oafish commoners such as this Christopher Swong fella.   And it seems to piss him and others like him off even more. It takes the control right out of their hands. It gives them no hope whatsoever.

3. This mess that the Trump supports created  also shows that Canadians do not need American distillers from the south.  It shows that distillers from the south need Canada.

4. All the gaslighting he does is just like a child throwing a tantrum.

Boo freakin' hoo Swong.

Phoque distillers from the south

Phoque the US

When it happens, you won't hear about it directly. You'll feel an electricity in the air. You'll hear car horns honking, maybe some fireworks going off, you'll have 47 unread text messages. Entire nations will be celebrating.

and you don't even have to ask what it is I'm talking about.

He is missing since Tuesday apparently. Well, since media has spotted him visually...

What is he up to? Hiding in a bunker contemplating how to off himself and who is to burn his and Eva's, I mean Melania's body?  He did say that he wished his generals were more like Nazi generals.
