Mercedez Benz News 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT Four-Door To Begin $137,495*

Recommended Posts

Mercedes-Benz has announced pricing for most of the upcoming AMG GT four-door expected to arrive in the first half of next year. The GT 63 will set you back $137,495, while the more powerful GT 63 S begins at $159,995. Both prices include a $995 destination charge.

The 63 means a twin-turbo 4.4L V8 resides under the hood. The standard GT 63 produces 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Move up to the S and the V8 pumps out 630 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. Both models come paired with a nine-speed automatic and 4Matic all-wheel drive.

It's clear that Mercedes is aiming the GT four-door at the likes of the Porsche Panamera Turbo and Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.

  • Panamera Turbo: 550 horsepower and 567 pound-feet, $151,500
  • Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid: 680 horsepower and 626 pound-feet, $186,200

The only model Mercedes hasn't announced pricing for is the GT 53. This model pairs a 3.0L twin-turbo inline-six engine with a mild-hybrid system to produce a total output of 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet. That will be revealed at a later date.

Seems reasonable, it is faster than an E63, so it should cost more than that, and it is the fastest 4-door car ever around the Nurburgring.   Priced similar to an S63 which isn't quite as fast but is more luxurious.  And cheaper than a Panamera, which is an ugly car.

This Mercedes is not that much better.

Not as ugly, but not far from Panamera ugliness.

Between the two?

Ill think Ill pass...

The Porsche Taycan however, would be something Id consider.  If you wanted me to choose an ICE vehicle from Europe. Id go for a Maserati GrandTurismo. About the same price, slower, not as roomy...oh but that sound that V8 makes...and you got to admit, the GrandTurismo is sexier that all of them, Taycan included!

Except the Mercedes and Porsche will work, while the Maserati will break down all the time.  The Gran Turismo is also a 2 door car and slower 0-60 than a C43, yikes!

Im not so sure the Mercedes will work either.

The Porsche. Most likely. Maybe.  The  Panamera aint exactly a 911...

Sure, the GrandTurismo is slow.  But the sound it makes.  Nothing short of a Hellcat/Demon V8 does that Ferrari engineered V8 make me drool more than any other modern V8. The Voodoo V8 from Ford is a close 3rd place.

I just got another speeding ticket a week ago.  And I was  driving the wife's 1.6 liter ecoboosted Fusion...not even my Acura TL.  The Maserati is fast enough I think.

I do not think Ill ever invest in a 100 000 dollar vehicle.  Maybe on a 1970 restomodded and protoured 1970 Olds 442 one day or a numbers matching one. Maybe...
