  2. If the president thinks that highish tariffs will bring production to the USA on a permanent basis, he has another thing coming. While SOME foreign-made vehicles are assembled here, not all of them will. There is no reason that BMW would ever build their sedans here; same with Mercedes or VW or Audi. Volvo moving some of its production to Sweden does not prevent the president from essentially declaring a trade war against Sweden in particular or Europe more generally. Sorry, no one can bring back the Eisenhower 1950s, even if this president and a lot of midwesterners would like to do just that.

  3. XC60 is a really popular vehicle, they should be making it in their new plant here.

  4. I'm fairly certain what they'll bring over is the Peugot line or DS line which is pretty conventional and could be mistaken for a luxury Kia

  5. LX, GX, LS, LC, plus a Supra.... and then maybe there is enough reason for the GS to stick around. My guess is they'll combine IS and GS into a single car like Cadillac is doing. So there is a 6th vehicle... and they could put it in the Tundra, Sequoia, and Land Cruiser as well for the fuel economy option. That's more than plenty volume for a single engine design.

  8. Chinese worker: "Me not come to work, me sick." Boss: "When I'm sick I have sex with my wife, try it." Chinese calls back: "It worked. Me better. You got nice house!"

  9. Simply put, I don't see the move happening....you'll more likely see Geely or another Chinese company roll in...there is a fat opening for cheaper cars....

  10. I like this. I've heard it said that French is the language of love ... and diplomacy I've heard it said that Italian is that language of art and music ... and, as you say, food. I'd buy that English is now the language of commerce. I know that I couldn't get into a groove with those taking Latin in high school. I will own my fairly high nerdy quotient. That of those taking Latin was more than I could relate to.

  11. I wonder about that. What's to say that everyone else doesn't just ignore the US and enter into trade agreements leaving us out. Japan and the EU just signed one.

  13. Nice Mustang! Maverick 2- & 4-door have nearly identical rooflines- the 4-door's is a tiny bit shorter and makes a tiny bit more room for heads in the back seat... going to quote myself on this one :

  14. My dad and I had bought and totally cleaned up a car like this for my middle sister when she graduated High school so she would have a reliable auto for college. Lasted her 6 years till her husband totaled it looking at another woman on the sidewalk. That marriage ended after 10 years. New neighbor from BC moved into the area, the owner has his grandfather with him who wanted his car even though he had not driven it in years. I give you an Canadian Comet? Not sure what they were called up there but I loved these sporty 2 door cars. @balthazar Does this pass for a 2 door coupe? ? This coupe thing really confuses me.

  15. Wife did a Garage sale with 3 friends at one of the friends house and I was the slave labor lifting and setting things up. Lucky for me, I went for a walk to check on the G-Sale signs and saw this lovely in need of some TLC Super. The only Toyota I have ever wanted. Been sitting there for a while but totally would be fun to have. An old geezer with a tube in his throat out for a drive as he says he takes it out ever day that is sunny. 55 Chevy

  16. They still track these things in the technological equivalent of CSV files. I've done my own investigation into vehicle flaws and started running into walls because similar vehicles that share parts are often reported separately. I was tracking a dashboard flaw in the GM GMT800s but because the Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL, Sierra, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, and Avalanche are all reported separately, it is difficult if not impossible to see the full extent of the problem.
